The only reason I don't critisize the Patriots to much is because i don't want to get flamed to death by patriots_1228. Although, I don't see why they would need to cheat anymore since they are doing so good this season...

This is an example of why so many people hate the Patriots.  They did cheat.  They may not be doing it anymore, but they did, and the rest of us have a right to be disgusted with them.quote>

we didn't cheat to get to 13-0. Incase you havnt noticed, we never cheated this year. did we film the jets for the first half of the first game? yes, but we never used those films because they were taken before we could use them.

You can question the last 3 superbowls, it will still make me mad, but its understandable, but if you think we cheated to get to 13-0, then you are just jealous.<<<<EDIT: oops...haha...what can i say, ESPN knows me well

I never said I questioned their 3 SB wins, but cheating is cheating no matter what spin you put on it. I could care less if they 'used' those tapes or not, seems pretty stupid to film something and then not use it....yeah, sure they didn't. A team with as much talent as the Patriots shouldn't feel the need to cheat unless they have inferiority complexes. Don't get wrong, I don't 'hate' the Patriots, just that they cheated, plain and simple. They tarnished the only 'clean' sport we have left.

alright, i had a big essay typed out, but i deleted it and will just say this.

first off, i wasnt accusing you of questioning their SB wins, im just saying that is somthing that would make me mad, but still i would find a reasonable thing to do. and, just so noone misunderstands anything. I understand that the patriots cheated. I understand that it could have affected there run from 01-06. I understand that it was wrong, pointless, and downright stupid. But on the other hand, questioning this season because the patriots cheated is also wrong. That would be like saying the 72 dolphins don't deserve the acknowledgement they get because they only played a 14-0 season.

On the other hand, wouldn't it be embarassing to go 16-0 and lose in the second round to the browns or somthing?

Actually, losing to the Dolphins would be more embarrassing than losing in the playoffs I would think.....but I seriously doubt that will happen, but stranger things have happened.

No, it wouldn't be the same.  The Dolphins had a perfect season then, which should be celebrated.  Now, it could be argued that going 14-0 isn't as hard as going 16-0 because there's two more games to play, which means two more opportunities to lose.  Either way, it's still the same accomplishment.

With that said though, it's not wrong to question the Patriot's season, even if they cheated only once.  Once you break the honor code, it's hard to determine what you were actually honoring it on, and no one's going to believe you when you said that you were honoring it one time when you were supposed to be honoring it all along.  To give you an example, a class I took this semester had participation bonus points that went with it for people who wanted to better their grade.  Lots of people took advantage of the bonus points, myself included.  Before the last opportunity to get some, we were told that if we tried to pull anything slick by showing up for the event right before the points were awarded in an effort to get points for nothing, you'd lose points.  Some of the students decided to cheat the system and get double bonus points.  What happened to them?  They lost every bonus point they had made - including any points that they had made legitimately.  Why?  Because they broke the honor code.  You break the honor code, and you invalidate the efforts.

Case in point here, it's just as valid to question the Patriots' season this year as it would be for a prof to question the validity of bonus points when they catch them trying to rig the system.  The only difference is that the NFL isn't going to erase their record.

Yes, they are! We were SO close last year. I would laugh if the Patriots lost to the Dolphins though. All my friends hate the Patriots, and I think some of that is rubbing off onto me.

I hate them because they killed the Chargers last season and this season

I love them because they remind me of Boston, and I love watching them play other teams!

Miami wins! They beat Baltimore in OverTime with a 64 Yard TD Pass. They've been unlucky in a couple of games and so I think they deserve it. Also, the Pats won 20-10 but it didn't look like they played at their best today, I was following the game on the NFL website and so I could be wrong but it's the sign of a good team that still wins when not playing at their best.
