What's with everyone worshipping Eli Manning all of a sudden? He had one good game. One...after a string of about 10 crappy ones. Remember when they played the Vikings? The rest of his NFL career he's been slightly above average. He's not Peyton, and he's not Archie. If the giants play like they did against the Patriots, they have a shot. If they play like they did in 12-13 other games, they're going to lose horribly. He'll hit his receivers right in the hands and they'll drop it, or he'll over/underthrow them...

Now that I think about it, the Vikings spanked the Giants and the Chargers...but got spanked by the Packers (twice) and the Redskins. Weird season, huh?

pats- Just for future reference, it's not "Calafornia" but "California". Hence the name "Cali". And about LT. Just because he's one of the few decent individuals in the league doesn't give you the right to make fun of him because he feels strongly about etiquette. Unlike a lot of the other players, he's not constantly trying to act like a playboy and gangsta all the time to build up their self-image. Just as it has been mentioned here time and time again, he was just pointing out the smugness that the Pats seem to be exhibiting so often.

That aside, the Chargers, and Norv Turner in particular, are really under pressure to finally win a playoff game for once. If they don't, then the coaching change will really have been for naught. But will they win? One would think that with so many playoff losses in their history, that they would finally be sick enough of it to finally pull of a win. But if Rivers doesn't bring out his A game, then it'll be a big question mark. You just can't rely on LT all the time, because that's what the other team's defense will most likely focus on. You really need to get a good passing game going in order to be successful. For Rivers, that means he needs enough protection to relieve him of pressure, so he can complete the pass.

I'm not so concerned about the Titans as I am with the Colts. With the Colts one needs to hope for one of their choking moments. Of course, the Chargers could always surprise us. Just like there have been a lot of surprises this season already.

greekman-underdogs can't choke. The chargers are really in the perfect situation if they win this week. for once they will not feel pressured to win because the media will expect them to lose. So they could easily sneak up on the Colts, only to come into foxboro and get crushed

Incase you havn't noticed, the pats aren't smug. Name one other team that praised the dolphins after beating them by multiple touchdowns.

Since you are all over the country, wether it be texas or my newly invented land of CalAfornia (besides, noone round here says Caleefornia, they say calahfornia), you wouldn't know, but if you ever get the chance to listen to Belicheck on WEEI or Pats All Access, you'll really see that he not such a bad guy.

Belicheck won coach of the year. I await your whining and your tears.

All I will say on the matter

belicheck won this award exactly because of his cheating. He went through more then any other coach. For you to be perfect while everyone else slings insults at you and belittles your accomplishments? To keep your cool when deep down you want to rip their heads off? To praise and complement all your opponents, even if they where complete jerks to you (See Mangini, Eric, or Dungy, Tony). Thats the stuff of a coach of the year. Someone who makes a mistake and comes back better than ever.

I am proud to root for a Bill Belicheck coached team.

Right now i am hating Bill Parcells...he is raiding the cowboys staff and probably their roster soon...

Something that bothers me is all the Superbowl expectations from teams. The Patriots, Chargers, Colts, Cowboys, and Packers are all supposed to make it to the SUperbowl. One problem, only two teams can make it, and only one will win it. Yet its "absolute failure" for teams that dont make it. Heck I would like to have the Cowboys win it, but its unlikely that they will.

I agree that we should have an NFL pickem next year, but here is the next best thing.

It's fantasy football only for the playoffs. Pick your players each week while keeping tour team under the salary cap (which means no Brady, Moss, Manning, LT all together).

Haven't noticed?  We've all noticed, and all arrived at a different conclusion.  Just because you praised a team after destroying them doesn't mean you aren't smug.  It could mean that you like the team and wanted to compliment them.  It could mean that you wanted to compliment them on managing to lose by a few touchdowns instead of getting shut out, thereby continuing to rub their nose in it.  It could mean that you're paying lip service to the media to try to salvage a struggling PR.  But it doesn't mean you aren't smug.  That takes repeated cases of humility, not little random hit and run segments.

You can say anything you want to say off the field when you take the time to think about everything you do or say and weigh its reaction with the press.  The true story is on the field where you're fighting to win.  It's one thing to find to win.  It's quite another to do the kind of crap that the Patriots did and do stuff that they know is going to piss everyone else off.  Finger in an eye anyone?  Going out of your way to talk trash to the opposing team's head couch?  Coming off of one of the biggest wins of the season, on a game that you won partially because the other team screwed up and provided you the saving grace to win it, and then blowing off their coach?  The Pats' humility to smugness record stands at 1-3, and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

Belicheck didn't win because of his cheating.  He won in spite of it, because the Patriots went 16-0.  If they had gone 15-1 with a loss after 14-0, he wouldn't have won it.

You say that Eric Mangini was a jerk to Belicheck.  Would that be because he did the honest thing and turned him in?  Tony Dungy was a jerk to Belicheck?  HA!  Who blew off who at the Pats - Indy game?  I remember reading an article that a guy wrote for Yahoo saying that one of the reasons people probably hated the Patriots was because Belicheck blew off Dungy at that game.  Let me repeat that once more - Belicheck blew off Dungy.  If anyone was being the galactic jerk at that game, it was Belicheck.  And the concept of making a mistake and coming back better than ever is usually applied to making some sort of costly oversight, not willfully engaging in cheating.  That's not a mistake in the same sense.  Oversights and other such stuff are human error.  Premeditated<

He made a mental mistake.  He claims he didn't know it was in the rules, which is still inexcusable for a Hall of Fame coach, but even if he had known, he still screwed up.  One thing though is certain.  Gibbs wouldn't have made that call knowing that it was against the rules and hoping to get away with it.

People can praise someone to their face and belittle them left and right behind their back.  Except for helping someone get something out of their eye (which Wilfork obviously wasn't doing) what useful purpose did what he do serve?  Only reason he did that was either to rub it in the Jacobs' face, or just annoy him.  Everyone knows that.  Praising someone doesn't necessarily mean you did it because you believe it.  This kind of stuff happens in droves every year all across the world when someone cooks holiday dinner for them, and it sucks, but they tell the person it was fantastic.  They either don't want to hurt the cook's feelings, or they don't want to look like a rat.  The same principle can apply to praising someone.  They may not truly think what they're saying, but they say it anyway because it looks good.

My mom side of the family is from pittsburg, my cousin does the espn radio postgame show for them or somthing, and my grandma is related to the rooney family in someway, so, pretty much everyone in my family except for my household (mom, dad, sister, me) is probably depressed today.
