My name is peek-a-boo (pronounced feed me donuts) from Houston.

Checking this site, reading about mods, eventually would like to contribute some lots of my own like starting with the Texas Medical Center in Houston followed by the Houston Galleria Mall. Later, I'd like to try doing one for Houston space center since we are in need of some proper space port and finally I like to try out doing a collection of American public universities in Texas like A&M College Station, University of Texas, A&M College Station. Least but not last I can't forget about my favorite Texas fast food restaurant "whataburger" and a barge collecting crawfish for CS$ lots.

Bought this game through steam back in 04 I think but never had the computer RAM to play it! I din't like SimCity 2013 and I din't want to spend $200 dollars on skyline.

sagi and male so 01 and shit I forgot the rest.

It's a major mod which spreads out the growth stages over 15 levels instead of the original 8 that came set up in the original (and RH/Deluxe) game. While it's a really cool concept, I personally would not recommend it for your first mod to install. Here's a real good introductory explanation: The CAM (Colossus Addon Mod) - Separating Fact From Fiction.

Also, @xxdita is now continuing the project so there might be later updates to it.

 Hello! Guess I should post something here before I'm no longer "new". My first SimCity experience was on SNES. I remember seeing someone playing SC2000 on a PC and it blew my mind. Spent a bunch of time on SC3000 several years ago, then finally got around to SC4 last year and have been enjoying all the great custom content found here. Thanks to everybody who has contributed so much to this community. So cool to see such an old game still flourishing.

In my spare time I tend to doodle fictional city maps, and  I've been messing around with creating my own city simulator in Javascript with 2D pixel art, in the style of SimCity Classic. Terrain editor is fully functional but attempting even the barest minimum simulator engine itself is an imposing task. I have even more respect now for the work that went into the complexity of modern city sims.

Hi @mmprog and welcome to forum posting. *:)

I saw a few of your replies in the 64-bit Mac thread with it not behaving properly at present.

Hopefully they get that addressed and it's very important how compatibility with custom content is in mind. I'm not a Mac user myself, but I hope all goes well there and they do consider communities like ours which are vital for the game's longevity between multiple platforms. If they can make the game stable on 64-bit Mac systems, and even address the shortcomings with the existing version (like the Rep bug and files limit), that would go a long way to greater playability.

It is amazing how SC4 continues to thrive, and long may that continue into the future. Sounds cool with your artistic interests too, and city building is very much a creative hobby that fits well into how we can each express our diverse imaginations. That's what sets it above other genres of games for me personally.

Hi John and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

As you may have found, we do have a SC4 Maps category on the STEX where they're stored. Many of these are in grayscale format, which means they can be rendered using the standard game option. Then for SC4M files and those use the higher accuracy precision that the SC4Mapper tool can handle.

On a related note, you may find these tutorial posts useful:

Let us know if you've any specific questions with the process, and enjoy the game and site.

Oh wow, it's been a while since I was online here.  RL has eaten up much of my time.  Getting back to something more normal now with work and marking out of the way (for now).  London city (SC4) is going well financially, will post (hopefully) some pics soon.

Hello, everyone! I thought I'd post a reply here. I love Cities: Skylines and SimCity 4 and I'm looking forward to New Cities. I've been following/posting on their Discord and I've been following their developer blog. I purchased an alpha key, but my current computer isn't up to running it.

Also, I'm a little disappointed that my current computer can't run Gobias's Sudden Valley Terrain Mod. Yes, the game crashes to desktop in hardware mode. I'm using a ThinkPad T430 with Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Other than those three games, I'm really looking to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

You can see a list of my current goals in my "About me" on my profile page!

Hi @Turnstyled and welcome to the forums! *:)

It's nice when members who've been around for a while still decide to post an intro here. I'm still into SC4 also and there sure is something special about city building games for me too. It's how they allow an expression of creativity, and also the technical side I find fascinating as I've begun to learn more about modding aspects.

For your computer issues, that sure sounds frustrating. It might be worth opening a topic in the Bugs & Tech forum where those with expert understanding of hardware might be able to assist. I did find this topic which related to Intel HD Graphics and compatibility, but it's a few years old now and so I'm unsure whether it'd still apply. Another thought is to check you're using the -CPUcount:1 parameter on your game's startup switches (which can help with stability by limiting to a single processor core).

@Cyclone Boom

Thanks! I'm using that parameter. I will build a new PC at some point. It'll hopefully be by the end of this year. Not that I'm looking for support in this thread, but I thought I was using the latest Intel graphics drivers as of the release of Windows 10 1909 (November 2019 Update). Upon closer inspection, that might not be the case, though. If updating my drivers doesn't work, then I'll post in that forum.

Hiya, @Turnstyled. (I recognize you from another thread and the CD PM.) *:)

One thing about graphic card drivers is sometimes you have to go the opposite way from common wisdom. Instead of the latest version, you might need a much older one where it still supported the old DirectX which SC4 utilizes.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. I'm very much into security. These links describe four separate instances of vulnerabilities being found.

https://googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2017/02/attacking-windows-nvidia-driver.html

https://www.techspot.com/news/81291-nvidia-patches-five-vulnerabilities-encourages-users-update-display.html

https://www.techpowerup.com/263237/amd-quietly-patched-four-major-gpu-security-vulnerabilities-with-radeon-20-1-1-drivers

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/intel-fixes-high-severity-vulnerabilities-in-graphics-driver-for-windows/

Google's Project Zero blog gets VERY technical, but these are four separate instances in which vulnerabilities have been found and patched in GPU drivers.

Edit: I understand what you're saying, but I personally won't do it.

While I'm not going to check out the linkys, it's good to disagree if there are security issues.

My own game comp is completely isolated without even a network cable plugged into it, so my advice was from the game's perspective. *;)

Like I said in my edit, I understood. I won't operate that way, though.

Even an air-gapped computer (one that has no network interfaces connected to other networks) can be attacked, but I won't get pedantic or forceful. You do what works for you. *:)

Thanks so much! I used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to uninstall my GPU drivers and I then installed the latest drivers for Intel 3rd Gen. Sudden Valley works now! No CTDs! *:D

Hi, I am 60 and love city building games. I live alone in a wonderful Apartment in Melbourne Victoria Australia. I am Vision and Hearing-impaired.  I also have Degenerative Spondylitis which responds well to my Massage office chair while I am playing SimCity 4 Delux Edition. I have SimCity into the Future and The Sims, but it won't play on my computer.  I am an Admin running a game group for my Sister in Pet City on Facebook. I have studied visual art and now looking for ways to continue my Art with my Blindness.*:) I forgot to mention that my voice recognition software is new and together we are learning how to spell the words I pronounce. it is often hilarious as I have a speech impediment due to my Deafness*:kitty:, so Please ignore any type mistakes .

Hi @BalanceDeer and welcome to Simtropolis! *:)

The wonderful thing I find with SC4 is it can be a form of digital art given it's a creative game rather than a destructive one. That is even if it can be classed as a "game" also because there's no set start and ending point, nor any predefined goals except to avoid reaching -$100k and being forced to run for Senator.

I'm not too sure whether it'll be any help for your vision impairment, but just thought I'd mention our Color Blind Views for Deuteranopia mod.

Hope you enjoy the community, and it's great to have you here too.

Welcome, @BalanceDeer!

I actually plan to move to the suburbs of Melbourne someday. The suburbs because the big city is too much for me. I live near New York City and it’s a nightmare for me. I plan to move to Nanaimo, British Columbia first, though, so that I have something to fall back on.

A quality chair goes a long way!

Thank you Turnstyled, Compared to New York The City of Melbourne might seem like a Large Country Town. I have lived all through Australia, Country, and Cities. Australia is wanting people to move into the outer suburbs, especially those from overseas.                                                                                                                                                                              Yes, my chair is a must-have.  Sitting in it to get a  massage first thing when I awake gets me going for the day :)

Massage chairs were big here in the early 2000s because mall novelty stores like The Sharper Image were selling them. Now, malls here have them for people to use for some deposited coins.

@Turnstyled They are everywhere here in stores and you can purchase them online. I find those store ones, way too painful. Mine is far more gentler it's an 8 point Shiatsu Massage office Chair.

Hi Ava Zinn, welcome to ST and the world of city-building. *:8)

I'm only a SC4 mayor (and modder) here myself, but I've heard some good things about Skylines and how there's some really creative authors of content too. I'm sure you'll have discovered our dedicated forum sections for the game, and there's still quite a few people who contribute there. Hope you enjoy the site!
