It sounds like you've made a mighty fine choice there in returning to the city-building genre.

One thing for certain is the community here still advances strongly all these years later, and new custom content and modding discoveries continue to arise. We hope you enjoy it here, and it's never too late to get into what for many is much, much (much) more than just a game.

Hi CorinaMarie,

Thank you for the welcome. 

I've done the tutorials and started fresh on the New York region stock standard with lots of flat terrain but zero sims.  This will be my template to make a squillion mistakes on without loosing the the pre-set cities already done on Timbuktu.

Just don't get overwhelmed by all you see here ... some players are using SC4 modded beyond recognition!  Myself, I actually like the Maxis vanilla game, but I'm slowly acquiring a few mods here and there.  

Some of the early pages in the showcase have lots of broken image links, so you might find it best to just jump to the last page and work back from there, in most of the Showcase threads.  e.g.

One of the community is using a model I created and uploaded to 3D Warehouse and passing this off as their own work. 

They have neither requested my permission to use my work, nor credited me as having created it. 

What is the procedure for getting this removed?

You've sure arrived to the ideal community, and here along with at SC4Devotion really have been around for over 15 years now and still going strong. Especially if into SimCity 4 and there's lots of useful info and contend posted around the site (and also at the LEX too).

To first play SC4 at such a young age and it sure must hold fond memories for you too. I remember back in those times growing up, and now it's amazing how even all these years later it's still a focussed interest for many of us. I never would've believed that back then, but it's certainly on reflection been such a journey (and one which still continues).

Hope you enjoy the site too as much as we do in sailing and steering the ship of Simtropolis.

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to say hello.  I just got back into SimCity 4 after a long layoff thanks to Microsoft.  Started with the vanilla game but I've started to add more files and features and I'm really enjoying it.

Glad to hear you've just decided to make a return to SC4 and it's working for you now. It must've been frustrating when it didn't do so, but no worries.

The great thing is the community continues to thrive even now past its 17th birthday. To resume your mayoral duties vanilla style is a good strategy to begin, and then adding more toppings as you go along. Just like ice cream or pizzas, we each have our own preferences for what goes on top. The same for icing on cakes too.
