Now that my home site SC4Devotion has been shut down - who can tell me where and how I can get an ID range for my own textures? Thanks a lot!

@Tarkus was handling this previously, generally speaking there isn't an explicit place to request ranges whilst we try to set things up anew. Hopefully Tarkus will see this and be able to assist.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

0xF9440000-0xF947FFFF is all yours.

I've just converted the Texture Index into a Google Sheet, and will be sharing it with site staff and my NAM Team colleagues, such that maintaining it won't need to fall on one person.

Thanks a lot! Now I definitely need to figure out how to create new textures. Originally I wanted to add diagonals to a set and extract the texture from the set. Found it with Reader but speochering doesn't work - it saves a copy somewhere without letting me choose a destination folder?

You can change the folder the Reader uses to save exported files under Option - Options. A window will open up, and the text field where you can make the necessary changes is on the bottom left, below "Copy/Save default folder".

Honestly I've been around the block a bit with textures and whilst it has a learning curve, you really want to try out GoFSH if you are getting into this area. Ultimately it is a complete tool set for any sort of heavy texture work.

Hi - sorry I wasn't sure where else to ask this! Can I request a texture range, or confirmation of the one I used to have/use (under previous username/SimCity Aviation Group)?

Hello. I would like an IID range.

I'm having trouble getting custom textures to work in SimCity 4. I've created a DAT file with multiple textures using SC4 Tool, but the game only recognizes the first texture. I've checked the TGI files and they seem to be generated correctly. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

If you generated multiple textures but you never changed the initial IID, then the game probably keeps overwriting everything you made.

So yes, requesting a range and then keeping track of which IIDs you already used may clear this issue up for you.

Also, make sure if the rest of your textures are not in overlay or base sections! It might be the case that only one of them is overlay / base and this is why you (correctly) can't find the others. Something I learned to check too.

What specific IDs are you using?, a screenshot showing the contents of the DAT would be useful to identify the problem.

Sounds to me like you've accidentally used the wealthing groups, by using certain ID schemes, those textures are grouped together and regardless of which is added to a lot, the one that actually appears is dependent of the wealth of said lot. In essence the first four digits of the IID are completely free to use, it's the 'Family' all your IDs belong too. The 5th digit controls wealth when 0-3 is used, but 4-F can be freely used here. The 6th and 7th digits are completely free to use all values from 0-F. The 8th digit determines the zoom level, every full size texture requires 4 smaller 'MipMaps', each texture requires 5 IDs where 0 is the smallest MipMap and 4 is the largest texture. But there are three possible groups you can use, 0-4, 5-9 and A-E, which in theory triples the number of textures you can make from a given set of IDs. That said, for most purposes sticking with 0-4 is just easier and if you get a range you'll probably have more IDs than you can practically use.

The other common error people make is using the default ID scheme built into SC4 Tool:

    SC4-Tool-Tex-ID.jpg

You are supposed to define your personal texture range (once assigned), I can't remember how you enter this though. But if you do, it keeps track of used IDs and just generates the next one when you make a new texture.

@Tarkus: There are a few range requests here outstanding.

I've noted your return of this IID range on the index spreadsheet.

@JoelMk2 and I already determined over PM some months ago that he's good to continue using his existing range under his previous username.

I was using the fifth digit with a value between 0 and 3. Once I changed that, it was resolved.

    Thanks.

Hi, I'm needing a handful of texture IID's for ground textures, I've just used 12 that were humbly donated to me that finished my project, but I'm after another small amount just in case I missed something. Thank you.

If you need just a handful, I can allot you a whole smaller range: 0xF9580000-0xF958FFFF

Thank you, sorry for my ignorance but the person who shared the last group sent me a txt file with the consecutive twelve IID numbers (hex) listed. I realised there was a pattern but not sure where to start....the last 2 digits went 04...09...0E...14...19...1E etc. Do I use the same principal or is there a tool I'm meant to be using. I was keeping track on a spreadsheet.

Yes, generally, that pattern should work.  rsc204's post earlier in this thread has lots of good details that may prove useful.

Ha, thanks, I read through that post when searching on how the consecution went, but can see now what rsc204 was implying, I completely over thought it.
After seeing rsc204's spreadsheet, I defiantly don't need that many but I'll chop away, I'll follow this thread and in the future if I see someone looking for a few I can, with your/admin approval, pass some on.

Yeah, so about that spreadsheet, I only included the F5984XXX part of the range, 768 IDs in total. Whereas your range includes 12 times as many if you continue from F5985xxx through to F598Fxxx.

Honestly, it doesn't make sense from a management perspective to give out 10 IDs here and there, so everyone gets a range with 9,216 IDs reserved.
