Problem with parking textures on relots

I seem to have a problem with three nos.17 's B62 relots, concerning parking textures, Caldor, Bradlee's and BJ Warehouse (see pict below) ; the dep required is SHK Parking Pack, which I had (select White Overlay) and replaced with the one with both overlays (yellow and white)  and SuperSHK Parking textures which is listed as obsolete as of February 2016, replaced by the SuperMegaPack, which I had too (the lots were all uploaded in March and May 2016, i.e. from after the change). I noticed that there is a SHK parking.dat in the latter. Can this cause the problem ? (I dare not take it out on my own initiative... *:) )

To allay your worries about the Super SHK packs by King of Sim City, if you have the lastest one, you won't need anything else. Except for the original pack by SHK of course.

However, I seem to recall a similar issue popping up recently, where the dependency requires for the base textures was actually from Nos.17:

If you don't have that, try installing it to see if that fixes your problem.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I had it installed. Problem persists. The texture is obviously missing (waterbug, pict 1) ; and if I take SHK parking out, the lines disappeared on several lots (pict 2).

Then it must be something else that's missing. The missing part is the base texture or concrete though, you can clearly see the overlays are all there, which is pretty much what the pack from KOSC comprises.

SHK does have some base textures inside the file SHK_ParkingPack.dat, which I'm assuming you must have accidentally removed. You need both this and one of the files for the overlays, either White or Yellow, depending on your preference. Without that file you wouldn't see the cars though, which is very odd? However a cursory glance at the Caldor lots show the base texture is indeed inside the SHK_ParkingPack.dat file.

I didn't remove anything from SHK Parkings ; but I removed the folder because I thought you were telling me I was OK with only the SuperMegaPack., However I had the 2012 version. Let's see if the 2013 version changes anything once back int the plugins folder...

No re the parking textures (but the lines show up again.).

I'm nonplussed (or rather minussed). Must I absolutely choose white or yellow lines ? the readme seemed to indicate that no.

II lack the technical knowledge to formulate any hypothesis...

...and replacing the version of KOSC SuperMega.etc.textures by a more recent one didn't change anything either.

It's a one or the other choice, because the IDs are the same, only one set is white, the other is yellow. If you install both, whichever loads later will override the other file.

My point though is that the texture you are missing is inside this file from SHK's Parking Pack (nothing to do with KOSC's addon):

    SHK_ParkingPack.dat

If you have it installed, something must be wrong with it. I verified it absolutely by downloading the lot from NOS 17, using SC4-PIM to see which texture was on the lot. So there is no question the file you need is the one above from this pack:

That is the one I have in my plugins folder (and that I ReDLed, just to be sure.)

.... but I had it twice (one was hidden in the deps of another lot/folder.

However, having at last only one SHK_Parking.dat didn't change anything. The textures are still missing.

Then the only thing I can think of is that the lots you are using differ from the one I downloaded. It did say on the download it was updated recently, perhaps try re-downloading the lots?

@tariely ... It looks like all of the lots you have are outdated ones. With regard to BJ's, and Bradlees, they all use a base texture found in My Essentials Pack. It essentially is a copy of the Maxis concrete texture but re IId's to avoid wealth effects. It seems that between versions of my essentials, I swapped around the IId's of that concrete baste texture with a different overlay, wreaking havoc on the lot. THis was pointed out to me by @GamerTimeUS, and was fixed with version 09, I think (I'm on version 10 now). So if you don't have nos.17 Essentials v10, please redownload and that should fix those issues. Also, you should need to redownload those three lots (at least) for the issue to be resolved. You can use the links I gave you above.

Not sure why you're having an issue with Caldor, as it uses a Maxis texture, but another download couldn't hurt there either.

With Target, rsc is correct that the textures come from SHK. Actually, mine are in a file called SHK_ParkingTextures_02_Overlays_White.dat

    Quote

In addition there are 2 files which contain the bulk of the overlays. Two identical sets have been created utilizing both white and yellow space lines. The textures from each set have identical TGI's to enable easy configuration for either ALL WHITE or ALL YELLOW lines.

If the file structure is left intact, by default all lots will show white lines. If so desired the SHK_ParkingTextures_02_Overlays_White.dat file can be removed which will then enable all lots to utilize yellow lines.

    1

Granted, shokthrpy did not write this in the clearest manner, but I think it's pretty clear that one or the other can (should) be used. They both serve the same purpose, so why would you need them both anyway?

In the mean time, there's a new, prettier, version of the Target Super Center you're using:

I think its a shame that people aren't automatically notified of changes to files they download.

If we follow a file, we are notified. I only realized this not very long ago, like... last year ! But I've been downloading stuff voraciously since.... 2005 !

You are right, rsc204  and nos.17 (I DLed your lots as you uploaded them --not thinking of following because, you know, I always think everything is certainly perfect the first time ! ) And I had come to that conclusion (reupload...changes...) when I noticed that lots that were for instance not working in the B62 StationService pack first iteration were gone or did work in the second one... and vice versa ; problem with reupload is that other problems may crop up, of course...*:) I am going to reDL as advised, but I do have v10 of your Essentials (those ones are among the few I thought of following, so I am noticed when !)

    ............ working..........working.............working........

Well, nothing works. None of the three reuploaded files. None. Ans yes,, I took out the previous ones. And yes I rechecked the deps. And I am thoroughly confused because the readme of the indicated Target mentions a Nos.17 essential v11, which does not exist.

Yes, but I'm of the opinion that you should be automatically following a file if you download it. I see many uploads with thousands or tens of thousands of downloads and maybe a dozen followers. That just doesn't make sense to me. It makes it hard to distribute fixes for my lots, which, unfortunately, have been needed.

That is probably a safe assumption with rsc, but with me? Nope. *

Well, I just tried everything with a blank plugins folder, lots and dependencies freshly downloaded from the STEX, and everything worked fine. Rename your current plugins folder and create a new one with only the items required lots and required dependencies. Let me know if that works.

Essentials v11 indeed does not exist. I clearly confused myself when writing that. Apologies! *:(

I wonder if this is something @Cyclone Boom could add in. At least have a pop up asking if one wants to follow the file and stating the good reasons for doing so. (I confess I'm guilty of not following stuff I've downloaded.)

I must say, I'm not a fan of adding a default pop up asking. If I wanted this, I'd select the option manually. For everyone that didn't, now that's an extra button we have to click for each download. That would get old quickly if you were starting out and wanted a lot of files.

One other concern, what is the trigger for "updated files". I often review my uploads and edit the descriptions or upload without altering the files themselves. The site shows those files as being updated, but in reality they have not, can we be sure this would be limited to actual file changes only?

Update : I found the culprit : there was an obsolete versions of Nos.17 essentials floating around. Lucky for me it was in my BASICS folder, at the very beginning of the Halfsies process :-)

RELIEF. I can play on, now. Thanks for the support moral and technical, guys and gals.:-)
