More options on lot like a McDonald's pack with all the McDonald's relots with 2 or 3 lot options for each lot. And do more with all the lots maybe a couple Arby's and Bojangles. KFC, Taco Bell and many more.

    IRM relots would be great.

    Marinas could use some love.

    How about the military bases?

Sorry this came so late, hopefully you haven't disappeared.

Well, as much as it'd be nice to get back into relotting, its kind of hard when your game has been accidently deleted. I don't quite feel like repurchasing the game, especially since I may look into getting a new computer. So, at least for the time being, I'm not looking to do any projects.

Industry and military are something I'd prefer not to touch, as I don't have a lot of confidence to make the lot surrounding it look good. Others are doing a phenomenal job with industry and I don't feel the need to help in that regard.

If anyone is willing to make new commercial stuff, it be a whole lot more likely I'd repurchase the game to help out with the lotting.

So, here's a thought. I've been kind of debating with myself to make a few retail buildings if I can learn how. I'd love to maybe get some brands not seen in game. (Save a Lot, Peebles, etc.)

Of course this would require me to repurchase the game, so I want to be sure that I would have to access to make BATs if I so choose. Anybody know of way to get the game without the annoying patch that prevents one from downloading the BAT stuff?

It's on sale on Steam for $3.99, but the sale ends March 15th. http://store.steampowered.com/app/24780/SimCity_4_Deluxe_Edition/

@rsc204Is on top of which versions are which, and can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all versions except for the Origin version will work for BATing etc.

GOG is slightly better than Steam, which has some light DRM. GOG also goes on sale several times a year. But Steam is on sale right now, and you can't beat $3.99.

Sounds to me like Walmart were just re-selling the borked Origin version of the game, since this one has all the problems with patches etc. It's worth pointing out that generally a digital purchase means you've paid for a licence to play the game. So if you need to re-download it once more, when logging into your account where you purchased it, that option should be there.

However, the Origin edition won't allow you to install SC4 BAT, because changes made to SC4 cause the checksum (validation) to fail when it looks to make sure you've a copy of SC4 installed. This issue, along with the patch one is unique to the Origin version, yes they sell the most broken version! I've not heard of one example of these issues from non-origin vendors. Pretty much all others give you a pre-patched game (version 1.641) and SC4 BAT should install just fine.

Generally speaking I personally would go for a DRM free edition, but then again at $3.99 on sale, its hard to ignore the price difference at this point.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

    Thank you very much fellas!

I'm not promising anything in the BAT side of things, but it will be nice to play around with it.

    Don't be surprised if I ask for a lot of help. :}

I can now say that I've tried to BAT, but I can only get as far as making completed walls. The Bat essential tutorial loses me at how to combine all four walls together and the stuff beyond that.

I'm still open to lotting things if people are willing to make some new commercial stuff. I'm doing that with @Ceafus 88, if he's still okay with making stuff.

Must be he hasn't gotten fixed. Haven't heard anything either way.

Where would one ask for further help?

Any BAT related questions can be asked at:

But we've already tried figuring out his problem, and iirc, no one here or anywhere else on the internet knows what to do. *:(

Thanks! I'll be sure to take a look at that. For those wondering I'll simply be using Gmax if I do manage to make some buildings.

That's sad to hear for Ceafus. I was hoping the issue would be sorted out.

I'd make buildings with ease if there was a simple way to convert buildings made on the Sketchup program into the file needed for gmax without breaking the bank. I'm honestly looking into making buildings, but boy this is challenging undertaking. Gmax is just to confusing for me to figure out.

It always makes me happy to see some of my less-utilized textures being put to use in someone else's creation. :D

Nice to see you back in action! Good stuff with those diagonals... are those custom 1x8 and 1x9 filler strips? It's a cool little concept to bring some "irregular" shaped lots into the game. Stuff like this really makes me wish an RHW disconnector-like feature that also worked with normal lots exists.

I've been playing around with the textures as you can see. I honestly had no idea one could mirror textures up until about Wednesday of last week. I'm planning to redo at least some of my plazas and malls publically. I may redo some other stuff as well. Not likely I will redo everything, that would be a huge waste of time given one could that in lot editor themselves.

The diagonals are indeed are multiple lots put together though in different sizes. The idea actually came to me when I was in bed; sometimes the best ideas come from there. :D

@RRetail The trick I use to make diagonal lots for myself is to map it all in excel where one cell=one tile. I'll then highlight various blocks of cells different colors and then make lots accordingly.

Just as a warning, I will be removing my plazas/shopping centers that are currently on the STEX. The plan is to replace them with better ones, so if you do want ANY of them, download ASAP. Some of the current plazas will not be replaced as I'm not happy with them after learning new things. Some of the old plazas will be kept with no updates (such as Valley View), but moved into one folder.

It is possible you may see some other lot packs disappear, but if you do, know they will be replaced. I do not plan to redo every relot I've done.

Anyone here know how one would share pics from gmax?

I'd also like some advice when it comes to texturing as that is giving me a massive headache.

Shouldn't it work to simply press the Print Screen button while in gmax and then opening whatever graphics software and selecting "copy/insert from clipboard..."?

What's giving you trouble when it comes to texturing? Is it gmax bleaching out colours beyond recognition in some cases?

I have no idea. I was trying to figure this out, but for the life of me I cannot. I'm not getting any options showing up with hitting the print screen button.

That honestly does sound like one of the issues. I may need to give another attempt at following the tutorial.

Well, this is normal behaviour. All the Print Screen button does is silently copy a screenshot to the Windows clipboard - from which you can insert it into any graphics application. To do so, you can either use a function like "Create/Insert from clipboard" if the softwae in question offers such an option (I know GIMP does), or you simply open the program (MS Paint should do the trick) and hit [Ctrl]+[V], the normal, all-purpose Windows "Insert" hotkey. This should work.
