Yeah I'll take a crack at a simple generic station aggressively complicated multi-modal transfer station based on a specific prototype

Gonna cut some holes for elevators, UV mapping and let's go texture work.

Anaheim Transport might be next, although I might need help with subbuilding coding, anytips before the beginning is appreciated.

Well, I'm the silently reading type of a community member, but I'm so stunned by this project that I actually have to write!

Of course I'll re-release my subway train sets (Budd UTV and Boeing-Vertol 2400) to fit this mod :)

Actually I see many benefits in having heavy rail, tram and metro separated. Mainly for sound replacing it's interesting as all three vehicle types have their different type of sound which I altered using this mod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=641341874&searchtext=sound

also we got different network speeds for those systems as trams can't drive faster than 100km/h in most cases and regional trains go up to 200km/h. Metros on the other hand are somewhere in between (up to 120km/h outside of tunnels I think).

Finally we got something even better than in SC4 back in the days! Great job! ;)

@Delta2k5

The trams in C:S have a max speed of 100 km/h but can't actually reach that speed due to speed limits on the roads, but some real trams go faster than this - the Electroliner on the previous page could reach 140 km/h.

The trains run with a max speed of 120 km/h, and the metros are slightly slower than that - probably around 80 km/h or so, but I don't know for sure. I'll need to test it a bit more.

Real commuter lines frequently operate with a max speed of 120-160 km/h, while no third-rail powered vehicle in use is able to exceed 180 km/h - and that's a heavy rail train, not a metro vehicle. Real metros usually top out aorund the 100 to 120 km/h, IIRC.

When do we get underground tram stations? CO pls.

Yeah, I was talking about real life too, not the games limits :P

Sorry for being not that clear ;)

Yes people, there is a healthy number of train stock models out there.  Elevated stations and rendered subway stations will be much in demand!  Later today, I will open up a semi-closed beta for those who are interested in testing and station making!  All from this thread are welcome to test as long as you delete the files before subscribing to the mod once it is officially released. Obviously if/when you find any issues, post them here.

I'll be happy to put it through the works if you're looking for more testers.  This is the most exciting mod for CS, can't thank you enough for making it.

This sounds fantastic, if you need testers, let me know. Made an account here just to say that; super excited about above-ground metros!

@andreharv I'd love to test the mod! I have a relatively-fresh city, and it would be nice to incorporate this and see how it would function!

Awesome guys!  I am just doing finishing touches on POC rendered subway station.  Not much longer to wait :)

Due to time constraints the mesh and textures of the station will be almost nonsense...but enough to get the idea...

@andreharv Nice! What theme are you going for with the stations? NYC? Moscow?

@andreharv That's what I was thinking. No point in wasting time on a model that won't be in the final version :)

Also, is it okay if I post pictures of the beta?

Proper stations sound great. Is it possible to model any stations after Beijing's metro? I know those firsthand and it'd be really cool to implement in my cities. But I understand it takes time and energy!

I don't mean to spam the thread, but I'd also love to test this if possible. I've been quietly following this thread for a few months now and I'm very impressed with what you've achieve!.

Okay, so at the moment everything seems to be fine. I have 41 mods enabled (including metro overhaul) ad haven't experienced any mod conflict. I have however, suddenly encountered a massive lag spike just seconds after placing the tracks. Now, first of all - my standard Dell laptop with absolutely no GPU probably wasn't designed to do anything with games in the first place. But I still think that the models aren't that high of a poly count to be triggering rendering lag.

Below this is proof that the mod is working and I was able to load everything fine. Could not get a picture of the tracks in time.

EDIT: It seems that there may have been some sort of conflict, as the GUI seemed to become unresponsive. I'll test a little more today, but I'll be home all day tomorrow and will probably be able to test quite a bit.

it works! the track textures look great! one thing i noticed is that aboveground tracks conflict with the underground tracks of stations.

Great thanks!  It looks like your metro depot is not showing up.  I will have to look into this as well.  In the meantime look in your assets and see if you need to manually turn it on.

The line tool isn't selecting for me either. Maybe because we don't have the actual depot?

So, now the depot appears, but it throws this error on loading:
