It would be possible.  However, there would be no way to adjust the width of the center platform and it would create a large junction with the conventional track which would take up a lot of space.  Furthermore, if it was one wide track, there would be no way to control which side of the station the trains go as each station track is bidirectional.  I will talk to BP about making the Multi-Track Station Enabler a prereq or perhaps even adding the code ourselves.

Within the code of the network is it possible to alter the position of the track and the platforms? If it is i think the concept would work regardless of the tracks being bidirectional. And i don't think that the junction would be made bigger if what i have in mind functions within the game mechanics

So, two questions:

1:

I found the station tracks for the single-track one way tracks. However, I have not been able to find the station tracks for the double-track one way rails. Do these exist, or have they simply not been made yet?

2:

Do you have any new cool pictures of the aboveground metro mod?

I've some questions about the metro overhaul mod.

How do you go about converting existing workshop trains to metro for this mod. I understand that you will be releasing another mod to do so however my question is whether the conversion is done by the asset creator or if it's possible for end users to do so locally. This will be particularly useful for people using assets which the author may not be updating.

Secondly I have the same question about stations. Will it be up to the asset creator to convert them to above ground metro stops or is the user able to do so? Will they be able to do so in game? Can players choose between rail and metro versions of the same station on the fly?

Will it be possible for multi track stations to feature both types of track? (heavy rail and metro that is). Will modular stations such as badpeanut's have modules of both type? (If players can convert stations themselves that question is obviously redundant and otherwise perhaps it's a question for himself)

Will it be possible to upgrade existing lines to metro track without relaying them? That is to say will there be a tool to convert existing rail to metro rail without having to delete it and replace it.

Will the extended platform size be automatically applied to all current underground stations or will it require an edit of the asset? Will underground networks require rebuilding if the platform length has increased and therefore the tunnel connection might not align?

Will it be compatible with or already feature your single lane tracks and one way tracks for metro? Will these come in tunnel form aswell?

I appreciate that I've asked a lot of questions but these are all just questions that I've had since the announcement of this mod and if they were clarified I'd understand the mod fuller.

I'm really looking forward to this mod and the possibilities for city building it will bring. I know based on previous work by its creators that it will be to an excellent standard and am eagerly awaiting it.

on converting assets on the fly - i don't think so, that's not how the game works

will my modular stations be both? No. I will not be supporting metro overhaul with my current train stations. I doubt you'd be able to edit them effectively without causing them to stop working...

That's a pity. The ability to have metro and train modules of your stations would have led to some very interesting systems. The possibility to expand on the separation of interest and intra city lines with above and below ground lines would have been interesting. Thank you for the swift response.

This is already possible! I edited an elevated train station to also have an underground metro track, and it works flawlessly - both the train and the metro platforms are in use. I would be very surprised if it ends up not working when this mod gets released.

I have it from a second-hand (and thus not totally reliable) source that the development drew out, but is still ongoing. It would be nice to see some new dev screenshots to get the hype up, though :)

@andreharv how does the retro fitting work? will there be code to rewrite someones station in game on the fly or will it involve duplicates of stations needing to be created?

I'm thinking of releasing Flinders St Station as two stations, one for vanilla trains and one for metro overhaul.

@andreharv Good to see some new info! Can't wait to add this to my new city!

@R3V0 That's pretty cool! Would love to see something like that.

All those details... it's so prettyyyyy!

Especially in the tunnels, it really gives a feeling of speed even in the still images.

I am officially hyped up now.

Wow, that bridge looks fantastic (as do the tunnels)!
Too bad bridge types are tied to specific network types: I mean, how awesome would it be to be able to - for example - use the 4+4 lane cable stayed bridge for highways as well, or that above-ground metro bridge for 1+1 lane roads?

Here are those pictures I promised (for like 5 hours ago but still).  We are seeing light at the end of the tunnel (you like what I did eh?  EH?)

Have you thought of making a sunken station track but using the same code that slope networks use? metro seem to have a lot of sunken stations - would be interesting to see if i could be done (would be a better solution the the current sunken train stations)

While I have no intention to hijack the thread:

Central piece: Supposedly 2 way metro, side will have 1 way train transfer. I'm thinking to make that side modular as a matter in fact, something like Bad Peanut's modular train station, but thise one will have different transfer options (1 or 2 way train, tram or metro)

Have no clue how-to though, LMAO.

IMO, might be a more useful asset with 1-way rail on both sides of 2-way metro?

@R3V0: With concepts like those, you can do all the hijacking your heart desires.  Actually new stations will be in very high demand, both for single rail and metro overhaul pieces.
