The bridge and the tunnel entrance remind me of my model railway days. Memories.

Not to crash the thread, but I was just telling someone the other day that Cities Skylines was essentially the digital equivalent of a model train set. I just thought it was kind of a funny observation.

Very nice assets, Tomcat.

This is a good sign for me :D

It reminds me how awesome it would be how awesome custom selectable tunnel entrances would be. But also a PAIN to implement, like all Network Skins features.

I hate CO for static prefab system they used for networks, buildings, props, trees and everything else.... basically it means that there is always only one version of an asset, with fixed category, level, stats, texture and mesh.

It would be really cool because these static assets dont fit the terrain everytime you need to work on terrain also. It would be great to have them just like vanilla tunnel entrances to see changing itself according to terrain, height etc.

    Re: props

    How about randomized architectural accents?

The woodwork on the balcony and eaves shapes are what really differentiate these Alpine houses in Austria and Germany. So maybe a series of props for different railings, balcony supports, eaves, wood accents, and roof-edgings?  They could be randomized so you get an interesting mix from house to house.

That is a good idea and it is also realistic as you gave examples. This would definitely differentiate houses from each other but the parts you mentioned are really high on tris count. It would be ok if this will be a park but since there will be lots of buildings I am really trying to decrease tris count on each houses. But I am also trying to make different styles even they are not detailed that much. Other than that different railings are good one! I will try that. Thank you for suggestions :)

You could also use the color variation system for slightly different roof colors.

I will try that. I think color variations will be different tons of brown. But I should include all wooden parts into color map I guess because if I just only change roof color it might become not coherent with rest of the building. I will be experiencing on that color schemes thanks.

  • It was a long time I havent been here so Hi again!

I released my chalet buillding theme with 4 buildings (I added one more today so 5 for now) and custom prop pack for chalets that includes few props to be used primarily in this theme. I will be adding more buildings (I hope) and I want to make few service buildings. For now I hope you enjoy with new theme. This theme looks better in winter maps in my opinion but in normal maps you can even see colourful flowers in front of windows and different coloured roofs of wooden houses so its up to you! Thanks for looking :) Chalet Building Theme workshop link

Boarding operation in Berlin-Schönefeld for flight DY1103 to Oslo-Gardermoen. Still at the passport control.

Morning operation at Schönefeld. I arrived this Monday morning from Gatwick into Berlin-Schönefeld. Passport control in Berlin isn't what you'd expect from a civilized country, so I took a couple of pictures to distract myself.

I have become more familiar in 3Ds Max and even gained enough expertise in it over the past few months that I think my skill level is approaching a point where I think I am good enough to start making mods for Cities: Skylines. I started practicing in 3DsMax to make brick rowhouses for the game Banished but since I am more interested in Cities: Skylines now and my buildings were practice so I can mod C:S, I decided to start a new project of making buildings just for Cities: Skylines.

I whipped this building up over the course of 4-7 hours today. It would have taken only 1 or 2 hours had I not made a ton of mistakes that required me to start from the beginning.

It will normally grow on a 4 tile wide x 3 tile deep lot with the ability to grow on a 4x4 lot with a backyard.
FYI, I plan on making a ColorMask for the outer 2 rowhouses so it could have more variety (bright red, pink, tan, and whitewashed).

Please give me feedback to help me improve the quality of my creations.

        Thank you!

So I figured I might as well make a topic here, as this is most likely not gonna be the last time I ask for you guys' oppinion.  If I remember, I'll post WIP and releases of my buildings here.
My current project is a bus depot that fits the european theme and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - but I've ended up with two sizes of it and I just can't decide which I like the best and could see myself using both. So I'd love some feedback - which you prefer or if it makes sense to upload both of them.
The small one is about the same size as the default one and has the same stats. The large one has slightly higher stats, but as depots can spawn infinite busses there's no benefit to the bigger one. I purely made it this large as the ones I took inspiration from were this size or bigger.
        Picture time!

        Hi Simtropolians,

I'm building my home town, Berlin, with the help of your many mods and assets (I am using 70+ mods and 600+ assets). I started playing Cities:Skylines about 2 months ago and I'm enthused by the activity happening here and in the Steam Workshop. Thank you guys!

I'm endeavoring to add some of my own custom assets to the Workshop, but I'm new to the entire process. I'm good at photoshop, but I suck at Blender! I booted blender for the first time last week, so I'm at the rough end of a steep learning curve. You guys have been very helpful to get me over a few stumbling points. Now I'm getting ready to publish a couple of items and I'd like to run them by you first. I'm trying to start simple, but even simple objectives seem to morph into week-long efforts. Please let me know how my work can be improved.

I've got a Checkpoint Charlie cooking (check my screenshot stream on steam or on twitter, if you're interested), but let's start with the Rosinenbomber from the Deutsches Technikmuseum:

I found a DC-3 model by Giovanni E and lifted it to the top of the stock library with some prop anarchy:

I was happy to find a DC-3, but the model has some texture problems (the illumination map is always fully on) because it's an old model and was probably made before After Dark. In wanting to fix the lighting problem, I wound up re-texturing the entire model to specifically be the famous Berlin C-47 "Rosinenbomber," as well as adding some propellers.

It's starting to look decent in-game, but I still have some shadowing issues that I'm working on around the windows.

I'd like to improve the body texture so that it looks more silvery and less white in the sun (I'm using PhotoReal3 LUT and Daylight Classic mods).

Here are my current diffuse and spec maps:

How would I go about improving the look of the body surface? I'd like it to be more shiny and silvery.

My next question is, what is a good approach to make the LOD model?

Thx for looking & thx in advance for your suggestions.
        -Ami
