Well landmarks are great, but don't create cities IMO. Good filler's are just as important as all those landmarks. Not sure if I or for example Feindbild did a pack for C:S if we'd be allowed to maintain the realistic style.

Is just a matter of balance. There is a lot of NY fillers already for too few landmarks. NYC has around 40 some landmarks, so if someone wants to work on realistic replicas of the city, right now you will have around only 5 art deco skyscrapers in game, plus a couple of modernist/post-modernists landmarks - and some of them not that tall. It is just too unrealistic as well to have so few options on that matter.

Never mind, found it myself. 171 W 71st St, New York. Fantastic attention to detail! Did you go there in person to take pictures yourself? Or was the internet kind enough to provide you with enough images.

I'm a dutchie (probably like you :)), so had to do with pictures of the internet. It's one of the most known 1900s condo's in NYC and very well pictured. The other most famous are The Ansonia, the Chatsworth, Alwyn Court, the Dakota, the St. Urban and the parkview at 777 madison avenue. Top details are always hard though and texturing was still a ton of work. About 200 layers in photoshop and about 40 hours on texturing and uving it.

Dutch people are everywhere on this forum! Fantastic building. Makes all the buildings around it look bad by comparison. The LOD shows some very weird really deep shadows, making it look different from the full model.

LOD should have projected shadows, but they shouldn't look that dark, Ill have a look tonight.

This is how mine looks. Granted it doesnt look supersharp, but transition should be hardly noticeable. I think the game downsizes my texture aswell, since this is how a render looks:

Anyone know something about this? LoD texture is 512x256

Perhaps softening up the LOD normal map some will help? Looks to me like the normal map is mainly to blame here - and since you're prob running with some nice mods to get better lighting/shadows it's less visible for you.

    Ace building and monstrous accomplishment.

Re: LOD -- Is there ever a situation where a normal map looks good on an LOD model? I just can't imagine one.

Stairs. You can replace them with a simple plane in your LOD mesh, then use a normal map to get the shadows right.

Yeah, that would be good. Is there a tutorial on doing that (LOD normalmap stairs) anywhere?

You can bake a normal map, just like a diffuse map.

Awesome building, these camins are epic *:thumb:! Mh there seems definetly something off with the LOD texture resolution, I doupt its due to compression though, this looks more like 64x32.

Edit: Nevermind. Ingame, the LoD looks just like the Render for me.

Its an asseteditor shot, because I have no other 4x4 installed right now. There are good chances that the Lod is even a bit sharper ingame. The weird thing about your screenshot, it seems like my building in the background has a normal resolution LOD *:???:

Released this small midwest commercial building: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=903255916

    Sketchfab: https://sketchfab.com/models/054e32f3529d43cab49dcb5d487aab90

Had to do quite a bit of texture enhancements to make them come out look right, but I think textures look superb on this one. *:thumb: Also quite a bit of other buildings in that area which are quite pretty: https://www.google.nl/maps/@41.9674657,-87.6588262,3a,22y,48.67h,89.76t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDR-282XwCRzyR9Sc3eepqQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1
Got a week off so next up is the Flemish Smith Warehouse:

Very nice building Darf, thank you very much! The Uptown area of Chicago has some very nice buildings in it. I really do regret not visiting the area when I was in Chicago. Another neighbourhood in the city which boasts some nice buildings is Wicker Park. I would definitely recommend you to take a look out there on Google Maps! Oh well, actually I shouldn't be saying this at all as your to-do list is way too long so I don't think you'll need any new inspiration for a while ;)

Fantastic job, as always. Your assets add so much in terms of realism and character to my cities, greatly appreciated
