I'm in, of course, is there is a Simpeg Haunt on CB. :thumb:

Is Krio's groupe a simpeg group or just Krio's ?

That's Krio's Group, I just made a start on a SimPeg Group, I'll have to come back to it later as I need to go to work, its been called (or at least for the time being) the SimPeg Bomb Shelter ... happy to change that if people prefer something else  :)

@‌Catty-cb: Bomb Shelter sounds good, count me in for the new forum please.

Anyhoo, off for a trawl thru the plugin bin, see if I can find some of Peg's little files from the forum pages...

You don't need an account on site to view it or Krio's group as they are both open, well except for their file exchanges only registered users can see the files in those ... same thing for people's briefcases on the CBEX.

Those people that only had CJ's over at SimPeg can setup their own groups or picture albums (in your profile settings or as part of a group) if they want to, but equally I'm happy to visit you over here or SC4 Devotion, CB is there if you want to use it, and I have the robots.txt setup to allow the WayBack Archive access to the site, so will be going thru the site at some point and making sure there are current backups of the various pages.

(1) how can we help reconstitute the PLEX ? (as I said, I have a lot of it stashed away)

(2) I only know how to put up a CJ on SimPeg, never tried on SC4D, not sure how I would do it. Is the process similar ? I suppose there is a how-to somewhere ?

1. The SimPeg staff have been busy and 184 files from the PLEX are now available on their own section of the STEX here

https://community.simtropolis.com/files/category/32-plex/

2. Good question as no one has tried setting one up since we moved over to the new site software, I'm guessing the easier way of doing it would be to set up a picture album like this one which is in the Banished group or your own albums which you can set up from your profile

https://community.simtropolis.com/clubs/26-city-builders-website/albums/item/205-your-favourite-mapseed/group/22-banished

upload your pictures, then edit each picture with a description ... people can add their own comments to each picture and/or like them individually, they can also comment on the album itself and again like the album ...when I get home tonight I'll tweak the site to make the picture albums more visible ... maybe have them appear on the left-hand side of the home page as we have a lot of blank space after "Online Friends".

All of Pegasus' files are already here and have always been.   What is new is a dedicated PLEX section on the STEX for the files.

What we are currently doing is editing the files to remove simpeg links, adding tags and moving the files to the new PLEX (on the STEX) section.    Once this is finished, finding any particular Pegasus file will become a lot easier.

Once all of Pegasus' files have been moved to the PLEX, we will then look at what third party files need to move over as well.   For example I am planning on moving all my MTP and SPAM lots to the PLEX once we are finished with Pegasus' files.

Once all of that is done...  then we can work out what we are missing and that is where the community will come in, and yes we will be greatful of any squirrelled files at that point.

Another task, will be to replace the .exe installers on the older 2006 and earlier files with simple zips.   As we know some people and anti virus programs are rightly nervous of .exe files.   Of course the files on the STEX with .exe files are fine...  they just make life a bit difficult, esp for Mac users.

Well I never really got myself involved over at SimPeg, but it's sad to see the site go. People in this community always talked about it, and I always wanted to join, and I guess I'll never know why I kept putting it off.

It's good to see that the files from their PLEX will be on here now, though.

Wow, this is really sad, I only became active in these forums until recently, and just as I was about to set an account on SimPeg the site started having problems. I never really browsed anything other than the tutorials, which were incredibly useful, like Paeng's Parks 205 guide or the CDK and PegPond tutorials, or a guide I bookmarked for replacing the default sidewalk with custom sidewalk textures wich also provided help to navigate the japanese NAM Facelift Mod. And the CJ's, oh man, I didn't even got around to admiring those. :( I'll also miss the Pegcam live feed at the homepage.

Good thing the PLEX contents can be saved, and I hope you guys can salvage some of the knowledge lost with the site, but overall, I wish you can make yourself a new home over here. :)

Thanks for all the amazing stuff you guys have given us!

(Hey Craig, I was wondering where you were ! Of course, you were being busy here... thank you !) So I'll keep my squirelly stuff stashed away, ready to help if I can. (as for .exe, as I am now a proud bi-user I laugh disdainfully : hon-hon-hon-hon-hon)

OK, guys, I put up a tentative CJ entry in the CJ section here (the process is in fact way simpler ...) P. R. Crastina is back and Tariel is now officially Tariely -- although the avatar is temporary (I lost my true one, must find it again....)

That's one of mine, I managed to get a copy off the website before it went down, once I've had a chance to make some necessary edits, I'll be uploading it to the omnibus.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Craig, I think if you are going to change *.exe files to *.zip, you'll have to be sure to give the target directory for the files in a readme text.  While Pegasus liked to set up the directory PEGPROD, all I've ever done with it is to move the stuff out to my Pegasus Productions structure and kill the directory.

I'll leave the SimPeg Group over at CB in the meantime and see if anyone needs to use it, otherwise I'll drop it at the end of the month  :thumb:

As I just said to Tariel in a PM I didn't want to keep the SimPeg Group at CB if it didn't get used as it would have been too much like an abandoned cemetery for my liking and I'm just starting to get used to the idea of SimPeg being gone for good, seeing the group sitting empty would just have been   :(  every time I saw it.

Very sad to see the demise of Simpeg. So much simpeg content was used in my CJs over the years. A great loss.

The PLEX (on the STEX) has now been rebuilt, just a bit of polishing here and there to do... but all Peg's files are now there...   well 99%...  we are aware of a couple of missing files, but we will get those uploaded as soon as we can.

We are also in the process of swapping out the old .exe files for zips, but the .exe's are perfectly fine to use in the meantime.

Wonderful about "Peg's files. What about all the other custom content that was made for the PLEX and never found its way to the STEX (if there is any) ?

This is the list of what was on the PLEX when the site went down

https://community.simtropolis.com/clubs/26-city-builders-website/cb-documents/11-catalog-by-website/11-simpeg-exchange

So I'm assuming at some point the guys are going to work out what they can do re PLEX to STEX

I'm quite late to say this but this did struck the little child inside me.:( Believe it or not, well for starters I wasn't an "active" member at Simtropolis (nor at any other forum for that matter) but that news was painful to take in for us as Simcity enthusiasts .

I still remember back in the day, about 5+ years ago when I asked a popular Simcity 4 Youtuber, Jamie or James (can't recall his name correctly anymore) where he got his mods from and his reply led me to Simpeg. I definitely wasted so much time having fun reading the posts and tutorials while especially download mods from the PLEX. Sadly I didn't view most of the CJ out there but I vaguely remember a few who inspired me to switch to a realistic route of designing in Simcity.

(Excuse me for my language) Damn't the nostalgia struck me again!

I really want to thank all of you for all the fun we had on the site. And please don't let this mishap demotivate you from modding. This door may did close but others shall open full with new opportunities to try out with the Pegasus team.

I had not visited Simpeg for at least 6 to 12 months and was so sad when I got an email from City Builders telling me that SimPeg is gone.

SimPeg is the first EVER site that I registered as a member in February 2004.  I was never comfortable with the internet before joining SimPeg.  I did not know how to use a forum;  I did not know how to download anything.  Slowly and patiently Pegasus, then other members of SimPeg helped me to learn.

Peg would help when I got a virus.  He taught me about using mbam and how to organize my plugins folder.

And the laughs.  I would log in there every morning while I drank coffee.  Yep my real life friends are from SimPeg.
