For the past few days I've been trying to access simpeg.com home page - system will time-out. Have they disolved? New URL? Any clues?

That's odd, it's up for me, a little sluggish but I got it! I have the download section bookmarked and it loaded right away, but the homepage took a bit longer.

They are having issues with the homepage.  Here is the link for the PLEX  http://www.simpeg.com/forum/?action=downloads

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Worked for me right now, though your mileage may vary...

The home page hasn't been working for a while

http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?topic=10271.msg234026#msg234026

Not sure what would happen if you wanted to set up an account, and I haven't been game enough to log-out and then try logging back in again, but as long as you avoid the home page the site is working fine ... no other problems as far as anyone can tell.

I hope it doesn't mean it's going to be over. We can't lose more SC4 websites and forums :(

Unless something happens to me, my site isn't going anywhere anytime soon as I pay my hosting fees three years in advance  :)

The home page times out.  The link to the PLEX works.  Thanks.

Don't know may be web routing my PEG homepage link loads in less than a second and logs me in. That's from the east coast of US.

Note; I was getting that same log in not found web page with the alligator in the first post about a month ago during some bad weather in the N.Atlantic regions, That's where my ISP's main center is located so could be a routing issue through your ISP. I'm not a tech so don't really know just guessing.

Hi everyone,

Simpeg is still alive.  We've been experiencing what seems to be a routing problem with our host that we have been beating our face against trying (unsuccessfully so far) to resolve.  While hostgator fails to properly route our homepage traffic, links to all other pages still usually work.  For example

Forum:   http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=forum

Plex:   http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads

Simposium:   http://www.simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=articles

Cheers.

I'm trying to get to that site and its not working for me, the plex link including.

Maybe someone can help me anyway. I am looking for the MTG Res growable. Here on simtropolis they only seem to be in .exe, so I can't use them on my mac. Is there anywhere else I can find them in a zip?

Seems that Simpeg has lost whoever was maintaining the site.

Not to my knowledge, see Blunders comment above. I think it's a technical issue that's out of the hands of anyone except the hosting company. Whoever maintains it probably isn't in a position to do anything about it so we just have to wait for them to figure it out. I don't see Simpeg going anywhere soon in any case.

It's still down for me =(

The main problem was you couldn't access the home page, but the rest of the site you could as long as you had links to it, but currently all the site is down and at the moment the link to the forum is coming up with the following error message

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '$maintenance' (T_VARIABLE) in /home1/jphayden/public_html/forum/Settings.php on line 39

here's hoping its a sign that someone is trying to fix the home page problem rather than something more serious is taking place

I hope so as well. I can't access plex too. This is quite frustrating.

No one's touched the code. Most likely case is that Hostgator updated server software or something on their end that now screws with client settings or reads them differently (yet again).  The nature of this current parse error is such that only Pegasus can fix it.  Or migrate to a new web host, because seriously, **** Hostgator.  No end to problems with those clowns.

We're currently trying to contact Pegasus about this new problem, but since his sc4 retirement that is a process that is never instantaneous.  I would expect it will take at least several days to resolve this.

SimPeg is now officially dead   :(  this from their home page

Well, we've had a good run and it was fun. But all good things must come to an end. Our site, SimPeg.com, having been in operation for around 15 years, has run its course and is shutting down,

We hope you have enjoyed it and also hope it has helped you in some fashion to further your enjoyment of the game SC4 Sim City.   We're sorry to see us go !!

I hope someone has a full backup of the site's files, or a whole slew of things are gone forever.

That's not going to help without permission to distribute, hopefully something can be arranged to keep the content available into the future, otherwise that would make this day even sadder than it already is. Not to mention some really epic CJs that are going offline with it.

I will miss SimPeg and all the wonderful people who made it such a friendly place.

Well, that's a shame.  Hope the developers over there can find another site to participate in.

What will have to happen, if someone does have a full-site backup, is to ask Pegasus and as many content creators as can be contacted if their stuff can be distributed. The rest will either not be distributed, or a "ask forgiveness later" policy will be used.

There is, of course, the argument that if someone allowed their stuff on SimPeg they would not, logically, be opposed to it being hosted somewhere else on a site backing up the original.

In my opinion, the least logical course of action is to allow hundreds of pieces of content, many of which are intertwined with content from other sites, to go poof.

The first thing that should be done, though, is to make sure SimPeg is actually dead. Not hijacked or otherwise the victim of a prank. I have no idea who Joomia is or their position within the SimPeg hierarchy.

Well, Joomla has nothing to do with the SimPeg hierarchy... I was never a regular at SimPeg, but the closure of this site will leave a huge gap on the SC4 world. A lot of extremely high quality content was based only there, only a few packs are available in the STEX. Now, all this is lost, and I'm afraid Pegasus is not available for contact here at ST for a re-upload permission.

EDIT: Last online, July 2013 :(

Most of SimPeg's files are already on Simtropolis and I've already asked about those files that aren't already here, and given I've been doing a catalog of all the site exchanges for the last few years I know exactly what was on the site and think I pretty much have copies of all of them  :)
