Oh wow.

If you continue like this I feel tempted to work on a southern state wetland "city"... Lots of half-rotten wooden houses and baptist churches.

Just one thing came across my mind: How to get rid of certain vanilla trees? I started to seriously dislike some assets because they include the atomic bush of slimy green and other horrible flora give aways from CO....

lol funny, but not true of any one region, truthfully there are just as many $%&^!holes in every region. :D

Here, zoom into a REAL southern city on Google Earth, a classic gem replete with beautiful Cypress trees, fab architecture, even some wonderful James Gamble Rogers creations, and many other beauties, this is Winter Park, basically a subcity of Orlando FL my hometown.

Just when I thought that the workshop didn't offer too much recently...

With a lot of work, travels, family, beautiful spring weather I don't have much time for the game right now. But I'd love to get back into the woods soon!

This is my first attempt at a Monkeypod tree which turned into an Acacia tree. Maybe they're related

    Very nice trees!

BTW, I've always wondered how heavy your items are (in terms of tris and stuff) compared to the default trees, because I love yours but I'm worried they might be too much

just finished exams and have allowed myself to open the game for the first time in a month. Starting a new map I was so looking forward to doing a marshy/ mangrove deal, thought I could just get a wide brush and bomb a whole part of the map with grass then throw some trees around. As with all trees I find it just doesn't do the density I want. So now I see those last screen shots were done with it on the small brush. Not the end of the world, it still creates the total covered look better then all the other trees. I was hoping to just splash half the map with thick vegetation in 10 seconds. I guess that would destroy most computers. I keep upgrading my music studio computer even though it is powerful enough for the recording I do. CSL is the real reason. Bring on the few million plus trees (and grasses)!!

Also..writing this I'm on the first page of this post. Was it you that did the NYC bombed up trains and were talking about doing something where I could upload my graff as panels in this game?

Graffiti, trains and trees. You're my hero

Mad. Ive offered some of the other train makers $$ to make a Bombadier Twindexx. No ones taken it up. Still on the table.

on another note; since you do a lot of fauna. Do you know anything about why the brushes do such a crap job of covering an area? It's especially noticable with the grasses. Bigger trees at least give canopy cover.

I rarely use any brush besides the default size. Grass is the smallest type of plants and we look at our cities from way up high. For grasses, it's best to focus in on local areas at closer zooms. I do not recommend trying to cover too much area with grass at a time. Just place them where you really want to see it (in those special areas). But if you really want to cover a large area with grass, it takes a lot more time compared to trees. It's also a challenge to make grass to cover a large area without having a huge tri count. Tree assets have a central pivot point. Make the grassy area too large and the ends will float if the pivot point is high on a slope. Just some things to keep in mind.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!!

The Southern Live Oak is here! This second Live Oak tree was a challenge to make but very rewarding. It's a mature variant with mossy bark and Spanish moss hanging. It is known by many names. This one is great for decorating as well as making some interesting swamps you can get lost in while abusing your F12 key :) Enjoy!
