Those pine trees look awesome. In glad you were able to carve out your own little niche with these trees...I don't think anyone could do it better!

I agree these are very welcome additions to the game, so far I've been subbing every tree you've published. :P

    Thanks for those kind words!

Well, the Shady Tree is finally updated. Shroomblaze helped me with vertex normals. Tweaking those saved my trees from what they became with the After Dark expansion. So if you have this tree and bulldozed due to your eyes hurting....you can put them back :D

The 2 versions was made in the games early days...we didn't have Boformer's tree rotation mod and I wanted them to overhang on small roads and walkways. Too many player subscribed so I will continue to support both left and right trees.

    Enjoy

The new version looks very nice. I guess it's still one of the few (or the single) example of tree that has this specific form, which is why it has always been popular in park lots.

Which brings me to the only issue I have with the update: you probably changed the asset name, as the trees disappeared from all workshop assets that used them. It's better to indicate the update just in the workshop description and leave the file names alone.

That's strange...they have the same crp names. I literally copied and pasted from the original name in the assets panel when saving. But I too did notice they disappeared from the roads I placed them on too. Will look into it.

Yes, the file names are the same, but the asset names changed. For example, the old asset had the name "The Shady Tree Right", and the new asset replaced this with "Shady Tree Right". It's the same for the "left" trees.

    See the asset names:

Thanks for that.....those little details man!! I will correct it today. I was looking at the crp name and not the title. >.<

EDIT: I been trying to correct it but so far they are not showing up on my older roads where I placed them. I renamed and everything but might of missed something. I hope I can fix this....in the mean time, just replant them. This was my second asset so not sure what I did when I saved it back then. I will keep trying.

I am not sure where the difficulty lies. When I rename your new trees with the old asset name, it brings them back to the parks the old trees were originally used on, like these by core79:

    QlFb1t1.jpg

Looks much better than before :).

Of course, directly planted trees are a slightly different case. If you ever saved your game in a state where the trees were not loaded, they are gone for good. That's an easy way to permanently remove tens of thousands of trees of a specific type from your map at once.

To check this, the best way is to use a savegame you had not touched after your tree update.

Sorry for sounding stupid.....where did you rename the asset. Somehow, I managed to fix one of them. Not sure which one it is though. I went in game and to my surprise, one side of a road I used Network Skins on had it back.  Earlier, both sides was empty. I'm assuming it's the "right" version. Did you rename it from the editor level or what? I want to make sure I'm not going about this the hard way.

I have no older saved games with it to test. They went with my Hard drives in November. :( I doubt if anyone made forests with this anyway.

I opened your old tree in the asset editor, copied the name from the "save" menu, then opened your new tree in the asset editor, pasted the name and saved. That was probably more complicated than necessary, as you just have to add "The " in front of the asset name (the one below the big image), but I wanted to be sure not to make any typo.

Regarding savegames, the test you did should be as good as any. Maybe, you accidentally used twice "right" when you renamed the trees, or something like that.

The confusion came because the original crp file is "Shady Tree Right" "Shady Tree Left"...no "the" at the beginning. I was wondering if i left out "the" in one of the name fields. I tried making one of the title fields with the original title and the other with the original crp name. Do you know which one of the name fields saves the crp name? Or if that's even the case. I don't even know why we have 2 name fields in the save menu.

The field on the bottom left yields the crp file name, which is "Shady Tree Right" for both, old and new files. The field on the right, below the asset image, is the proper asset name, which was "The Shady Tree Right" for the old trees and "Shady Tree Right" for the new ones. The old "Left" trees had the same difference in names.

It says "asset name" (here's the fixed "left" tree):

Thank You!  Good news...all is fixed! Both versions should be ok and fully updated now. Whew!!

Add some color to your landscapes with the Shady Tree Red! It's great for rural neighborhood decoration, gardens and special places in your city.

Love it! The red color reminds me of Japanese cherry trees in the late summer, when they've lost most of their flowers. ^^

I almost didn't publish this Tram because so many similar designs was released. But mine have a tea and coffee maker in it with some good music and lighting 8)

It's a fictional tram with a cross between American and Canadian designs.

Well, I got on the game last night and started making my first real park on a shore of my downtown area when I began chatting with Boformer who was also making a park....one thing lead to another and this bush was produced.

Introducing The Shady Bush. Great for landscaping, parks and fillers. This is a set of 2 bushes. One default color and a lighter version.

    Very gorgeous.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Another perfect addition to the flora of CS - and will be added to the lush gardens of Red Rock... Thanks!
I just realized how I don't use any other trees than yours anymore - except for the conifer series by Djelle ( http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=418579675&searchtext=conifer ) - and this brings me to a modest wish of mine...  I sorely miss the Ponderosa Pine in Red Rock... (maybe in a lower poly count than the ones below... :P )

That's a great idea to add to my todo list. I will put these at the top of my list since I love what you been doing already. I will feel like a "contributor" to Red Rock. But first I have to finish a Siberian Pine. This tree actually look very similar so maybe I will make it right after.

Yeeehaaa! This makes my hillbilly heart jump. I'm going to find an army of volunteers in Red Rock to replace 81 tiles of Alpine Red Firs with the Ponderosa Pine all over :ooh:
