back to Swiss Re in London, it's supposedly a very energy efficient building - quite a good thing since buildings make up 50% of the world's pollution. Not too sure about the Torre Agbar

Baltimore Convention Center. It's so ugly because it's almost surrounded by rowhouses. Looks out of place.

The Convention centre doesn't look that bad... I like it. Now the millenium dome in london England is about as ugly as they come (and I Toght it was impossible to hate A building with a $1.2 billion price tag)

Hi, Super_monkey - This is a real ugly building - and I know about London Cucumber and Great Circle too ...

And I think - this is worst building in the World - KGB Office in Moscow (excellent architecture with terrible history):

Cumbernauld Shopping centre-

New St.Andrew's House-

Scottish Parliament (Probably the worst since it represents the whole frigging country), a prime example of why OVERDESIGNING is a really bad idea...  -

Just by the way the water runs done the side you can tell in 10-15 years time this building will look even more awful-

Enric Miralles was the Architect and he must be stopped! Go on... type his name into Google and you'll find some of the most hideous pieces of 'Architecture' ever conceived... (I don't think this is in Scotland btw)-

Oh come on, that is awesome! Just my tastes of course, but I love commercial architecture that looks industrial. I have to agree with you on the rest, though. Especially the scottish parliament building. I remember the first time I saw it, I actually laughed out loud. If this building won the contest, the other entries must have been pretty terrible. (The interior is pretty cool though).

architects forget that its the outside that the general public see that the FRONT door is at the FRONT and that it is next to other buildings

i suppose the whole of livingstone should be in there

Ok, that shopping centre is really ugly and looks like an industrial building. Not only that, is it even safe? That top section does not look well supported.

putting flowers on a dungheap doesn't help

but i think the sheer number of modern buildings in this thread prove my point that is modern architecture is ugly, disgusting and should be removed

well out of this entire thread there are two old entries the russian KGB because of what happened there and london tower bridge

modern architecture is about "statements" and "breaking moulds" and "emotion" and its these buildings that must be demolished and their architects ex communicated from designing buildings

some buildings built now look ok but you have to admit a LOT of modern architecture is disgusting as has been proven by this thread

I think that is “Torre Cube”, by Carme Pinos and is located in "Corporativo Puerta de Hierro", in Zapopan, Jalisco, México.

And I really like that building 4.gif you can see all Corporativo in this pic

Strangely enough, most of the buildings in this thread are from the period 1960 to 1970. Why do you think that is?

what about the cereal box on sticks? and the buildings that look like they are melting or trying to rip them selves apart

and by distgusting i mean you physically cringe to look at it its actually sore for my eyes and i lean backwards suddenly when i see some of these buildings

and by architects talking a load of bull about buildings "saying this" and "making you aware of" and that i mean this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp-kc8u_1mI

    do you see my point?

Not all modern buildings are bad. Many are actually quie good, San Diego CA, where I live, is quite a good example. The city centre is really nice and there is no hint of historical architecture anywhere, Except for a few stubborn victorian houses that failed to be torn down. Now some of the mostrosities that are going up other places.....like that walkie talkie tower in London.....its going to ruin the whole city. Its only bad when modern architecture completely does away with the old. And especially if it is in bad taste.

But I personally would rather see a Victorian terrace over a glass house any day

Yeah, it's in East Europe (East Germany to be specific). True, it may not be the worst by itself, but they can look pretty bad when you see them in entire neighborhoods.

I think the worst buildings are the ones that are supposed to look like the architect put some thought into them, but in the end they look plain awful (like the Boston city hall, page 12).

Wow... this has gotta be the winner. It looks like one of those buildings that someone randomly expanded on when he felt like it, making it look like something chewed it up and spit it out.

This is so surreal... some awesome buildings are up for the nomination of THE WORST BUILDING IN THE WORLD! We're talking superlatives here: pick a building, one building, you nominate for THE WORST, as in NOTHING WORSE, the ultimate bad, nothing uglier, nothing more hideous, in any situation and in any environment, no-hope, cannot be saved or redesign, just burn it down----- THAT BAD.....and I see some of the best here. *SOB*
