Montparnasse, hands down, without a doubt the stupidest thing ever built. It was a so-so idea to build a tower there in the first place, then it was made worse by the fact that it's just and enormous brown tower that looks so jarring on the skyline.

this pic (which I won't post cause it's huge) pretty much explains it:

Paris227.jpg

ugly.

The Montparnasse is mostly just a blah looking tower, but I find that it is the tower's location that make it such an eyesore! What a dumb spot for a tower like that!

I live in Nottingham, England, and although it may not be the worst building in the world, this building on Maid Marion Way couldn't be placed in a worse place. (The one to the upper left of the picture)

salutationnottingham2.jpg

The building behind the Salutation is part of a lot of buildings in this area of the city that ruin the area. For anyone who knows Nottingham, The People's College is terrible too, which they decided to build right beneath the Castle. It's surprisingly difficult to find pictures of these eyesores, people only seem to take pictures of the nice bits of the city.

I have to say, the building from that picture really dosen't fit into its surroundings. That building could have had potential else where but not there, definitely not there.

Edmontons full of ugly architecture, sadly enough. 45.gif

This.... thing.. is among the first things you see coming into to the city from the airport. It's quite possibly the ugliest building I've seen in Edmonton so far.

concrete. everything build out of these obnoxious, ugly, grey concrete blocks. I mean sure it's cheap and sturdy. But it is ugly. Especially after a couple of years. I mean wow. Ugly.

Example: basle_stadiumb21.jpg

Soccer Stadium in Basle/Switzerland

They ruined a perfectly fine stadium/mall with this fassade. WHY? WHY???? It's even more ugly if you get close.

Here's some ugly buildings in Ottawa:

The old city hall... now a Federal Government Building... just too much stuff going on, what a mess of various architectural styles...

300px-111_Sussex.JPG

And another Federal Government building... which happens to be next to the above building, across the Rideau River... Just brutalism at its worst.

canadian_comm_center_lbp_bldg.jpg

Brutal.

Wow.. that makes me sad. I feel for them. 15.gif

Edmontons downtown is only saved by the river valley. Without that... ugh... I don't even want to imagine it. 3.gif

As a fellow Canuck I'm always disturbed by architects here.

They always seem to go for the cheap and disposable.

The amount of historic buildings that seem to go under the buldozer to build  another disposible box is astounding.

The New concerthall in Bruges Belgium, Terracotta extravaganza and the inside looks as bad as the outside. Just type in concertgebouw brugge in google image search and see for yourself.

Funnily enough, probably every millenium building ever made.

Wales, Cardiff's millenium centre:

wales-millennium-centre.jpg

And of course, the ugly piece of crap in London, the millenium dome!

Ok, there has been some pretty horrible building here, so I'm not sure how "well" my suggestions rate, but personally these are the most horrid one's in Helsinki:

This is residental area of "Merihaka", it's located right next to Helsinki center (about 2 km from the center.) It's not bad or poor neighbourhood, but just plain ugly. Prime example of the 70's architecture.

Here's another nice view from Merihaka:

I might have posted this before, I don't remember...

Anyway, this is the so-called Hercules-Hochhaus in Cologne (Köln), Germany.

koln20we7.th.jpg

Architects + LSD = Bad idea. 33.gif

Not only is it fugly, but it's also located at a really inappropriate spot, and to top it off, those obnoxious coloured tiles keep breaking and falling down... the building has won the Golden Lemon for Bad Architecture at least once.
