  1. Bad Form, I'd say..

I did not know that having three nationalities was against the BSC rules as interpreted by BarbyW? I happen to be born German, of American (Berber) and Italian parent, and - being anglophile - acquired a UK citizenship to boot. Oh, and lest I forget, I also have a premanent Permis Du Sejour from Bordeaux due to my granny being from there, which probably makes me a bit French as well.. You are however right, I am ignoring all BSC lots that bear certain signatures.. Originally posted by: BarbyW ..You seem to have acquired another nationality as elsewhere you claim to be English and American now you are German. As you seem to have so many probems with BSC downloads maybe you should post in the BSC Team Room or alternatively just ignore all BSC lots...quote>
  2. Bad Form, I'd say..

Funny that, the readme I received did not mention anything about it. Of course, it is entirely my problem, and as a German - not having any sense of humor whatsoever - it was funny for maybe half a second.. 3. It maybe someone's idea of a joke. And it would be a good one if it appeared once or twice. But the fact that the Bogus Alert stays on and now blocks actual stats of utility is not particularily funny. So how do I get rid of this:
  4. Switch to subway mode then drag a subway tunnel from an onramp to its opposite offramp - that gives you one lane; then do the reverse for the other lane. I just learned it myself. Originally posted by: USA Patriot I can't read pdf on how to use it, and I've looked all over. How do you connect this underground tunnel to the other underground tunnel opening? How do I make roads underground to connect.quote> PS: The error I reported earlier is resolved: the main tunnel entrance disappears when a mod (forgot the originator) that changes the depth of underground layers is used.
  5. Under Bridge Scenery

Thanx, Swamper77; I "knew" I was missing something, because I could get some of the red-brick recreational corner lots under, but they never looked right, and this is zooo much better..
  6. After a few more experiments I noticed my error. Meanwhile something altogether different has happend: the main H-Way to S-Way Tunnel entrance disappeard. The blank, blue placement rectangle is there, and all on/off ramps are normal, but the surface structure disappeared completely. I suspect it to have something to do with my installation of the new Hi-Speed ELR -haven't been back to the PC yet to test this, nut its the only BAT I installed since installing the Boston Dig.. BTW: Holland Tunnel works fine now, far better than hard to handle bridges.. Originally posted by: Andreas Roth @HandOff: I made a ground highway version of Goldiva's electronic toll bridge once, and it would be easy to create one for oneway roads as well - you only have to put the matching prop on a lot, add some road textures and transit enable it. Regarding your NYC Holland Tunnel: You have to use one ONramp as tunnel entry and one OFFramp as tunnel exit, otherwise there won't be any traffic, since all tunnel entrances that are only 1 tile wide are designed as oneway tunnels only (see my picture above, the two on the left are onramps, and the two on the right are offramps).quote>

Finally: success! Hah! Battlecat's additions to SimGobber's canals (and of course Swamper77's remote tutoring produced the first result! Now, all I got to find out is if there is a set of Pegasus' industrial wharf pieces which also has overhanging lots - any suggestions, anyone?? I took the liberty of downloading one of BB's images, and return portion of it: with questions. 1. How does one get the sunken highway walls (?) under the bridge?? 2. How is it the bridge appears to be built over the PEG lot? 3. Which of the industrial PEG lots can be used - is there a special set? A filename or link, perchance? BTW: did anyone ever come up with a custom bridge? One which could, for example, take two rail tracks (ergo, 4 spurs) at the same time? Originally posted by: buddybud no really handsoff...hover the lot next to the bridge and rotate it before you plop it... rotate it to the proper position. i think its the page up and page down buttons to rotate. ignore me...lol read below to see which keysquote>
  8. As always, I am only discovering everything late, still, here's a thought or two: First off, the idea is absolutely brilliant, but I already said that elsewhere. Next a suggestion vis-a-vis further development: Goldiva at the SFTB site (I believe) created the just as splendid Electronic Toolbooth; a far more elegant version of Maxis' original. Except I did not find a one-way or highway version. That said, wouldn't it make sense to incorporate Goldiva's "Mautstelle" with the exit and on ramps? After all, reforming city traffic to that extent is costly, and the city coffers could use the tolls (should be at least double the original). One thing I tried, but seem to fail, was to use on ramps only, on both sides of the water, as a kind of NYC Holland Tunnel. But even after several months the traffic query showed 0 usage. Only after I connected a highway tunnel entrance & higheway did some traffic show up. But Sims seemed to be reluctant to use it. Could NAM have anything to do with this?
  9. Under Bridge Scenery

What I still cannot figure out is how to place BuddyBud's ramp covers UNDER the bridge. Even turning them around a few times does not seem to do it????

As always, Swamper77 to the rescue. You ought to go and get a teaching job, highly paid, of course, at the SC University.. Thanx..(again) Originally posted by: Swamper77 @Adm Lee J.E. Braden: Buddybud's walls are already on STEX, except for his many concept models. @HandsOff: MasterPlanMan was the one who placed PEG's walls under the suspension bridges seen in this picture: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//underbridge3.jpg. The lots are placed to the left side of each bridge. The pieces that were used are the Inner and Outer Corner lots of PEG's RTK III with the high walls. In your case, you would place a set on each side of the bridge with the seawall props overhanging to underneath the bridge. The seawall props were rendered slightly below ground level, so the ground around the lots needs to be lower than the lots for you to see the props. -Swamper77 quote>
  11. Under Bridge Scenery

That's what I thought - yet somehow he did it with Pegasus' lots. Thus it must be repeatable. I tried his suggestion of turning the lots and got no results. And the PEG lots have no offset props as far as I could tell.. Originally posted by: Swamper77 HandsOff, Pegasus created those sets, not BuddyBud. PEG's lots unfortunately do not have any pieces for extending under bridges. Also, lots cannot be placed under bridges. With offset rendered props, people can fake the look of objects extending under bridges. -Swamper77 quote>
  12. Under Bridge Scenery

I've tried that, the result - see pic below - it always tells me the square is already occupied. Tried it with both the industrial and the recreational set. BTW: how far appart and how high doe ramps have to be before SC4 lets you use a bridge? Originally posted by: buddybud no really handsoff...hover the lot next to the bridge and rotate it before you plop it... rotate it to the proper position. i think its the page up and page down buttons to rotate. ignore me...lol read below to see which keysquote>

  14. Home Depot

All your lots (made by error or otherwise) are not only great and useful, but they show that at least someone around here has a sense of humor.. Keep up the good work (and don't forget the "bad" stuff, either)
  15. Under Bridge Scenery

Try as I might with the PKG Waterfront pices, I cannot get anything under a bridge - so, what's the secret (other than that I am plain stupid)??
