Boreal Bay. Unfortunately there are some problems with water flow. I spent about an hour fixing the map. I've also terraformed some of the bay in that image. :)

I had this same problem with the Hong Kong map I downloaded. It seems to me that a lot of created maps tend to have little to no flow around most of the feasible starting tiles. It would be nice for there to be a button on the map creator that allows you to control water flow instead of having to place a water spout and hoping for the best.

I am a sad panda. Thanks to a failed upgrade to Windows 10, and subsequent loss of most of my data, I no longer have this beauty of a city. However, the map itself was saved so I can edit it and rebuild it how I want :D

You know for all my hatred of Win10 as a concept, an OS upgrade is not something to be taken lightly. I'm guessing a clear warning would have clearly advised to make sure a backup of your data was done beforehand, just in case.

In any event, unless the failure wiped the hard drive, the data is still there, assuming you know how to access it. Harsh it may seem, but I can't help but thinking this isn't something you can blame on the process entirely.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

It didn't wipe the hard drive, but it corrupted the save file. Actually it corrupted most of the %localappdata% files. It's unfortunate but recreating Cascade Bay shouldn't be too much work. What ended up happening is the failed upgrade was a bad install, so I had to install windows 10 on a separate HDD. I've backed up most of the important things like my lunar project, but I have a long way to go before I'm back up and running at 100% :P

Either way it sucks, despite knowing what you should do, I've been there myself so I can't berate anyone too much.

Wow zdza! Looks amazing. Keeping your blocks larger in areas was a good choice makes it look much greener and more residential.

Got this city kicked off yesterday. I know a lot of people are against grids, but I think the different angles make it work really well.

Nothing's wrong with grids. Also, even if people don't like your grids, it's your game, not theirs.

Grids can be lazy but they can also be nicely executed and interesting (talking from a purely aesthetical point of view), I think your roadways look pretty nice. :)

Of course I don't care what others think. Compliments are nice, but being pleased with your work is better. Look at some of my posts in the SC4 section and you'll see what I mean. I like grids. :P

Thanks though.

Here is my current region:

Currently it has 22k residents. Most of the people live in the 2 towns on the right, which are connected by railway and a single-lane highway.

The villages on the left are only collected by a small road and a single railway track.

There are no serious congestions.

Now that's what I call a city. Unfortunately, I do not believe they will increase the limit. It's set like that due to limitations of peoples machines, not limitations of the game itself. If they increased the limit or eliminated the limit, the average Joe would be able to play until the game crashes, due to the machine being overloaded. Then CO would be known as the company that made a game that constantly crashed, even though its the crappy computer that crashed the game, not the game itself. And that's not good for business! :no:Most people don't have new computers capable of handling intense simulation like this, and I believe the average players are unable to reach the object limit to begin with, simply due to the constraints of their old desktop/laptops. It would be nice for CO to add an override function of some sort that let players with newer/more powerful computers increase the object limit, but I believe this sort of option would require intense petitioning, and would only be able to be enabled and used by people that knew what they were doing to prevent average Joe from being unable to play. @Azurespecter, would this sort of option ever be able to be added?

Hey all, this is Fairview, the city that I've been working on since I had to reinstall the game after the 1.0.7 patch.
It only has 60.000 inhabitants, partially because I bulldozed half of the city (the oldest part) a while ago because I didn't like the look of it, and partially because I tend to leave lots of open spaces between buildings which I fill up with pedestrian pathways, parks, parking lots and other decorative assets.

This is the port section, connected to the city with highways and tracks.
