hello. today i downloaded the may 2010 version of NAM. i had june 2009 before and i (thought i) uninstalled it.

when i load a city, every intersection with roads has disappeared. if i click with road there, the roads come back. also, when i create a road + intersection, it no longer creates turning lanes. did i do something wrong when i uninstalled/installed? somebody please help me.

i have windows vista 16 bit with 300gb hard drive, 2gb of ram, and a radeon pro hd 2400 graphics card

thanks

Stations aren't included in the NAM. You'll have to download them separately.

As Biriali mentions, there are no stations included in the NAM (since they're lots). You might check the posts here and here for links to various stations.

And going to move this to Modding - Transit Networks.

hi, i think the NAM may be the best thing to have ever happened to SC4, but the tram caused CTDs are causing me to stop using the tram network where it would really be useful, and look awesome!

i THINK i read someplace that the only reason it cant be fixed is because it would involve changing the actual SC4 files, which would go against copyright? is this correct, or am i imagining having read it?

if this is the case would it not be possible for those in the know to give details on how to edit whatever it is that makes the game work, so that people could do it themselves and the mod release would not go against copyright and whatever? this could be a stupid request, i have no idea how the game files work, or wether this would be alowed but i have always wandered if it could be done.

anyway, if it would work is there anyone who would know how and be willing to give instruction on how to do it? it would be fantastic XD

    thanks

There's no need to edit the game's core files. You can easily prevent the crashes if you just are aware, that you may never hover a puzzlepiece (i.e. a piece of the tram-network) over a TransitEnabled lot (i.e. a tram station). Doing this makes the game crash instantly.

Indeed, it is quite managable if you simply pay attention (for example don't carry pieces around on the pointer, only select when you have the spot ready). If you find you are particularly clumsy (and maybe not a bad idea anyways) I always make a habit to save right before I start a major area of revision, then I save again immediately after I get it properly completed). The real reason there is no fix is that noone knows how to fix it... so get a grip and learn to deal with it.. 2.gif The issue is not in the "config files" but in the .exe.

Can we have some clarification on how to use the neighbour connection pieces (for RHW-4)?

there are OUT pieces and IN pieces, but I can't get a connection piece that has the right arrows and in/out as well as have the yellow / white lines match.

EDIT:: also how exactly do we use the 'invisible loop' thing?

    if there's a tutorial somewhere I can't find it.

could somebody out there kindly point me to taht or explain?

    THanks

The way the arrows are pointed doesn't matter, at least not for me.

The IN/OUT business and the arrows are a holdover from an earlier configuration of the Neighbor Connector pieces.  They were simplified before release, but that bit didn't get changed.

You can completely ignore the IN/OUT and the arrows--as long as the white and yellow lines are on the correct side, you're good.  The arrows and IN/OUT stuff will be gone with the release of Version 4.0.5.

Hi all. I installed the NAM in 2010 May, and have a problem with a metro ride between cities. The map of traffic Sims go from one city, and the second city of the metro is not used at all. The tunnels are connected, the station is, the connection between the cities is, nevertheless, Sims disappear is not clear where. Also, the city connected by road and monorail, they are working correctly. What happened to the subway?

In the city where there is no subway traffic, have you run it long enough to catch up with the other city? Also, is it possible that there's a station right at the border where the Sims are leaving the subway?

It looks like there nothing to do with NAM. The problem in the old RTMT. I tried to put standart metro station, everything worked fine.It is strange that earlier RTMT it worked well. Crap, how much rework ..

Well done. Well done. Since installing the May 2010 NAM, I have had trouble placing Maxis ferries. The game crashes. Sometimes it works fine, but usually I get the crash. Anyone else have this problem? Any work arounds to suggest? I'm not complaining too much. I've done my share of coding in my day and have some appreciation for all the hard work that's gone into this project. Did I say, "Well done?" Well done and many thanks.

    thanks awfully.

EDIT : so we do need the invisible loop piece in between the two lanes iwth arrows pointing at the opposite lanes on a RHW-4.

    great. thanks so much.

my crash rate is about 50% with ferry placement. i haven't been able to discern any patterns.

btw, how does one find whether or not a bug has been reported?

So far (of those I've seen reporting), it seems there are two common cases. One is ferries that are placed with the lot arrow facing east will cause a crash. Ferries placed in other directions are OK. Second case is ferries placed with lot arrows facing south and east will cause a crash while lots facing south and west will be OK. This is not to say other placements won't cause crashes, but these seem to be two most common. You might try using ferries facing different directions to see if any will work for you.

Bugs dealing with newly released NAM items will usually start popping up in this thread. So just check recent pages.

Arrows were facing east: caused crash.

Terraformed to orient arrows facing south: also caused crash.

Terraformed to orient arrows facing north: OK.

In two other cases that I can recall, the arrows were facing west. In one situation, I placed but a few cells away and it was OK. In the second case, I can't seem to find an orientation that works.

Thanks for the work around, and thanks again for all your hard work.

G' day all. So far I'm loving the new NAM but it seems I'm missing something for the rail viaduct . On straight pieces it looks like the elevated subway. On curves it has the brick textures. I tried reinstalling the NAM but something is still missing. Any thoughts?

go to the 'my documents' 'SC4' 'plugins' folder and see if the NAM is there...if you didn't download it to the plugins folder it wont show up.
