I have a couple of problems which can hopefully be solved here. When I put in my first NAM, it was in the left hand drive version. When I installed version 29, I made sure it was right hand version. In my game though, it's still left hand version. Also when i try to place a road with a turning lane or any of the other options, it gives me a message saying intersection placement strings missing. The road is there but I can't see it. Also some of the rhw pieces aren't placing such as the curves. Thanks in advance.

If your game is LHD, then you have to install NAM with LHD. The NAM cannot change which side of the road your sims drive on. If you want your sims to drive on the right hand side, [follow this tutorial on the Omnibus].

The sims are driving on the right hand side but the turning lanes are placed for the left hand driving. Do you know anything about the other problem?

You have multiple controller files, I suspect that the left hand drive is loading after the newest right hand drive.

To fix this, first you need to determine the game's native driving side, by moving all plugins out and testing in an empty city. Draw a stretch of road, place a fire station at one end, and some residential zones at the other. Don't forget to provide power. Then, watch the automata. If the cars are on the right hand side of the road, you are in RHD, and vice versa. Then, you may exit the game, put all plugins back EXCEPT NAM, and install the NAM v29 in the proper driving hand side, and any other NAM projects you may have.

I don't know what to put here anymore.

Thank you for your replies. Is there a way the nam with the turning lanes will work?

Installing the turning lanes is an option when installing the NAM. Be sure it is checked it in the setup routine. If you install the correct drive-side for your game, vehicles should use the lanes when turing left.

I'm talking about the widening mod. I still get the message about the placement strings.

That's basically the NWM's version of the "red arrow bug".  Essentially, you've got outdated an outdated NAM Controller somewhere in your Plugins that's messing with your NWM installation.  Find it, then get rid of it and you should be fine.

Can you explain to me how to remove that controller? I removed a controller from my previous nam. It said it was the right and version controller. That didn't do anything as i still can't place the nwm things.

Hi all, have a problem to report. I've been messing around with TuLeps recently, and discovered that the right-turn slip-lane wasn't functioning properly for me:

Due to bad internet, I've not been able to research whether or not this has been discussed before, but I'd like to bring it to your attention just in case.

Wherever it is, it is most likely loading after your current NAM installation, meaning it'll either be located in a subfolder of your NAM folder, or a folder in your Plugins coming after your Network Addon Mod folder in alphabetical order.

If you've got any residual files around from previous versions, remove them--they'll cause a myriad of issues with your NAM installation.  If you've used the DatPacker tool, it's also possible you may have your old installation packed up and loading after your current one.

Given that the NWM was released concurrently with NAM Version 28 (May 2010), it's most likely the controller that is causing the problem is dated 2009 or earlier.  A search for "NetworkAddonMod_Controller_RIGHT_HAND_VERSION" in your Plugins folder can help.

Hi, I have just began using SimCity after a long time of not using it. I installed the newest NAM (V29). There is a very odd problem, which I have not seen ever before. Here is what happens: when I use the bulldozer tool, the smoke/debris that appears is represented by FLYING RAILROAD TRACKS!!! It worked fine before I installed the NAM. I am using SimCity 4 Deluxe on a MacBook. I don't know if this issue has turned up before, if so, I couldn't find it. Please fix it.

This is probably related to the amount of traffic on the site. Sometimes downloads are rather slow. You could try at another time or try downloading from the LEX (if you're a member).

Unless you have an old/obsolete version of the NAM, neither.  Both of those options were phased out in 2009 and are no longer supported.

For more details on the current set of NAM Traffic Simulator Plugins, see the NAM Traffic Simulator and Data View Support Thread.

P.S. Also, would someone be so kind as to move both my post and User_3D's to the NAM General Discussion thread, please?  Thanks in advance!

I have this kind of bizarre issue with the GLR. Whenever they pull into a ground level station, they suddenly take off into the air like they are pulling into a elevated GLR station.

Any way I can fix that?

krases: if you are using the gshmails GLR stations then the problem comes from faulty pathing by the creator. There is an update for them HERE that fixes the issue.

Hi. I am a bit concerned about my commercial area. After downloading the latest NAM, I now find it impossible to have high customers. Can someone tell me what should I do?

Guiding road traffic flow past your commercial buildings is the traditional way of generating more customers.  But if this isn't sufficient, you can always download the NAM Traffic Subsystem and use the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool to raise the value of Customers/Traffic Noise Coefficient.

I have a dumb question. Did NAM include a canal making mod? I want to change the style of my canals and figure out how to make corner pieces, but I can't even find the folder or figure out how to change the brick style.

Yes, NAM includes the CAN-AM that has two selectable styles in the setup options. The mod, however, only includes the transit pieces (those that carry traffic). To complete the canals, you'll need either SimGoober's or Cal's sets.

Hi there, could some tell me how should I add side texture to the Wide Radius Rail Curves? They looks very odd when the surrounded are fully build up. Is it possible to add some texture into the basic NAM install like Road Curves?

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes, I am a n o o b to this sim, Does it show much?quote>

I agree with this guy, you need FLUPs with the ground that they occupy not reserved. Otherwise, what's the point of FLUPs? The whole point of tunnels is so that you can go under buildings (and roads)...

You also need to make underwater FLUPs and highway FLUPs.

OK, I have been looking for an answer to this since I first downloaded the NWM several month ago:

Anytime I build or zone next to a NWM transition piece the texture breaks down. If I do anything that creates a sidewalk along the side of the transition piece the texture goes between being stripped to completely non-existent as I zoom in and out. I leaves me having to create random "forests" along the side of what should be major thoroughfares since trees are about the only thing that doesn't cause the problem. I'm sure this has been talked about before, but I haven't been able to find it.

I have uninstalled my old NWM and updated to the newest version and still get the same result.

Known issue, and it's related to your graphics card, actually.  It tends to affect nVidia cards a lot more than ATI cards, too.  If your graphics cards' Control Panel settings have the option to change the Z-fighting settings, you might be able to fix it that way--otherwise, the only way you can avoid that issue is not placing zones or Lots next to the affected transitions.

Did you download the installer version? If so, did you click to run the setup routine? If you did, then you should see a folder named "Network Addon Mod" in the Plugins folder. If all this is good, then you should find additional menu icons in the transportation menus (Roads, Rail, Misc.). Let us know...
