Star studded 2014 Asian Games has opened in Incheon, with acts of PSY (performed the final act "Gangnam Style"), EXO (performed "Growl") and JYJ singing the theme song "Only You" during the torch lighting portion and "Empty" right after it. Actress Lee Yeon Ae (Jewel in the Palace) along with 2 children lit the cauldron. (Avatar Fans Rejoice! The cauldron is made with the 4 elements in mind:earth, fire, air and water)

I haven't really caught up much about it but I read that one of North Korea's weight lifting competitors broke a world record, interesting.

 

In other new's ZE:A's leader Lee Ho (Junyoung) has posted tweets towards the group's management Star Empire. The tweet consisted of details  about abuses he and the group faced under the company (More details here). This has been the latest case following an interview with a male Ex-trainee who was raped & sexually abused"At a company XX" (Article found here)., along with extensive reports surfacing about Star Empire's CEO Shin Juha's treatment with 9Muses (here).
It's a shame that this has occured, best wishes with Junyoung, we're glad your fighting for what is Right!

[bREAKING] Appearantly reports have stated that Girls Generation member Jessica is leaving thw group after she posted vua weibo that she has been informed of the information. Although first speculations were thought that her weibo account was hacked, things have started to look grim after she did not appear at Shenzhen airport as the group was departuring for their fan meet. SM entertainment has released an official statement, however it has cause further confusion as the entertainment company did not confirm nor deny the details.

K-pop 2014... strikes again. 

Anyways, lately I've indulged myself into the Japanese releases of some K-Pop artists. And man... I think K-pop seriously goes way better with Japanese... >< the language just fits in so well with the music. A song I particularly like is 'Run' by Younha (Jap version), IMO it melds in so well with the Kpop music Genre. ANother Korean Artists I liked that has silently debuted this year in Korea under EMI & SM Ent. is J-min or Oh Ji-min. Her Full Japanese album reminds of YUI. ^^

Japanese pop is very good. I was listening to WaT yesterday. Sad to say it isn't available in Spotify yet so I had to play it in YouTube. It's kinda an old group btw.

And Super Junior's Sungmin has confirmed via a letter that he is getting married to actor Kim Sa Eun on the 13th of December! Despite Kim Sa Eun's agency that has previously denied the rumour. SM had tweeted support "Sungmin-ah~ Congratulations on your marriage! We hope your future will always be filled with happiness and blessings. Love you. ~SM Entertainment Family-"

Yea, more tragically, is the man involved in planning the 1st Pangyo Techno Valley Festival has committed suicide. "The 37-year old, whom was reported to be responsible with safety measure of the concert, Mr.Oh was believed to leaped of a 10-storey build. His body was found the next morning. A note was left saying "I am sorry for the dead victims. Please take good care of my children," More info can be found here.

Sigh... I'm glad they're strong enough to be discharged but they'll need as much time as they can to heal mentally. It'd be glad for them to unite together in the future and fulfil their dreams though

Earlier this year it was announced that Johnny's samurai musical "Takizawa Kabuki," featuring idol Takizawa Hideaki, would celebrate its 10th anniversary, it's 500th show, and the Shochiku theaters' 120th anniversary with a first-time overseas performance.  "Takizawa Kabuki 2015" will have its overseas debut at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theater in lucky Singapore on August 18 thru August 23, 2015.  The show is a musical mash-up of traditional kabuki, choreographed samurai swordplay, folk legends and history skits, dancing oshiroi onnagata, and J-pop boy banders.
 
As Singapore is an English-speaking country, Tackey promises that the live dialogue will this time be delivered in English, and that his troupe is practicing really hard.  I've heard their Engrish...I don't know if this will bring upon us a new level of kabuki sublimity or the next threshold of theater-cringing slapstick.  Regardless, I've been looking up roundtrip airfares from Texas to Singapore in August.
 
In the meantime, I did import a like-new DVD collector's edition of "Takizawa Enbujō," the 2006 predecessor of this show:
 






Tackey flies, Tackey dances, Tackey cosplays...and then Tackey massacres all the little teeny J-poppers onstage.  Apparently, to be gloriously slain at the end by Tackey's sword is some sort of Juniors' rite-of-passage!  I do miss the red blood squibs they used one year, but I guess that was just too messy when you have multiple shows to do daily.

Then he makes them all sing...he actually staged the Byakkotai, the Sat-Chō army, the Heike, the Genji, and even Benkei singing Kanjani8 and Tackey & Tsubasa pop-songs!  Singing in English this summer in Singapore, huh?...$900 roundtrip from Texas with a refueling stop and security check at Moscow...

Kabuki is indecipherable to me, but given its extremely unique delivery, I would LOVE to see Takizawa's English performance.  What an interesting concept that would be.
