My favorite K-Pop song right now is Gee, by Girls Generation. I learned the dance to the song at camp (By mistake, I joined the K-Pop Dance elective), and then there's always Gangnam Style, which made it big here in America last year :P

Oh no. I wish you good luck in getting Gee out of your head... GEE GEE GEE GEE BABY BABY~

I see you're also a Pokemon fan, are you excited for Pokemon ORAS?

Yes, I am indeed. I have its release marked down in 3 different calendars.

Gee is forever ingrained in my head... It's too catchy.

Due to (btw Atsuko refers to former AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda), "Heavy Rotation" and "Koisuru fortune cookie" is pretty much stuck to my head. Anyway, I did like songs from KARA, GG, 2NE1, AOA, T-Ara, and lots more that I could not remember at the moment.

The anime's first ending song, Ashita, Boku wa Kimi ni Ai ni Iku.is also by far one the most played Jpop song in my iTunes.

    Hehe, I too must admit...

    Right between ZàiZài and Aki-san!

Lots of K-fans here...I was thinking of watching the series "5th Republic," which looks like a tense political historical drama covering the assassination of authoritarian President Park Chung-hee, the military coup of General Chun Doo-hwan, the Gwangju pro-democracy massacre by the junta, and re-democratization before the Seoul Olympics.  How did South Koreans actually find the show?  Too controversial...too whitewashed...too boring...too old?

Amusingly, while watching space opera "Legend of Galactic Heroes," whose novels and anime coincidently came out just after the political turmoil in contemporary South Korea, I see the democratic "Free Planets Alliance" is also portrayed as another corrupt and unstable cronyist republic on the brink of a militarist coup and kleptocracy.  It must have been something in the air during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Hi - got to love Simtropolis - so many of us share similar interests:

I actually like Ketsumeishi, Home Made Kazoku, Ray, Yanagi Nagi and Flower (E-Girls I guess) among others, from JPOP but my KPOP mp3s is actually extensive (Turkish is even larger)

I just recently started listening to KPOP - first song I heard was Perfume by K-Will and that is all it took for me to look in the genre.  Been enjoying it recently- thanks to Youtube. I am a sucker for ballads too... :)

But honestly, I'm a lover of Turkish music because its pronunciation is easy for me and I can learn them faster but I really do love both KPOP (looking forward to Super Junior's comeback this Friday LOL) and JPOP.

I am intrigued so much by foreign music that I cannot tell you what is the current top hit in English or Spanish, the 2 languages I speak. (I also like German music)

I'm surprised you got hooked into K-Pop from a less popular group, in fact you got hooked from a soloist which seems to be increasing lately! Definitely looking forward to SuJu's comeback. Question is, will they be in a box set again?

BTW, Korean is definitely hard to pronounce in some cases especially when they rap but I still sing along XD (probably not making any sense to a Korean!) I hope to self teach myself Korean though through a popular Youtube channel called TalkToMeInKorean (TTMIK).

For anyone who wants to learn some "educational" videos about anything related to Korea I highly recommend checking out EatYourKimchi (EYK). :)

Korean is difficult for me...I will definitely use your suggestions and look into them.  Thanks __A

It is actually easier for me to hear the words in Japanese, to distinguish the pronunciations - but I am far from knowing what is being said, worse the subtleties of the expressions.

I find korean to naturally flow through me, lol even though I may not know any, I can sound like I do know korean Hahaha, my pronounciation is probably wrong and I tend to have noo idea what I'm saying. I pronbably hope to learn korean some day as well, but at the moment I'm focusing on mandarin chinese at school. Funny though, Apparently I actually looked Korean when I was young :P

Yay! Another "Nasty"!! Yeah they don't really focus on the language, they have a segment for discussing some Korean slangs but you need to know Hangul beforehand which is where TalkToMeInKorean is helpful for. I don't have much free time but I may learn some over the holidays.

    -----------

For any Aussie Asian Pop fan, Eric Nam (Korean-American Kpop soloist) is coming to Melbourne this Saturday for the "K-Wave Festival" which happened last year as well and EYK was the special guest last year. I probably won't be going though since Federation Square was too crowded last year and the queues for food stalls were so long...

There will also be an Asian Pop festival called "Music Wave" in Sydney's Bondi Beach featuring artists like Jay Park, Kimberly Chen and Far East Movement, but this will be more like a concert and entry is not free.

I come here to tell you very sad news, EunB of K-pop girl group "Ladies' Code" has unfortunately passed away at the age of 21 (22 in Korean years) in a car accident whilst on the way to Incheon from Daegu. Rise and Sojung had critical injuries but have already had surgery for 9 hours and 11 hours respectively, they are now being brought to Korea University Hospital for further treatment. The remaining 2 members, Ashley and Zuni fortunately only had minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle was the manager who fortunately did not pass away but current status is unknown.

Statement from Polaris Entertainment (label company of Ladies' Code):

    This is Polaris Entertainment.

We would like to explain everything regarding Ladies’ Code up until now. They were returning to Seoul after their schedule at Daegu, then around 1:30 a.m around Suwon, their back tire of the van fell out. This caused the unfortunate death of our member, EunB.

Currently, our other member Sojung and Kwon Rise are receiving treatment. The manager and other members received no injuries. The members are on standby to move to a hospital in Seoul.

The location for EunB’s funeral has not yet been decided.

With an apologetic feeling towards everyone, including the fans who have received such a great shock [today], we hope that many of you will pray towards the members’ fast recovery. We will report back further details regarding the accident as soon as possible. Thank you.

Note: EunB was not wearing a seatbelt but it is not against the law in Korea. It was also Sojung's Birthday today.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family of EunB, it is such a tragic thing to happen especially at such a young age. I hope the families of those affected by the accident will stay strong during this time..

EunB's funeral took place this morning in Seoul, Ashley and Zuny also attended but Sojung and Rise are still not stable enough to attend (especially Rise who is still unconscious). Watching the video even made me tear up a bit, it's so sad... It's a shame that Sojung and Rise couldn't see their member/friend/family for one last time. :(

We now need to really pray and hope that Rise pulls through this tough moment, losing yet another person would be too much  :noway:

On a happier note, EunB's last wish was for Ladies' Code to be #1 on a music chart and netizens have made that possible. Ladies' Code's "I'm Fine Thank You" is #1 on 9 music charts in Korea.

Yes, very sad. So heartbreaking. Cheusok is also coming up. I heard that EunB's last wish was also to spend time with her family during the Cheusok holidays which she said in the interviews. Very sad.

I also read that Sojung is now in a less critical condition and is slowly recovering, while Rise is still unconscious. But what's saddest is that neither the two members have yet any knowledge of what happened to EunB.

I don't know where to begin, the pain that the family is going through, even more pain for the other members it's just such a tragedy... If I hadn't been in public when I found out about the news I would've probably tearbended... RiSe was the only member I knew before the accident occurred :( Ladies' Code, dreams disappeared just because of this accident which could/could not have been avoided. I really hope that Ashley, Zuny and Sojung will stay strong.

    Agreed. Worst year for Kpop.

The funeral for Rise has taken place today in Japan (RiSe is actually Japanese not Korean). Members Sojung,Ashley & Zuny were present at the funeral grieving. A statement from Polaris entertainment also said that the remaining members will be discharged soon and will spend time to recovery and rest.

Ohh~ so many new releases & teasers at the moment. Can't wait!
In recent (actually I'm a bit late) news, BigBang's Seungri was recently involved in a car accident as well. Luckily no one was seriously injured.
A footage has been released of the accident along with an article of the details and Seungri's can be found here. Apparently he was somewhat speeding and dried to change double lanes at such a speed. Mmm very dangerous.I thought many would have been more aware of driving safely after what happend top ladies code.
