Enjoying all your toolbars and spyware?   :P

I use Chrome of course.  It does have its weak points, especially when it comes to downloading (you can't 'open' by automatically saving it to a temp folder).  There's the occasional obscure bug, but overall it's the fastest and sleekest browser I've found.  I also use so many Google products that it's nice to have a browser that syncs with all of them.

Chrome, just because it's fast. I don't like internet explorer because of all the stupid toolbars.

Firefox, of course.  I tried Chrome and didn't care for it.  Once you get into the patterns in a browser it becomes almost religious ritual.

Firefox και ξερό ψωμί! It's fast, flexible, safe and reliable :thumb:

I use safari. Having all apple products and an iCloud account means that safari syncs my passwords, bookmarks and reading lists with all my devices. With iCloud tabs I can also instantly access any webpage thats open on one device from another.

I use Firefox, it is stable in Linux. I only use Chrome for dirty purposes, but even Firefox is gaining terrain on it.

Most of the time, Chrome. I use Firefox occasionally, but Chrome takes over Firefox for its flexibility and speed. Firefox is good, but just a few Kb/s off Chrome. But it could be just my internet that gave me that illusion. :P

I've been using Firefox since 2006. The fact that it is essentially infinitely customizable is downright awesome and I've found some add-ons for it which can be pretty damn useful.

Chrome has always kind of skeeved me since I know Google has data mining capabilities that rival the NSA and I prefer to minimize my exposure to that (tip: install NoScript in firefox and never allow google-analytics.com). It has improved over its original launch in that it now supports some extensions, but it still does not match Firefox in that department. Also, tabs at the top of the screen instead of below the toolbars is just dumb.

Opera just kind of... is. I have it on my computer as a backup browser on the odd occasion that Firefox decides it doesn't like the way a particular page tastes today. I accept it as an alternative but would never make it primary.

Safari is banned from my computer on account of being an Apple product.

And IE.... well, nothing really needs to be said. No use beating the dead horse. I am sadly forced to use it for most things at work, however, since my company in their infinite wisdom designed their proxy network and all of their online services around IE and things tend not to work properly in other browsers.

It's Firefox all the way for me.  IE seems just too slow and won't even load some sites that I try to visit.  I only use IE sparingly when Firefox just won't load something, but those occasions are becoming few and far between thanks to Firefox always being updated to be cutting-edge.

I got so sick and tired of Firefox refusing to open websites [like this one for instance] almost on a daily basis, I switched to something better and haven't had that problem since.  Firefox isn't as great as those who use it claim it is.  It's no better than IE nowadays.

I used IE to start off with. But really felt like it was getting slower and slower. So I tried Firefox one day and loved it. Then that started getting slower and slower. Then I started running into video player problems, among other things, with Firefox. So I tried out Chrome. It worked flawlessly but I didn't like it at first because it didn't save bookmarked pages like the other browsers. Then I figured out that I could have little icons for each website right under the URL field. Which turned out to work even easier than the bookmarks on other browsers I've used. So now I use Chrome. And it's still fast.

I don't know what options people choose in Firefox, but I suggest that they have got them wrong or are not keeping updated.  I've been using Firefox for many years and have never had an open site refusal.  It's a poor workman who blames his tools.

As for Chrome, it's a Johnny-come-lately and not to my taste.

I use Chrome at home and Firefox at work (as I don't have Admin privileges and can't install stuff). The differences are drammatic between both. And I don't even want to think about IE... It annoys me even when I click on it by accident and it begins showing stuff about making it the predetermined browser and take the tour to see the new blah blah blah, GET OUT!

I started off using IE until problems started to arise. Now it just feels slow and clumsy compared to the alternatives. Since about 2008 I've been a regular Firefox user, and have never experienced any major problems. It's highly customisable, and has a range of add-ons which can improve the browsing experience. My top 3 would be Adblock, NoScript and Ghostery. Have never really got into Chrome, and only use it occasionally as a second choice.

What's quite irritating is how many companies / colleges still use Internet Explorer.

I suppose it's more down to security than anything -- such as the ability to enforce restrictions using Group Policy.

One of the lab exercises I used to have students do was to make their own browser.  It was a canned textbook exercise showing the Microsoft browser control.  Too bad this is also the base of IE, because the basic control doesn't have all that other garbage.  Kind of a do it yourself thing part of Visual Studio C++ Libraries.

Since I do not use any anti-virus program on my Internet computer (taking too much memory anyways) I am with Mozilla Firefox. I used to use IE, but since it is only half as good to filter spyware and viruses as others, I use Firefox only for more that 2 years now. The last time I used IE, it screwed up my whole computer, everytime I opened the darn program and the only way to get out of this nightmare was to re-boot.

Google is so much saturated with spyware and other freaking bugs and viruses and whatever exists, that I only tried it for a week, and I have seen enough, they make their money with spy and consumerware anyways...........and besides it is using way more memory than Firefox, approx the same as IE.

Fred, I hope you are using SpamAssassin or other anti-spam software on your mail client.  There are some real doozies about if you run windows without a virus checker.

I've been running CLAM-AV and FTW on my Linux box, but I think this is gilding the lily.  Linux seems to be malware proof.

My first browser is (unfortunately :P) Internet Explorer. Ah well, I was young back then, and didn't know anything about browsers. ;)
