I'm drinking Marsala, an Italian wine that's a bit similar to port wine.

Well, I prefer to find Marsala in Zabaglione rather than drinking it.  Far too sweet unless it is chilled as an aperitif.

Thinking about dinner.  Tomorrow is grocery shopping day so things are getting a little thin on the ground.  I think I'll have some bacon done up with some form of pasta.  Maybe I'll get busy and do a Carbonara.  When at loose ends, bacon is always a salvation.  On the other hand, I have a head of romaine, so could just whomp up a Caesar Salad.  I am not sure whether I have any anchovies, so that may be out.

 

Maybe I'll just wimp and have a box of KD (PC not Kraft) equivalent with a green salad with blue cheese dressing.  This can be ready in about 15 minutes.

Portuguese sweet bread with butter, lingonberry jam, and milk.  I'm sure lingonberry is common all across northern Europe, but I have to go out of my way to find it at grocers in south central Texas.

Brakspear's of Oxon 'Triple III' a bottle conditioned ale, which despite winning the World Beer Award for best strong dark ale is not approved by CAMRA. However I daresay anyone would agree bottle conditioned is as real as ale is likely to get in this day and age.

Of course what CAMRA forget is before the early modern period ale did not contain so much jumpiness and so really no modern ale is properly old school as all contain hops these days

But a good beer, one of my favourites. ABV of six.seven per cent, the bottle if just under a pintsworth is three.five units which is roughly the daily reccomended UK do nit exceed amount, though I usually drink nearer twice their silly modern elf n safety reccomendation.

Some bread meat and cheese. All made in Britain.

But this beer is like one of three bottle conditioned ales at the Walmart I work at. The local craft breweries produce modern ales and the closest CAMRA approved ale sold at the Walmart is from Kent, a good two days away by horse or three on foot!

Even 1698, their bc ale, seems mass produced and commercial... Real? Strikes me nothing is properly made any more. May as well have a gosh darn Strongbow...

The power went off here at about 11:20 p.m. and wasn't on until about 5:30 this morning when I got out of the sack.  I've had my morning muffin and milk and am now working on a mug of water.
