just curious, how long does it take to get a email from them regrading if you were accepted otr not? I know a time frame can't be given, but what would you say? I only ask because so far I still haven't gotten one

That will all depend on when they have the beta ready, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week, it could be next month.

It hasn't even been 12 hours since they announced the Beta, I don't think they would be accepting people now.

Sit tight, if you get in they will let you know at some stage.

Hi everyone! As you all know, we recently announced a closed Beta for SimCity! Got some questions about it? Well, we got some answers.

Q: How do I enter the Beta?

A: Easy! Just sign-up for the Beta at www.simcity.com/beta. Space is extremely limited and entrants will be chosen on a random basis.

Q: When will the Beta program begin/how long will it last?

A: We’ll be revealing more information about this soon, so hold tight. In the meantime, keep checking backwww.simcity.com/beta for the latest info.

Q: Where do I find my DxDiag file on my computer?

A: Simple! Just follow these steps: Click Start -> run -> enter dxdiag -> let it launch and wait for the small progress bar to finish. -> click save information at the bottom -> save the txt file and then click "Browse" on the Beta page to find the file you just saved.

FYI: This file is used to check your system specifications, so make sure to use the file on your preferred gaming system.

Q: Will there be a Beta for the Mac version?

A: No, the Beta is for PC only.

Q: Is this a Marketing beta?

A: Definitely not. All the feedback we gather from the Beta will actually play a big role in determining how the team tunes and polishes the game. The Maxis studio takes player feedback super seriously, so this is your opportunity to help us improve the game.

They will send out e-mails whenever they decide to start sending them. I'm sure no one has received an e-mail yet. We don't even know when they plan to start the beta, or if they have even picked a date yet.

I can't upload the DxDiag.txt, it says it cannot move the uploaded file... what??? I even tried different web browsers.

I found the soluthion - you should rename Dxdiag.txt to somethink like 1234.txt (I renamed it to 1432.txt and it worked)

The internet connection doesn't let me choose the type of internet (FTTC) that I have, the ages were all out of order on the age question, they provide zero guidance on how to get a dxdiag file and then when you do they failed to realise trying to copy them all to the same folder is a bad idea.

I bet that's a vector for some kind of security attack too.

requiring you to upload a dxdiag file is common practise for betas. It's not a "vector for some kind of security attack" so relax. The order they lsited the options on the age question made sense to me... I am not sure how else you would list it? Oldest to youngest? I swear some of you attack EA just for the sake of attacking them without even thinking it through...

I've been trying to sign up to the beta and I'm getting this error:

File upload error. Could not move uploaded file.

DXDIAG file is required.

The file is a .txt file that I saved after running DxDiag.exe. Any ideas why this error could occur?

I think that anyone on simtropolis that can register should. It would give feedback to EA from the simtropolis community.

Someone by the name of razor911 creates, among other things, Origin workarounds for most recently released EA titles. I'd say you can expect him to make a workaround for SC5 soon. He had created one for Battlefield 3 even while the game was in beta.

I went through half of the beta registration, until I read the post on here saying that the beta is PC only. I understand why they're doing it that way, but it still sucks for us Mac users, especially given the recent announcement that the Mac version will launch concurrently with the PC version.
