Hello Everyone! We hope you're enjoying the upgrade... a lot of hard work was put into it. We know that there are still some wrinkles to iron out and we could use everyone's help in reporting any bugs or issues that you might encounter with the new site. Please include your Browser and Operating system information when reporting an issue, along with any other information you think might be important.

Thanks!

P.S. We're aware that we already had a Bugs/Issues thread in here, but it was abducted by the aliens. 38.gif

UPDATE 15 July 2015:

The new ST8 bugs report thread can be found here:

I was wondering what is causing some mosaics in the CJ section to not display full size. The ones in my CJ always displayed full size and now they are really small.

I noticed you can no longer update your status right from the status updates area. Would it be possible to enable this?

I have also seen in a couple places reference to a "City Album." Is this a feature that is yet to come?

You can pretty much do this by clicking your name in the bar on the top of your screen.

Why is it that whenever I try to go to the second page of this tutorial it redirects me to the omnibus?

A very nice upgrade. This is not a bug per se, but when you put in https://www.simtropolis.com/forums, it gives you an error now. Perhaps a redirect will help those who have favorited the old link.

Browser: IE9

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Hi Gentlemen,

Firstly, congratulations for this very nice upgrade, this is beautifull !

However, I've just checked my map list on the STEX, and it curiously ends at map #30... ...and I have uploaded today my last two maps #35 and #36.

These phantom maps (#31 to #36) only appear with the other old ones when browsing a general map list (including several designers, not me alone), but I still can not find them when looking at my personnal files...

Any help ?

Thanks

Izi

On the "Your Messanger" page, in the "Folders" panel, the orange boxes with numbers on the right don't quite line up with their labels on the left. Firefox, Windows Vista.

Would it be possible to make the chat darker. It is too light.

I also noticed our status updates aren't displayed above posts we make like they did on the old system. Could these be put back?

Search delimitations only go back one year for user content, STEX browsing by user, etc.

I know that this was happening before the upgrade, but it continues into the new era of ST 7.3.3 - here's the thread posted about it yesterday...

Actually, scratch my last post: the huge black bar that follows down the screen is really intrusive.

Why was it changed again, so recently after the last huge upgrade, and during the biggest news event we've had in at least five years?

Thanks for the new site :)

My only problem i that my avatar has stopped moving this happens on the forum when posting and on the user list in chat. It doesn't happen when viewing my profile. I have checked and my file uploaded for my avatar and photo are the same. I'm sorry if this is due to a silly mistake by me.

Start over at www.simtropolis.com and navigate your way back, it should be working now? Unless you have an old link -- we're going to retroproof older links this weekend.

You answered your own question.

Somehow my photo was exchanged for my avatar. Can I have my old avatar back?

Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04 Beta 1 and 12.04 Beta 2. Firefox 11.0.

Something unrelated:

Sometimes when I post in a topic, the indicator that shows unread posts is not updated.

I wouldn't say this is a particularly important issue, but I was wondering if being able to switch pages in "Dashboard View" will be added in the new CJ section, or if that view is explicitly meant to see what is recent. Currently you have to switch to "Table View" for the option to change pages.

So far most other bugs I've experienced have been fixed, but I'll keep a look out.

(P.S. - The auto save feature for posts is really nice!)

I did change my avatar, but you've lost the animation. Tsk, tsk.

Reputation for posts is only visible if you yourself +1, previously you could see the reputation your own posts had gotten as well as other peoples. Is this intentional?

Firefox - Vista 32bit (I know, I know...) May also be worth noting that I am using NoScript, but it worked before the upgrade.

Indeed, the fact that we've switched from "simtropolis.com/forum" to "community.simtropolis.com" keeps tripping me up. I've developed a habit of just typing "s" in the address bar and hitting enter to come here since "simtropolis.com/forum" is the first thing that pops up (Firefox). Now that doesn't work!

Animated avatars have broken because the forum is loading a generated thumbnail that does not support animated gifs, lazy programmers. The image next to our posts is in this format(broken):

/uploads/profile/photo-thumb-[uID].[EXT]

But the correct format, as seen on our profiles, is:

/uploads/profile/photo-[uID].[EXT]

Well done once again IPS for breaking avatars!

It seems that the format here is designed to use photos of people profile picture style rather than avatars. Note how under your profile it says "change my photo", not "change my avatar". Chalk it up to the social networkization of everything these days. The internet isn't just for nerds anymore! :P

I also notice a new bit on the forum homepage with "Replies from your friends". Which, by the way, doesn't work properly: when you click anywhere in the box it collapses the box, so the links aren't clickable.

...

The odd thing is that this issue has not arrisen on the forum that I am a Sr. Mod of. They upgraded to 3.3 and not one animated avatar died.

...

I remember when posting an opinion on the internet needed a basic knowledge of servers and HTML, then came blogs that required an IQ in the double digits, now there is Facebook and Twitter... You can fill in the rest. :D
