I have found that inserting a link to a Youtube video automatically converts it to that, you don't have to use the Media function.

Regarding the chat button, I have tried Shift + F5, but it is always in the top right corner. Latest version of Chrome (18.0.1025.162).

It is a server error that displays there. Should go away when it is fixed.

Noticed a transient glitch. Opened a forum and was presented with an unread thread indicator falsely. I was sent to the first post in the thread. This may have been because the download was incomplete.

I've come with a slight buggy that's been around for as long as I've been here... and might not even be able to be fixed for whatever reason.

More or less on the STEX filtering, you can filter files by "Most Downloads" and "Most Reviews" with no error at all; the files show up in order. However, when you switch to "Highest Rating", I think the top file is a 4.77 or something... which obviously, is not right. Is there any way to fix this persistent bug? It's nothing major or threatening at all, just wondering what we can do for this old little glitch.

^ Why do you believe this is a glitch? 5.0 is the highest rating, and is probably impossible to get.

Because there are hundreds of files with a rating higher than 4.77.

The second rating is 4.86. The third is 4.75. And the fourth is 4.91.

Hmm. Looks like search needs more work, again!

Writing a good search is enough to drive a programmer into writing documentation.

I think it is ordered by the number of ratings rather than by the rating itself.

Yeah, that must be it, actually. It works for everything on the first page except for two that seemed to just be swapped.

Nice work there. :)

Aha! Wrong field offset. I suspect this is a typical off-by-one problem caused by not knowing whether to count from 0 or 1.

I've been getting this on the topic of the screen instead of the chat button, I don't use chat so its not causing me a problem and It only seems to be on this session as I'm sure I would have noticed it before

^ Seems to be an intermittent problem. I too have seen it.

Another intermittent problem: Sometimes when I open a forum is is flagged as totally unread. Generally opening one thread in the list resets things properly. It appears that some part of the retrieval mechanism fails to flag seen posts occasionally.

I tried a search today by enclosing my search string in quotes. The quotes were ignored by the search. It is fundamental to most syntax that a terminal symbol can be enclosed in quotes and not parsed but matched as given (without the quotes). This is a grave failing in the search.

The search string was "Politics of Canada" which is the exact title of the thread I was searching for the parser picked up my two character 'of' and failed. Maybe this whole area needs to be readdressed. This kind of syntax has been around since the early 1980s or perhaps earlier.

I suggest a review of the UNIX/Linux/POSIX articles on regular expression searches and how to implement them.

Something really weird going on in the

stglitch.jpg

It seems that a post made by tk4210 is now being displayed as a post made by Haljackey. I only assume that part is wrong as a following post by Tarkus mentions Haljackey's work in years past...

^That is odd.

Couple things I've noticed:

1. The chat button appears to be fixed (for me at least). I'm not sure when, as I have been quite busy and not as active lately, but thanks anyway.

2. The site has gotten a lot slower since I was last on a few weeks ago. Yesterday evening I had a couple time-outs, but this morning I have had 5 in 10 minutes.

^ Jack, I haven't had any of that. Have you checked your gear, and with your ISP?

Don't know if this is the proper forum, but here goes with my question...

In a prior incarnation of the site, whenever a file was uploaded to the STEX, it's title would display a little "1" after the file name - assuming that this meant "version 1" of the file. This was retroactively fit onto all uploads to the STEX, but now seems to have gone out of vogue - for example, when I look at my list of files on the STEX, the little tiny "1" appended to the title of each has ceased to exist after a certain date.

Why was this implemented and subsequently abandoned? I kind of hated it since it was implemented, and am more than glad to see it gone; however, I would absolutely like to rid all my uploads listed on the STEX of this stupid little "1" added to the end of their titles. Is there a way to do this? My reasoning is that so many of my packs are numbered, it makes it visually confusing to add an insignificant and unneeded "1" to the end of them. "Vol 3 1" looks odd, whereas "Vol 3" makes sense; especially since there's no consistency overall - the silly little 1's just stop appearing after a while.

Worth a try with a different browser to see if it a problem at your end or at the server.
