Yeah, you need the official EP1 update from Maxis' official site *AND* the update available on the B.A.T. downloads page which enables night lighting on B.A.T. created structures.  Go to the page where you can download the BAT and find the SimCity 4 Rush Hour/Deluxe Update down on the left-hand side of the page.

one question though...

have you guys made any sort of ornamental pagoda at all?  because im trying hard to look for one, but of course, cant.  if you do, could i take a gander at it?  thanks, that would be great!

These are awesome.  I love the site with the Hiroshima streetcars and stuff - looking over the stuff there again I have downloaded even more stuff!

If you don't know what a GCA archive is, then try this link:
It is a Japanese program I'd guess (haven't downloaded it myself quite yet).  2.gif

EDIT: yeah, I definitely have no idea how to use it.  8.gif  Even with Asian Font Support from the XP disc installed and whatnot, I see a lot of '??'s and stuff when I try any of what I presume to be the 'File' menu and then pick the downloaded GCA archive.

quote>

At the above site, download gca_v09k.exe. Copy it to its own folder. Open the program and you'll see gcac.exe.  It runs from the command line with the syntax gcac e <some file name>.gca.  It will uncompress an archive to a folder with the same name.  Spaces in file names are not allowed.

This is the URL, I believe: http://members3.tsukaeru.net/bripizza/mine/mine.html .  Go to the bottom of the page and click on the links.  There are two;  one for the MultiMine part and one for the re_mine part.

Thank you!  By the way, if anybody gets a weird file type not supported error when running the Command Prompt, you probably don't have the right version of the utility.  It works, hehehe...

EDIT: yeah, ST, that's right.

SkyTearer and N74704: we do not make the lots here, we just introduce what Japanese lot makers do and provide download links and descriptions.

Please read the thread carefully. All lots that are shown in this thread have instructions for downloading. I spend time carefully explaining how to download these lots, and it is frustrating when someone comes in, without reading the thread carefully, and asks that all that information be repeated.26.gif I will not repeat it, and you are spamming this thread by asking what has already been answered.

N74704, here is a link to a few pagodas made by Jonney. Find the ZIP download links and click.

Your garden is nice. Someone called it Zen, but I have to disagree. Do a Google image search if you want to know what a Zen garden looks like.

That's just a minor quibble of mine however, and you may ignore it. However, if you want to offer that lot as a favor to the Japanese BAT creators, don't post it here, because we are not the Japanese BAT creators. Post it over at Sim City Force . I doubt if there are more than one or two Japanese BAT creators who ever look at this thread here on Simtropolis.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but it grates on me when people ignore what has been carefully posted and instead take the easy way out and ask that everything be repeated for their sake.

I just read through this whole thread no i didnt read every post.

Do the Japanese underpasses work the newest comment i saw about them was that they were not fuctional.  I also like that they are shorter then marrasts underpasses which are only 1 square shorter then an overpass which just isnt very accurate.

Armandeus

I have noticed a couple of monorail stations in the thread I downloaded both of them and havent had a chance to use any of them yet so one of them might fit the bill but I am looking for a Mono RR Sub and Bus station.  But i would make due with a RR and Mono station.  Also great work on getting communications setup with the Japanese batters.
quote>

Thank you for your appreciation. I'm glad to be of service.

Perhaps you should take the time to read not every post, but every post that seems it might concern the lots you are interested in. I know of no changes to the status of those lots, and so what was posted back then is still true. The underpasses work for the Sims in your city commuting around, but like all lots that have two transit types crossing, U Drive It will not work correctly through the lot. I think that may have been posted earlier.

Try the stations you downloaded and see if they are what you want. There is also a huge offshore skyscraper lot a few pages back that has several types of station connections running through it. You can't miss the picture, so look through the thread for it.

I think the people who view this thread and have questions need to read it before they ask.  It's unacceptable to be lazy and just ask for download links.  Armandeus has taken the time to assemble all these links for us, and we can't even do him the favor of looking for what we want back.  That's preposterous.  And the excuse I don't have time is rediculous at best - you have the time to download, install, and use them, so why not FIND them?  Stupid - it's like admitting you're wrong but you're going to go ahead and do it anyways.

oh yeah, i know the characteristics of zen.  i think he meant zen as an adjective to decribe it as being peaceful, relaxing, meditative things like that...

but lets not split hairs...

thanks for the link to the pagodas, i was gonna try one, but i think i'll leave it to the experts!

oh, and just one more thing.  we generally dont read through 13 pages of thread, so if a question arises, that was answered somewhere in the thread, dont be surpirsed at our lack of searching.  just one thing that will probably bug the heck out of you, but runs rampant throughout the site.

again, thanks for the link.  you are a great guide to the bewildering japanese sites!

EDIT - very true EQ, we should show a little more respect to our gracious guest.

use www.babelfish.altavista.com .  it has a good translator in there and will allow you to navigate the site.

please, as a community, can we not seem so ignorant?

My goodness, I agree completely.

I think I might compile a big index of these lots for you ignorant and/or lazy types around here, and where applicable I will post the translated and/or modded to English versions I have made but while still requiring the models from the original creator ... I will put that up on my own website eventually, and will post here when I start work on it.  That way you can find the lots you are looking for easily, lazily, and quickly, and without sounding ignorant as heck.

I agree with Armandeus and Equinox. One SHOULD read the ENTIRE thread for detailed information regarding specific lots--many questions can and will be answered within. Also, some lots may need specific Japanese programmes to open them or to use them.

However, since I've been tracking this thread since the beginning, and as a courtesy to those new to this specific thread, I've decided to post the sites or pages that I have specifically saved and downloaded lots from. You will need to copy and paste. I'm SURE there are some that are missing from my list, as I've not downloaded from all the sites Armandeus has so graciously provided information for.

As I, Statesman and others have previously listed, www.babelfish.altavista.com is a great beginning source to translate these websites. You may need to download foreign language programmes from Microsoft, too. But, definitely utilise the myriad of FREE translation sites available online. I hope this post is helpful. Explore AND Enjoy!

Oooooh, yet another hearty thanks to Armandeus for finding those beautiful pagodas expertly BATted by Jonney. In truth, I had briefly glimpsed similar pagoda images on Sim City Force or a related gallery site when I first started the thread, but in the rush to take in all the cool new stuff I had lost the link and could never find them again. Nothing like cut-pasting the few kanji and kana I know into Japanese search engines in the vain hope that something I recognize will result. I'm so overjoyed that you caught these for everyone here. At last, I can see Kyoto and Nara in SimCity and die happy!

Scratch several castles, pagodas, and shrines off my Want List. Maybe with luck, the Kyoto Gosho and the completed Tokyo Station will arrive. 19.gif19.gif19.gif9.gif

ok, before i send this over to SimCityForce, i want a last general consensus.
    /idealbb/files/japaneseplaza.jpg
since my last post, ive added bamboo, red canna, lotus, japanese maple, juniper and japanese lanterns.
    /idealbb/files/japaneseplaza2.jpg
some giant bamboo in the foreground (not a part of the lot)
    /idealbb/files/japaneseplaza3.jpg
    interesting perspective.
    /idealbb/files/japaneseplaza4.jpg
the lanterns provide a soft glow on the plaza.
    /idealbb/files/japaneseplaza5.jpg\

so should i present this to our japanese friends?

That would be a great idea! As far as I read, the Japanese BATters don't mind when you translate the lot files into English, so I'd like to ask if I may translate them also into German for SimsZone.de. 1.gif

n74704...those are great!! You should present them to the SimCityForce. It's really pretty terrific...and, I love the bamboo!

BTW...I mentioned you above in a previous post, but listed you as 'Statesman' when I meant n74704. There was so much I wanted to say that I didn't pay attention.

n74704 I would like to make a suggestion to make your lovely lot better.   Try adding a glow to those lamps using the LightGlobe prop in the LightCone2.zip attachment to this post:

Note that they need power to light up and they only show at night.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the building in your lot looks familiar. Is it Jonney's? If it is not your creation, then posting your lot to a Japanese site might give the impression that we are out to take their lots and claim them as our own work.

If I am mistaken, then my apologies.

Other than that, might I suggest a more minimalist approach to tree and lantern placement? That would make the lot appear more Japanese.

haha... japan's moved a bit past godzilla movies (although it remains very popular to this day).  japan has developed a very large anime culture.  anime is pretty much japanese animation, known for its distinct artistic styles and unique stories.  some take place in the near/distance future, at times with large mechs (large mechanical suits worn by soldiers in the future) fighting many times in some futuristic fascist-fundamental or mega-corporate world/galatical government.

some anime have made it into the states - whether it be miyazaki's spirited away, kiki's delivery service, to cartoon network's ms gundam, tenchi muyo, wolf's rain, cowboy bebop, intial d, to name a few.  ghost in the shell (which many have called the pre-matrix japanese matrix) is coming back again.  but yeah, it mite be something u're interested in checking out...
