CNG Buses- Compressed natural gas buses can be of a great help to the SC 2013 glass box environment. Why create a city or region that everyone needs a car to get around in? You can put a dozen of these babies on the road to cut down on vehicular air pollution and keep your city or region clean and smog free.

292bo89.jpg

BRT Stations- I truly believe Bus Rapid Transit can save you time and money on road repair and save your commuters from traffic jams and rush hour nightmares. For all you simaholics out there that like to build big and that are mass transit addicts, BRT stations along busy highway/roadways and that service local train stations can really keep your Sims going. Just think of the steady stream of happy Sims going to and from places within your region with this mass transit option.

1yqnn7.jpg

Subway/Elevated Rail- I'm positive that SC 2013 will have this mode of transportation, but the only thing I have seen so far was commuter rail and trams. BORING! I mean we need more variety don't ya think? What is a city or region without subway/elevated rail? Your sims really can't get too many places quick and fast with commuter rail, plus commuter rail takes up a ton of ground space and really won't do your city's core justice. At least with Subway/Elevated rail you can bury your tracks under your downtown or under dense patches of land, and elevated rail frees up ground space so that you can have more space to build your Sims homes and businesses near stations. Aside from that, why download or create realistic looking mods when they should already be in the game. Basically what i'm saying is you know how in some metros you have subway/elevated rail trains that travel in the medians of avenue, roadways,or highways? Just like the tram set up,you should be able to convert your elevated rail to ground level, sub surface, trench,or underground with the tools provided in the game. Here are pictures of what i'm talking about. The black and white picture is classic. Get a load of the BART train with the Oakland,CA skyline in the background. Wouldn't it be neat to see your city skyline with the subway/elevated train heading to it and from it. Real mass transit fans know what I mean.

They will certainly do most of the common transport vehicles , but i'm sure they will release a expansion ala rush hour , if not with even the same name!

If anything, I'd think they'd put an ordinance in to allow us to choose if we want green mass transit.

SimCity is still being developed, just because something isn't in the game right now, doesn't mean it won't be in the final game.

Here is my list of issues that I did not like in SimCity 4 and would like to be fixed in SimCity 2013:

    - Please include automatic funding adjustment for hospitals, schools, etc. In SimCity 4, whenever the capacity of a school/hospital/utility was exceeded, you had to manually move the funding slider to increase capacity of the building or a strike would happen. It was extremely tedious to constantly do this (especially when you had to do it for, say, 20 different schools every time your city population increased). In SimCity 2013, give us the option to move the sliders manually, but also give us an option for automatic sliding adujstment.

    - In SimCity 4 the whole transportation simulation was a mess. For example, Sims would choose the shortest route to get to where they wanted to go, instead of the fastest route. This would lead to a whole host of problems. An extremely frustrating part of SimCity 4 was that it was pretty much impossible to solve the 'building abandoned due to long commute time' issue. No matter what you did, half your city buildings would end up abandoned and ugly looking due to this. No more of this please.

    - Make the total area coverage of a service building a square rather than a circle. With circles you get tons of these tiny gaps in your coverage unless you place the service buildings so close together that their coverage is extremely overlapping.

    - Some service buildings (especially hospitals) did not have nearly enough capacity. It doesn't look realistic to have to build 3 hospitals on every block.

    - Make a better cheat for getting funds. Entering the cheat over and over again only to get 1000 each time is very tedious.

    - Transportation WIDE..variety.

    - Farms!!

    - Modding

    - Complete single player(not limited single player until you connect)

    - Blimps! (haha, really, they´re cool)

    - WALL-TO-WALL BUILDINGS (every SC13 video i saw, every building have a garden/open area/empty lot around.)

    - Lhamas!

    - modable/expandable seaports (like anno2070 +dlcs)

    - old, new, high-tech and fantasy-like energy production/water/waste variety (from steam/coal to hydroeletric, passing by solar-thermal chimney to particle fusion and space-based solar power etc)

    - disasters, from plane crash to ice age. (ok, put that down, since i heard there´s no "load game" in case you want to destroy your city for fun. -_- )

Having squared off coverage areas or areas based on the transit network is a very good idea

Then I'll wait for the rush hour expansion pack. A city ain't a city until it has all forms of transport.

If anything, I'd think they'd put an ordinance in to allow us to choose if we want green mass transit.

That would be awesome, then modding professionals can create vehicles that coordinate with that ordinance so it balances out in the game and saves the city from high levels of smog and air pollution.

I totally agree with you on this......... I hated that in SC4 you had to build more civic facilities and buildings than needed. It did appear unrealistic because most real cities have at least one to three police station every 4-5 square miles apart. That would of meant a single police station, hospital, school, etc. for every tile and not 4-5 in each tile like in SC4. You really had to fill your city with more civic structures than necessary and it was costly. That is why I used cheats to make the most of my city.

Even on the easy game play level it was difficult to build a city off of 500,000 simoleons.

Since there is a chance that someone from EA could actually read this: My only wish is that I can play this new game whenever I want and in privacy of my home, without any forcing to get online, paying for some stuff after I've already paid for the game itself, and playing multiplayer game when I don't want it. Simple as that. I've paid for it, now let me do with it whatever I want, do not force me to check-in every time I change my city or region.

When im sat playing simcity 4, i know that there is something missing.. something is not there in the game. but i cant put my finger on it.

It needs a purpose. It could do with the addition of TIME perhaps spanning from a few hundred years back and into the near future... but i dont think that is it...

The natural disasters should be forced and random in occurance, outside of player control. This would work really well imo if you think about it. But thats not what its missing either...

I guess aweinspiring graphics would be a very good addition to this specific type of game. I mean its really only played so it can be looked at and marvlled at.

As for the thing its missing, i really cant put my finger on it. But its still a good game, hopefully simcity 5 will include all the above and more.

What has been missing in Sim City 4 is the fact that cars and Sims didn't had a destination, no real purpose.

In Sim City 5 they say every Sim/car/truck has a place to go, no more disappearing cars, I think it's a step in the right direction.

I know this will probably end up being DLC but I hope they have lots of city styles. I'm not talking about city specialization but I hope there's a lot of those too.

What I mean is I hope you can dictate the overall appearance of your region's cities. For example, I'd like to build an Asian style region. For example, a lot of my skyscrapers and signs would feature lots of neon colors and lighting.

At the same time, I'd like to make a different region that is very postmodern. And maybe one that resembles Victorian style buildings.

On the other hand, I'd like a lot of city specializations. I know they said you can do a tourist-y city, industrial coal city, and heavily suburban residential city. I'd like to be able to specialize a city in agriculture, another to be like Silicon Valley and very tech-based, etc.

1.Fully detailed citizens (In the pictures posted by the community the citizens look like "Legos") .

2.Cars don't disappear (What is this "City Life"?)

3.The suggestion of an text box feature to name businesses is a fantastic idea!

4.Tons of animations so you'd have a blast watching sims in your city!

5.A full citizen customization screen to create your own citizen.

6.Tracking system to auto-matically follow pedestrians.

I pay more attention to the graphics of the game more attentively , than rather the gameplay. Although I hope they don't screw that up. I'm confident Maxis won't. :) -WISHLIST-

Not to rain on your idea but Maxis already stated that won't be happening in this game at least. But luckily for you, they've acknowledged that they've thought about it. It could possibly happen.

Not going to read trough 3 pages of a lot of messages to see if my wish is already there. So this is 1 of my biggest wishes.

My biggest wish is to be able to deal with disasters. From a simple accident to a huge fire that can ingulf the whole region to a tornado or even tsunami.

Since the beginning, I am very interested in this kind of things. So it would be awesome to actually be able to play with it. And no Emergency4 isn't good enough for me.

In SimCity4 you can play with disasters. But, when you stop pushing it (like starting a fire, it will stop whenever you have enough (brandweerkazernes), and that sucks. In real life, even with a (brandweerkazerne) next door. The fire can grow so huge that the whole building will be destroyed, or even worse it gets out of hand. Also, with the nature disasters, they do only work if your in disaster mode, and that sucks.

In Cities XL 2012, they demand you to build a lot of emergency building, which cost a lot. But they aren't doing anything. With luck you can see a emergency car driving around, without sirenes and so on. So, quite useless add-on in my eyes.

So I hope, this game will be different. Even if I have to pay some extra money, I do want to be able to see a fire and then be able to send a few fire trucks to the place, which put out the fire. And when I haven't got enough firemen, it will go out of hand and a lot of buildings will go down. I then as mayor need to order things, get the money to fix it (to deal with the victems and so on).

Another big thing I want is real weather. In SimCity Societies you had some sort of weather. But, because the zoom was so bad, you couldn't see anything of it. In Simcity 4 you had thunder, but it would only be there when you actually are in disaster mode. And I hate that. I want to build a city and then see the rain coming down, dealing with the problems that can be caused by it, or just seeying it and affecting the city with it.

That's all I really want. The rest is just my problem (like graphics, my pc can barely handle Cities XL 2012 in HIGH, so need to have a better pc to play this game).

    1. Expandable highways.

    - So far in the screenshots I think I've seen an Avenue, a road, a small street and that's it. Make MORE! Expressways with 8 lanes! Avenues with 4 or 6 lanes! One Way streets with 2, 4 or even 6 lanes so you can make one way avenues. Avenues with different types of medians NOT effected by what type of building is on it, but rather settable by the user.

    - In addition, ability to control what type of traffic control system is in place at different intersections. Stop signs, traffic lights, dedicated turning lanes! NO stop signs!

    2. Civic/Service buildings coverage NOT by circles, but squares by default. Depending on the amount of funding you give a service lot, I want to be able to DRAW the amount of coverage that facility gets! For example, funding a small town NOT in a cirle of square layout and NOT having wasted space.

    3. Hospitals with better capacity, or ability for capacity of Hospitals or Schools to be upgraded on the fly (i.e. if you have a clinic and you need a hospital, you don't have to bulldoze the clinic to build a hospital, you can just click in the query window to UPGRADE (for a cost, of course). Same with schools, if you need a bigger school with more capacity, allow upgrading it instead of bulldozing and putting some sims out of work.

    4. MORE ORDINANCES! Legalize Gambling will give you the ability to build the Casino whenever, NOT when your funds run dry! Watering restriction ordinances, car pool incentive, clean air public transpo, etc.

    5. Bus stops not taking up an entire tile but rather being part of the street. I HATED HATED HATED needed to rezone should I needed to put a bus stop on a street which didn't have one. Same with subway stations!

    6. Elevated rails, PLEASE. Make it so Elevated rail stations didn't need a 3x1 space where I had to rezone again. Make (low density) zones able to go under anything elevated instead of bulldozing over it. Elevated rails above street. Regular freight or commuter rails above streets!

    7. Better control over your budgets in general. Automatic adjustment for hospital, school and power budgets to meet demand (but you can always tweak if needed).

    8. Better toll road system. Toll collection at certain exits, not just on the highway itself, so you don't feel like you're gouging your sims and you're getting the tolls from sims who are travelling from exit to exit. Ability to control the cost of tolls at certain booths.

    9. Simulation automata actually taking the correct or fastest way (or just...normal, like a human would do) to work. They're so stupid it's not even funny. There's an interstate which allows them to travel at 55mph right next to them with accessable exit ramps, but they take the street which has 8 stop signs and can only go at 30mph, then they complain like morons that the commute time is too high.

    10. More types of buildings. An entire City block of the same house, or the same office building is droll. Or, alternatively, a more thought out algorithm to put different buildings in adjacent spots. I don't need 600 law firms in my city and 1,000 printing presses, thanks.

    11. Bring back the SC2000 newspaper at the end of the month! That was fun :3

    12. Less buggier placement of plops that must go on land and water, such as the seaport or ferry terminals (please let us have Ferries).

    13. More realistic looking airports, or at least more runways. Very few international airports have all the runways going in the same direction and the planes all take off the same way.

    14. Bring back some more natural disasters, such as the flood or hurricane.

    15. REAL. TRAFFIC. JAMS. AUTOMATA THAT IS NOT HARRY HOUDINI. PLEASE.

    16. Weather! Rain, snow, sleet, ice, hail, wind

16a. Streets and Sanitation department, not just sanitation department. Snow plows that clear the streets of snow. Don't pay them enough, they don't clear snow and your sims get pissed that they have to take off work and your avg. income goes down! If your Streets and Sanitation department is not up to budget, your streets flood because your sewer system sucks.

    17. Random natural disasters with certain settings. Lots of rain? Have a small flood take out a park. Rebuild park. Hail damage to roads. Lightning damage to anything. Wind damage to buildings. Snow degrading roads if your budget isn't high enough.

    18. Visual breakdown of public services, and if they're funded enough, noticable repair. If your roads aren't budgetted right, pay the price with fewer resurfacing and more potholes. More potholes, the more pissed your sims get and demand restitution for flat tires, thus coming out of your city budget.

Other than that, reading through this, all my other wishes are fulfilled.

I cannot understand why so many people want war in this game! If you want to go down that route, get something like Civlisation V or Tropico 4. SimCity is fundamentally about construction, not destruction.

We all have some gripes against this game. But explain me this: What makes a SimCity Game for you? For me, a few things make or break the game.

    For me, this is:

-Custom Regional Transit System (My Highways break down into ferries, do large loops, and my rail goes loop-de-loop in a certain city, and my el rail/tram just cuts the neighbourhoods in quarters.

-The easy creation of my own custom content, FOR JUST ME (I love making realistic lots regardless of how they affect the game)

-The ability to shove a load of cities together into a gigantic CBD

-The ability to create education and health to 100% (like I always get, literally)

-Get my sims to love me (100%) mayor rating (like I always get, literally)

-None of those had any untruths in them.

The first three seem to be impossible in SC5, so :(. What makes a SimCity to you?

    The city lay red...
    Flaming and broken...

Then he exited to region, reloaded, and it was fine.

To me, the fundamental concept that defines the SimCity franchise is the ability to create a city of your vision in the way you want it to be. SC4 allows the player to do this, and is very nonrestrictive in how a player can develop a region/city. With the regional gameplay, players can create a sprawling metropolis or a small farming village, or anything in between. However, with Maxis's focus on the multiplayer/online capability, I feel that this fundamental concept is being taken away from SimCity. Predetermined regional transportation, always-online required gameplay, the lack of Terraforming, and multiplayer all restrict our ability to create and develop our regions and cities in the way we want to. This is why I feel SimCity should be called SimCity and not SC5; I don't think it improves on aspects of SC4 that were good, but needed improvement; I think it is taking a step back in some major areas.

    IMO, SimCity needs the following:

    -Offline mode

    -Terraforming

    -Control over regional transport

-Same fundamental regional gameplay concept of SC4, but with improvements (e.g.: Adjacent city tiles, instead of city tiles being separated)

-More transit options than that which has been shown

    -Full support for modding

Unfortunately, most of these will not be included in SimCity; which, for me, makes SimCity SimCity, not SC5.

Unrelated: Everyone's wishlist for SC should be posted in thread, and I'm not a mod, but I suggest this thread be merged with the one I mentioned, as they are very similar.

To me, the only thing wrong with SimCity 2013 right now is the no control over intercity connections thing (this is a HUGE HUGE wrong, mind you). While I feel for those who don't have stable internet connections, the online requirement thing isn't really something that affects me, or I'd imagine most people (most games are going in this direction anyways).

I don't like the idea about no density zoning and having road size control it, but I'm keeping an open mind until I get more information about this. And I'm also assuming at this stage we'll have terraforming... if there isn't any that will be another HUGE HUGE wrong.

What I require from SimCity 2013 is to stop simply removing core features from SC4. Just add or improve. Don't simply remove.

For me, Simcity is one where one can:

Have a realistic simulation of traffic with an intelligent AI

A decent size tile such that it would be a realistic representation of a real life city

    Terraform the land

Able to create new user-defined regions

Perhaps more choices in terms of policy decisions aka ordnances

    Functional agricultural land

Everything that SC4 is with Rush Hour and NAM, if SC5 was going to be that with fancy graphics and curvy road I would've been a happy chap.

But it seems SC5 will have nothing that I want in the game and everything that I don't want.

    Yeah, not good.

For me, it's quite simple: Open Sandbox.

Do what you want, how you want, when you want. Any restrictions would simply be absurd in this day and age, there's literally no reason for it. If Minecraft has better ability to allow the player to do what he wants, this game will fail miserably. It's that simple.

I disagree; I don't think it's that simple. I agree that SimCity should be open and nonrestrictive, allowing the player to creat their city, how they want it, but I don't think the game should be a sandbox. Look at all the previous games; they had restrictions, mainly the budget. Other restrictions such as the ones seen in SC4 should be included as well. I think many people want a challenge, as there are challenges and restrictions in real-life urban design and civil engineering.

That's fine but including a sandbox mode as an option is the best solution...most games like this do have sandbox modes

For such a high-profile game, I doubt they can release it as a pure sandbox. There has to be a point. An objective. Money/budget I guess can be one of them, but don't make it something dumb like region restrictions, transportation, etc. Looking back at simcity games, budget was really the only restriction (besides software/programming limitations). Have scenarios, have objectives, have Steam-esque unlocks for doing certain things, but don't restrict it arbitrarily because that's the way they decided to take the game. It will fail, I guarantee it.
