Hope you don't mind, but I just modified that texture again, as I noticed that some of the markings were wrong. I have also smoothed the markings. There are versions for both LHD & RHD.

Dexter: Awesome! I like how you made the left RHW transfer into the centre lane for RHD because the exits are on the right so its easier to merge over. This is what you see in real life! Excellent job!

I have made some more textures for RHW tolls. One for RHW4, and two for the RHW2. One of the RHW2 textures is for a Electronic TAG only lot, which will not slow down the traffic in-game. The other is standard. The ones for RHW4 increase to 6 lanes of traffic in each direction (one of which is a TAG lane) 10.gif.

Please note that the below versions are for LHD Only. The RHD textures should be released by Sunday. Scroll down for RHD textures. I plan to make some lots which will use these textures, although some models will be required, as well as custom pathing 34.gif. The TAG lanes will act the same as normal lanes, as the game cannot detect different types of automata, and I doubt that any modders could change that 8.gif.

I have reduced the image size below to comply with site rules. To enlarge the image, click on it.

Now that definitely looks cool. Hopefully, there will be a nice toll booth BAT as well. 4.gif The only thing I'm not too sure about the red painted lanes and the "TAG" label (perhaps that should be an abbreviation for "Sim Highway Toll Pass" or something along these lines), though - it might work for the UK, but I guess you should change that for the RHD textures, to make them more international.

Also, those symbols at the ends of the image, I think those are speed limits? For those of us in the States, that wouldn't be good. I assume that those are 30 KPH, which is about 18 MPH. Where I am, the absolute highest for tag-dedicated lanes is 20 (And those are painted EZPass purple, so the idea of painting those red isn't a bad one), but most are 5mph. Other than that, it's great!

WOW! Suburb job with those Toll textures Dexter! I really like the one for the RHW-2! All tollways are electronic here, so there is no need for the booths. By the way, what is this "tag" line or "EZ" pass that people are talking about? If those are electronic, why to people have to slow down to 5 Mph at the scanners? Shouldn't they be able to pass by at whatever the normal speed is on the highway?

I know the FasTrak electronic passes that are used in California (primarily on the toll bridges near San Fran and the county-funded 73, 133, 241 and 261 toll roads in Orange County) don't require slowing down to be read....

I am not sure I like the idea of dedicated toll lanes on such a narrow highway - it's been tried and failed in real life near me. The ones that do have dedicated carpool lanes (not toll) are wide urban highweays that have at least 4 regular lanes in each direction.

I have modified the textures for use with RHD versions of the game. Please note that these textures are not final, but are in beta.

I have removed all of the wording for international use. I am not sure what to do about the tag EZ TAG lane. I may remove them, and use them only on the textures for RHW-6 & larger.

Please note that the below versions are for RHD Only. The version 1 of the LHD textures are already uploaded a few posts above

I love it, Dexter! The UK effect is amazing! The red coloured lanes are fantastic, and the NSL signs, as well as the 30 (mph, simzebu), are very very good touches. Keep up the fantastic work!

Actually, that's a good question. The reason is with EZPass, the New York State Thruway's RFID toll tag system, the lanes are mixed in with the chash lanes. So the cashiers need to walk across the EZPass lanes to get to the cash lanes. The speed is limited to 5MPH so that the toll collectors don't get hit. The 20MPH ones are actually really new. They're on the end of the toll plaza opposite the place where the workers enter, so nobody needs to go down there. I'm not sure why they chose 20MPH, since the tag can be detected and read at over 35. IMO, they should switch to a system that I heard is being used in Canada, where it reads your license plate at highway speed and bills you based on that. But a bunch of idiots think its an invasion of privacy, even though the booths already take pictures of your plates, and if you don't like it you can use US 9+20.

Now that's what I'm talking about!     37.gif   Opening up whole new "Avenues" extending the life of SC4 even further. Especially with our Indiana Toll-Road (now owned by a company in Spain), Us and Illinois has the EZpass type, where the Speed Limit in Illinois for example is 40-50 mph, I-88, and portions of I-90 (NW toll way).  Excellent Job!!! We need more of it...

Albatross, I have travelled on Interstate94 and 294 and parts of I-88 (mainly around Chicago and suburbs) and the I-PASS (Ill. EZ-PASS variant) and the speed for those lanes are 5MPH to 10MPH (mainly 5MPH). I don't know about the rural tools, but thats all I know. (Ihave family in Lisle, Illinois and Harwood Hieghts, Ill.) The new set up that they have allows you to go the freeway speeds at some tollbooths. I think it is called Open Road Tolling, but you still can pay cash too.

here in dallas/fort worth, our toll roads have tolltag...the main through lanes at the toll plazas are electronic while the outer areas at the toll plazas are booths. the speed limit for the booths area is usually around 20 and the main lanes are full speed. it really helps with congestion. plus all the tolltags here work on all toll roads in texas and texas toll road passes work on tolltag roads.

WHAT?!? Two lanes with a yellow dotted line, six lane rhw, onramps, nice looking intersections?!?

Where is this coming from?

1. I've been trying to BAT up a combined one way/stop sign assembly that could be used for intersections in the RHW project.  The result:

sc4stopsignimagepj0.jpg

2.  Since my intentions to upload a pack of railroad crossings signals (an example of which is shown back on page 43 of this topic) to the STEX having been repeatedly thwarted by a URL error, I also offer them for the RHW or TLA projects.

3.  Regarding the RHW not showing up on the region view map:  theoretically, how much work would it be to change the RHW so it replaces the regular Maxis highways so it would show up on the regional transportation map?  The RHW is showing much more promise than the Maxis highways right now.

@755: I'm a bit ahead of you there. Look below V....

After talking with Tarkus the other night, I decided to continue with my cosmetic mod that I was working on for the RHW. I will also be helping him with the RHW MIS so he can get it released. So, here's what I have been up lately:

rhwguardrailsstartgr7.jpg

rhwguardrailsstart2yo3.jpg

Starting the draw of the RHW with two parallel segments of the ANT.

rhwguardrailsspeedlimitoz4.jpg

Speed Limit Signs (70 MPH in this case, which is my personal preference for the network speed)

rhwguardrailsrightcurvejj7.jpg

rhwguardrailsleftcurvewf9.jpg

Curves. There are also setups for the opposites of each curve. (Sign props custom made by me)

rhwguardrailsowendsjp7.jpg

rhwguardrailsaveendff0.jpg

Ends of the RHW with One Way Roads and an Avenue

rhwguardrailssidestreettc8.jpg

Intersecting side street with a custom stop sign prop. The white sign on the bottom is a "Right Turn Only" sign.

rhwguardrailswideyh2.jpg

Wide median between sides of the RHW with guardrails and a crossover.

All the signs that I have created myself are to scale with the real world content that I used as inspiration for my models. So the custom stop sign, chevron arrows, arrow signs, curve signs, and speed limit signs are all to scale with their real world counterparts.

The guardrail props are Jestarr's and are found in his MEGA Prop Pack Vol 01. I modified the exemplar for the 8 meter long straight guardrail prop so it will appear, even if a network tile gets flipped. All the signs and guardrails seen here have been placed via Type 21 exemplars (Network Lots). These exemplars are what make props appear on networks without needing transit-enabled lots. T21's will work for both texture- and model-based networks.

The dirt alongside the roadways are part of a custom mod that I created, which is based off of PEG's Rural Roadways Mod. I modified it to put dirt shoulders in rural/unzoned areas only. My mod affects several networks.

Will this 'cosmetic mod' be optional? It looks very good, but it's way too American, and doesn't fit with LHD. I like the centre barrier, though/

Wow. That is amazing! It's absolutely what I want! Although, now that I think about it, if the guard rail could be taken away when the two sides were separate by a tile or more, and placed as a lot or something in that median, that would more closely resemble what I see where I live. It still looks wonderful, though.

Amazing work!

Coming along nicely, Great work!

Just one thing about the signs (turn and speed), they are a little too small to read. Maybe if you slightly enlarged them they will be easier to identify.

I also liked how you got rid of the inner sidewalk, but does it have to be that dirty texture all the time or can we alter it to be green grass?

The iron crash beerier looks great as well! Any plans on a concrete wall?
