I wanted it so badly for a long time and decided to spend a lot of time last week end.

Tudor City is also almost finished but I needed to think about another model, some fresh air at least.

After hours of work, I obtained that :

The base and the rooftop remain to be finished. This is the first ingame test

The blue balconies shouldn't be so dark, and the windows shouldn't be completely black.  The vertical white stripes are also slightly different on the real building.  I see some of the windows have blinds, but I think more of them should.

As Aaron said, I'm sure a lot of people would love it if you switched to 3ds max.  It would make it a lot easier for you to get realistic looking windows as well as help out with all of the other materials.

You are right concerning 3ds Max. Gmax is a very limited program to BAT. Possibilities we get with this is very low level compared to 3ds Max.

But I hardly were able to make a least a wall with 3dMax. I don't understand anything in that program. Plus the fact that you get to connect different kind of thing concerning the texture. What I need in that is a serious tutorial. (in french as possible).

I have downloaded the student version last year, but they ask me to get the licence after one year of try. And now, they refuse me to download it again considering I already got the trial version (I understood I was suppose to get the unlimited version with the student one). So what can I do?

    Another aspect is my very limited patience. 3ds Max needs to work and work and work. I want to work on it. But I don't have so much times to spend on this, I know this make me a very eager person. But I seriously need a good tutorial to learn fast;

And well; I trust that now, if I m not using 3ds Max I will be out of time in this team. I understand it anyway.

I don't think anyone is going to exclude you from this team - after all, you contribute a lot of great stuff!

It's just the usual thing: you see someone beat a clunky old VW Beetle around the race track with amazing skill, and you cannot help thinking: Someone, anyone, please give this guy a real race car, and he'll go like a rocket!

Pierre, I can offer you a few tutorials, but unfortunately, not in French. If you are interested, contact me. I want nothing more than to see you working your way with 3ds Max. It is frustrating in few first attempt, but trust me, after a week, you will feel very naturally in 3ds Max.

Nobody is going to kick you out of the team. That is out of the question! We would prefer to see you using 3ds Max, but if you choose not to, it's your choice and nothing more is going to happen. You will still be in the team.

the side view of the gmax 425 Fifth Avenue.

ps: PBGV which stripes are you talking about? The vertical ones in the real building seems to be like this on the pics I get and contain a yellow one in the middle... Enlight me.

The stripes change by layer.  The 1st (top set) and 3rd are solid white, while the 2nd and 4th have smaller yellow stripes through the centers.  Yours all have that smaller stripe.  Also, adding the water tower and other "roof junk" would give the top of the building a little more life.

Once you install 3ds max and get bat4max working, you can actually do what you do in gmax. You can extrude splines and you can use the Standard material type instead of the arch & design material type. It's not really the right way to do things but if you're going to be doing them that way in gmax anyway, it would be better to do them in 3ds max and at least get the better rendering and lighting quality. Some of the icons in 3ds max are different than gmax but for the most part it's the same. I'm not sure, but I think you should be able to download the 3ds max documentation in french. And for basic tutorials on polymodeling, I'm sure people have made french ones, but not speaking french I wouldn't be able to find them or recommend any to you.

@Jasoncw, Vlasky and PBGV, Thank you all for your precious advices and to push me the right way. I really appreciate it. :)

I will have to convert most of my old models, at least the Tudors in 3ds Max. I can't (won't) lose it.

Concerning the tutorial, I will try to look for french at least for basic things.

But I think downloading it in english and by the way learning technicals terms in this language will permit to fit with all comments here and be able to understand them in the right sense.

they look great the tudor city towers  ;)
    but I have two concerns
1 - you add the sign tudor city that goes in the middle tower  :thumb:
2 - If my memory serves me right, were 4 towers in total, or not? :ooh:

well done... there is a kinda drama in their appearance, I suspect it is due to the tudor motif...

Thanks everyone for all your kind messages. :]  :]  :]

Definetly, that will be my last Gmax Buildings before I switch to that new world called 3dsMax. LOL.

(Considering I will not redo them in in the other program because it will take a while before being able to do such buildings)

I want to make something the highest quality I can with that program before leaving it.

Some of you were asking for it, the sign topping the Prospect building is coming along. Now the first render of the sign board with letters.

And when we see what you are doing with Gmax, I know your future buildings done under 3dsmax will be outstanding ;)
