First time trying out RHW. Took me the better part of two days to get the interchange as tight as I wanted while managing to keep the slope gradients reasonable, but it turned out pretty well in the end.

That cliff looks terrific! And so does the intersection!

Edit: I wanted to show another interchange I made with a similar concept. I based it off this one I saw on google Maps.

Simple and most compact design which still looks nice:

Using separate lanes for weaving between the loop ramps:

Variant using the newer height transitions, including the diagonal L0-L1 RHW transitions and the 90° L0-L1 curved height transitions:

All of these designs fit comfortably inside a small city district (1 X 1 km) and are realistically scaled.     :ohyes:

Just replaced a cloverleaf interchange in one of my cities. I wish I could have made it more symmetrical, but I only had so much room and the sloping wasn't perfect, so it is what it is. As it stands though, I like this one a lot.

EDIT: Might try to make it more even. I think I see some ways I can61734f028e22c_ScreenShot2021-05-26at1_41_19AM.jpg.f830c2abf534ea6306b7f5b059f399f8.jpg61734f00c6237_ScreenShot2021-10-22at7_46_35PM.jpg.1986801d50ea53a73159f9eea60211ba.jpg

I decided to spruce up the interchange and make things more even. Here it is now after a facelift.

    I like Maxis highways...
Because they're grey, because they're easy to lay, and because of their (NAM) interchanges!

Revisited another one of my interchange. I realized after developing the tile that some connections were missing...

This interchange is getting overloaded. Time to twin the bridges and expand the trumpet.

Bah! Not really much of an improvement. The highway may be twinned, but the ramps have the same capacity

Ok- beef up the ramp, widen the approach, and fine widen the bridges to 3 lanes too.

On the eastern terminus of this highway, the interchange was reworked and is almost unrecognizable.

Where are all these vehicles coming from? The map seems undeveloped and yet you have so much traffic. How did you do that?

PS: great pictures and I like your region very much. :)

Thanks! I run the traffic simulator on low which causes a lot of traffic to show in the game and presents a considerable challenge to manage all the congestion. It's compounded by the fact I have a large, dense city.

This area is at the fringe of development. Commuters will use it to access a new part of town in the east.

The new highway is clearly visible south-central in region view- showing where it connects to.

    Hope that helps!

Fully grade-separating this parclo, getting rid of the traffic lights.

The N/S highway is built to expressway standards- not a full freeway... but it doesn't have any intersections anymore ;)

It was quite a challenge to retrofit this existing interchange on hilly terrain- but that's why I play the game.

Nothing fancy or complex like some of the entries here, but the first actual interchange I made on my own.  Started working on it in a sandbox, got my measurements, made an excel sheet so I could know what to flatten, flattened some hills, used some el-train tracks to smooth cliffs, seeded my forest again, and built in a future city tile.  Overall, took me about 4-5 hours.  Working on a new one that is going to be a bit more complex - but I actually like the way this turned out.  Any suggestions I will glady entertain.

Have you tried using the diagonal ramp-styled height transitions for RHW? Those support MIS and RHW-4, and could help you make the interchange more compact over at various spots. As-is it's still really good!

Seeing as I have no idea what you are talking about - I am going to venture to say 'no'  *

I am still learning parts of the RHW...I know, I know - RTFM...but I prefer to be annoying and ask here than - gasp - read what has been put out.  Maybe I will check out the manual

First of all, fantastic work. Great to see new creations shown here!

What @Lucario Boricua is mentioning is that there are now transition pieces to get your elevated RHW to ground level (or vice vera) on the diagonal so you don't have to curve it and then place the transition.

For example, your WB to NB ramp could have transitioned to ground level with that piece.

Great work as well @franyer! :)
