And NYBT member Aaron all ready did the Transportation Building(it just isn't uploaded yet...). Hanson also did One Times Square...and I just posted progress of old WTC 7 that I was working on it. Welcome back Seraf! I can't wait to see some your works in progress!

Hey Aaron, speaking of your Transportation Building, when are you going to release it? I still have it if you need it.

Odd, I can cut-paste the links into the browser address bar as well, and the images of the wonderful cathedral will show.  Of course, ImageShack sometimes chooses to work when it wants to, and when posting or reading messages with multiple images from ImageShack, often several may not be working.  It is as though different ImageShack servers go offline or are busy at different times.

What I would suggest here on the Forum, however, is to avoid using the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of the thread page when posting links or images.  While terribly convenient, the "Quick Reply" lacks many features of a proper message editor.  Instead, use the green "Reply" button on the last message just above the "Quick Reply" box, which will bring up the "Reply to a Message" pop-up window.  While technically this would be replying to a specific message in the thread (the one whose green reply button you pressed), it is not generally presented that way, as much of the thread is a run-on conversation anyway with new messages all being added to the bottom.

The benefit of the "Reply to a Message" pop-up window is that web addresses entered or pasted into the text area are automatically converted into functional, clickable links, which avoids the need to later have thread readers copy-paste addresses into their browser address bars.  You can further edit properties of links in order to make them trigger off of certain words or open into new windows, etc.

The more useful feature of the "Reply to Message" window is the "Insert/Edit Image" button, which allows you to display images in a message, control their sizing, and even make them into image links.  When using this button with ImageShack, you will want to use the "Direct Link" provided by ImageShack when you uploaded your image there, as this will provide the correct formatting and addressing while avoiding the all the pop-ups, frames, and advertisements associated with the other ImageShack-provided links.

Parisian: Those images of your church look extremely promising. Take as much time as you need to get the textures and lighting perfect. It should be beautiful.

Believe in only what you can prove.

Parisian: follow Odainsaker's little guide and you shouldn't have a problem. Could you make a preview render for us?

Well, I m making a test, but i m facing some problems to join pics to my post... Maybe it's a problem of my computer of something else from me...

Thanks for your advices Odainsaker, i m trying to follow!

I ve upload my cathedral from BAT to LotEditor, like this, you will be able to judge how does it look like for the day render.

But, the main problem remains the nightlighting that I don't know how to realise.

Parisian- It definately looks promising, but you do know you have to model out most of those details right? So far certain areas have the appearance of a "textured-box". And that's alot of details for you to model out there....

Well I know what BAT I really want to work on now for NYBT(WTC7 is on hold)-

22 Cortlandt Street in the Financial District. Long way to go. 3.gif It's going to be a little easier since the back is a blank wall. So a modern W2W building. Interesting...interesting. 9.gif

@ SimFox: You're in Berlin, eh? Believe it or not, I've never been there myself! 18.gif  Well, I hope you'll enjoy your stay! You're travelling around quite a lot, aren't you?

@ SgtPepper: Hm, it should be interesting to see how you'll bring that box to life and make it interesting. Good luck and have fun with it!

AFAIK, he doesn't live there, but I'd better shut up and leave the answer to him. he should know best. 3.gif

"Tacheles" in the Oranienburger Straße, eh? Gotta remember that for a visit to Berlin. 2.gif

Just FYI, everybody - I did some major cleanup on this page in an attempt to re-focus it on the actual thread subject. I edited some posts (including my own) to remove all references to stuff I deleted.

Yeah, you gotta hate when people get off topic, eh?

BTW, today was my last day of school! Yay for me!

Page flip, can we call it the rage flip too, in honor of the Great Todd's rage-iness?

Speaking of Todd, I see you finally got that CML! If I remember correctly, you were slapped with a trout the first time you asked.

I like trout.

But back on topic, I'm trying to get these BATs done. On to the BATs!

twobridges3.jpg

Comments, anyone? How's the nightlighting?

I don't have much to say...

St Patrick's Cathedral is lookin' mighty fine.

Seraf: Welcome back!

Brandon: Sparatic Building Creation FTW! Let's not try and get too out of hand, though. Once you present something, people will expect you to finish it. And that sucks.

Everyone: I'm going to around so much from now on, you're going to be sick of me! Or amused! But probably the former! Have a great summer! Why am I yelling!? Et cetera!

Looking good folks!

JTF: I didn't get slapped with a trout because I asked for a CML:

All the cool kids were doing it.

As for your lovely houses, I think they are just about ready. I think the pink bricks could still use a little refining (as not to look so salmon~y), but that is nit picking at this point. The fire escapes looks much better.

Brandon: Coming along! When you start asking for advice on things, give us nice HQ renders, the LQ really isn't useful especially when you start textures.  I think my BSP tag is a lot more relevant then a reference to my raging-mad soviet alter ego, but that is just me. 17.gif

In soviet Russia, CML wear you!

Jumpthefence - I think I'd put some little omni in ground floor to some of these buildings. But still looks great now 44.gif

Sgt Pepper - Well, 22 Cortlandt Street looks promising, judging from what can be seen for now. I'm waiting for more 2.gif

Parisian - You're lucky! 9.gif

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

EDIT:

Look what Aaron found for me!9.gif One of my oldie BATs. I'm going to re-mod and re-lot it, for NYBT(since it's based on 85 West Street and is almost an exact recreation). So 85 West Street will return.

Yes, but in Soviet Russia, trout is slapped by you!

All facts about Soviet Russia aside, what do you think of the townhouses? Can I export them as is?

Speaking of townhouses... I can't do any more of them! Too... many... townhouses!46.gif

But really, I feel like doing something other than townhouses. I've been at it since November (?) and I feel like a one-track mind. If anyone wants to suggest something, I'm open to ideas until the Two Bridges pack gets uploaded. The only restriction I have is that tall (or especially large) buildings make my computer, as well as myself sick-y. Vertigo is fun! I'm going to have a cutoff at 30 stories/120 meters or so. Ideas?

In the meantime, I'm working on this fictional compound for a City Journal of sorts. It's not in New York City, actually, or anywhere for that matter. But don't actually expect a City Journal at all. As it says in my profile, I'm not going to make a City Journal, now get out of my profile. Does that make any sense? Forget it, just comment on the model.

conceptpiece6242010.jpg

It's the McGraw-Pharmaceutical-Chemicals-and-the-such-Plant!

It still needs roof junk on everything except the run tower, as well as something inside the warehouse (I was thinking about wares in there). Otherwise, it's pretty close to finished. Unless there are ideas to improve upon it.

BTW, I'm pretty darn proud of those Fords parked on the grounds. The first time I tried to make a truck was the definition of "utter failure", but I did it!

And this whole thing was done over the last two days! Yay me! Take that, logical calendar!

Alright, I think that covers everything.

Everyone have a great Friday everyone! ...Although for some of you, it's already Friday! 47.gif Time zones ZOMG!!1!

What kind of time zone do you live in if it's Friday??????? It's Thursday in Sweeeeeeeet Home Louizianna! 9.gif

Nice BAT BTW...I'll definately download some more industry like that! I think the Russian Bear will let you release those models of those town houses or whatever as is now, I like them and they look perfect. If you need an idea for another BAT, try going to Google Earth for New York and find something. If you want something specific, you could do 10 Hanover Square. It's about 20 stories tall and its next to 77 Water Street.

EDIT: GuerrilaWarfare- Well most of all my NYBT are re-released now(85 West soon) except the model the AB&C Long Lines I did that was based on 33 Thomas Street but I don't really think that one is worth re-release.
