Vlad: pardon me my ignorance , but what is LASIC?

MG: Thanks my friend to put my mind at ease!44.gif

I will really appreciate if, all of you who are regularly following this tread, to give me your impressions about the general proportions of the entire bdg ( correct/not correct and if not correct what looks wrong) Thanks a lot for your active participation44.gif

@ Amthaak : for starters, I was wrong, it's not LASIC, it's LASIK. It's an operation of which uses laser to correct sight. Here it costs about 1 000 euros as I heard. And u get to recover in a day and have a perfect vision.

    Here's more about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LASIK

as for the building, heliport is so detailed and so good looking, it's so realistic, that's unrealistic 9.gif

Oh my goodness, that helipad looks incredibly realistic! You're being so attentive to the every single smallest details!

Ahhh sorry Amthaak, I've been really busy lately IRL and haven't had the time to do a lot of the things I normally like to do around ST. Unfortunately commenting on your BAT thread has been one of them.

Can I just say that this is looking beyond amazing. The details!! It's some of the best work I've ever seen!

There are currently only two things on the entire model that are bugging me:

    1) The blue slab outside the front entrance. Unless you actually plan to model all the detail in that area and incorporate it into the actual SC4Model, I'd just leave that area for lotting and let the base textures cover it.

    2) The pink tiled texture on the lower roof. I know I have said this before, but in contrast to how awesome that wooden texture looks, it seems dull and lifeless. I'd replace it with a better, more contrasting texture.

Keep this up and you'll have BAT of the year!

Vlad: 1000 euro is a lot of money but, to recover a good sight it has to be seriously considered. Personnally, my sight (which was very good) is getting worse and worse. Here, the cost for a similar operation is 2000 euro PER EYE!26.gif

Thanks for your comment about the heliport, I hope it's close to reality! There is not so much pic of this part of the bdg! Fortunatly, Hong Kong find a very good one which help me a lot. ( Hong Kong, si tu m'entends, MERCI...!44.gif)

ZGMF-X88S: (good name, easy to remenber!9.gif) thanks for visting my bat thread, glad you like it!

Roger51: I knew a guy who have the same name (51) his first name was Pastis 17.gif

Dear friend , I am afraid that you 'll have to wait a little more ( 1 or 2 month...!)

Simbourgeois, maire de Belleville, cher ami, et encore ... tu n'a pas vu la piscine interieure!19.gif

Cockatoo: Okay coach9.gif, very pertinent remark I didn't forget about the pinke tiled, it was just "postponed", I am working again on the old bat (back side), I replace the pink tiled by wood (same as the central part)

About the entrance I am seriously considering to bat the 2 lateral underground parking car entrances and , of course the cental fountain!  I will get like that some water reflection with the bdg . What's your opinion?

Oohhh that is looking much better. I think modelling the underground car parks and the fountain is a very good idea, the last time you worked with water the results were fantastic.

Are we almost ready for the night-lighting? *my favourite part* Go to Google Earth, turn on 360 Cities under the gallery layer and check out the one right near the front of the Peninsular if you haven't already. It should help you when you're doing the night-lighting, especially for the base.

I was really thinking that you will like the wooden texture in replacement of the pink tiled. Water relection is really interesting!

This, my friend, is 20% mindblowing and 80% awesome. And the level of detail is simply insane. 46.gif

I hope you keep regular backups on an external medium!

Oh, I would like to take a day off and spend it near that wonderful swimming pool!
That picture is just amazing! It's such a pity that we woun't be able to see it all in SC4...
    Incredible work, indeed!

T Wrecks: No....I....did'nt have an external back up!!!!! and the worst is that I got a virus attack last sunday....I had to bring my computer to the "specialist" (cost me 20 euro for nothing, cause he did'nt repare it...and I had to do the job myself... Thanks Kaspersky44.gif.) IMAGINE THE GUY CALLING ME and telling me that he had to to format my hard drive11.gif

And... who send me a message... YOU MY FRIEND, I don't beleive in coincidence (I am quite determinist, not fatalist just determinist...!). 3.gif

OK Roger, the rest of the ... fontain!9.gif, the shape is not correct, sorry guys, just concentrate on water...44.gif

SimFox: AAAAAHHHHHHH! ENFIN! I was desperatly waiting for your (always) pertinent comments! If you can spend 30 seconds more to comment the general aspect of the Bdg (but "texturing"....!) it will be more than appreciated44.gif

BTW: Sorry if I don't comment so much your actual batting work (details of the restaurant just amazing, can't wait for "texturing"), due to vocabulary limitation, just telling you than I am spechless which is quite useless in term of helping you for hypothetical ameliorations .3.gif

PS: I hope you well received the lions19.gif, if not just PM I will resend to you!44.gif

Well... I specially wanted to comment on your and Heblem use of particle systems to create falling water.

I've used it once in BAT, long time ago in fountain at Lippo. Yet I think you two went farther. And I particularly like the way you did it. I think it is a very important. And it has ramification for other things you and just about anyone else do with BATs.

Many years ago I was standing in front of one of the Monet (at least i think it was Monet) paintings in either London, or Paris (don't remember which city exactly, but it is important that it is one of those, since I don't leave there and they both have such a major distractions from actually going to museums - it is very difficult to drag oneself out after long nights partying, you know)... Yet I did. I may have had not the clearest head that day too... So, I've found myself in front of this impressionist paining. And I saw a horse drawn carriage on it. It wasn't the main subject... no, just an element in lower part of the canvas. But it looked so incredibly real, alive... I stepped closer (say from 3-4 meters to about 30-40cm) and it disappeared... All there was is just a couple of quick brush stokes on the canvas. I stepped away and carriage appeared again.

I told this story to illustrate an approach that is important in batting and that you and Heblem used quite well in your falling water models. Better than me back when I made Lippo fountains... At closer look it just bunch of flying triangles... but step away and there it is - an incredibly real fountain. This is very important. It has to look real, feel real. But it doesn't need to be REAL. There is no need to model every drop in absolutely accurate way. In fact, if you will, it most likely wouldn't look as believable. Same principle should apply to making other elements on the building. I know everyone here just singing Hallelujah with all the "details" praising. But I think overall feel is more, far more important. And I think you sometimes get really distracted by doing something that will NOT be seen when looked from the vantage point of the game. After all it is going to be a game asset. This doesn't mean that you should limit your development. God forbid! But if you interested to do some realistic architectural modeling you should go ahead, you clearly have a knack for it.

However, what you tent to do a lot, is neither here no there. It will not be seen in game, at least it will not be perceived the way you intend, and it doesn't really cut the mustard at close look - for instance take a look at the that pool scene you've posted the scale for one, is completely out of whack. You main measuring stick (easily and instinctively recognizable) there is hight of the step. Now, comparer it to the other elements, say to chairs. Also look at the relative height of the chairs and parasols. If person to stand up the parasol will be at the level of the chin.... And while at it you create (place in scene) tons of what is essentially useless geometry and effectively corner yourself into memory issues when you'll try to export it. Also you get distracted from the main goal... For instance those annoying black spots on the shop's green sunshades (caused most probably by coplanars) are still there (btw this is just one example of the problem - there others in this model). So, I hope, you understand what I'm trying to say here. Also beware of the silver tongued commentators ;-)

You do a fantastic job here, I just believe you could do better... or more ....

So what I would like you to do, and incidentally what I believe will be good for this project is to stay away from doing all the minute details, but keep an eye on a large, as seen in game zoom levels, picture. For instance instead of making interiors you should take a time to unwrap the facade walls to created localized and targeted stains etc - thing that will actually be seen and will affect the look of the building. Stay at Zoom5 previews. Fight temptation to do "hd" or close perspective renders. Those just lead you astray.

Dear SimFox, impressionism is really incredible! and the funny thing I also use the same method I used for the the falling water, for the bushes...!

That really saves a lot in terms of memory! the scene is only 1.5 Mb

    fontaine04.jpg

In fact I use the snow which give better result than water itself, then I just put the adapted texture same as glass but with a different IR and I play with transparancy. For the bush I just use a multi/sub-object with different tones of green and brown, I am sure that, by adding some red or blue I 'll get flowering bushes!

To come back to your following comments, I of course agree completly with it. Chineese says that the wise man is the one who knows his limits, and , as a novice and new in batting I don't know the limits (yet...?!) I am more making tests and by the comments, step by step, I can see what is right and what is wrong, and I thank you to tell me that is wrong. Don't worry the day I'll release it it will be close to perfect, if not perfect, then work again until it is!

BTW, I don't use anymore the HD (at least when I render the entire Bdg, Too big...9.gif)

PS: It's amazing how many things you can write in 30 seconds 9.gif, It took me nearly 20 minutes to write these 10 lines...
