SC Mafia:

Um, er, well. My goodness I do not not understand those instructions. But then my Reader is beyond my comprehension.

When it opens I get a Fail to open message (water supply) When I click on fill list nothing happens.

I do not know where to locate that DAT file, and the rest is pretty much greek to me.

Is it possible to make a plugin or something that can be used by us computer idiots who only know point and click and how to really mess up a program if push comes to shove????

I understand that the Rain water will not save on game exiting. But having that ability is still desired by me.

Thanks and Cheers.

well i might as well use this as my first post since I haven't seen anyone bring this up yet. I was playing sc4 a week or so back and i saw one of those "nonsense" messages in the news ticker thing that was kind of interesting. It said something to the effect of "'s weather deemed boring. Rain and thunder to be imported". I can't remember exactly what it said but that's basically what it said. So I would say these tools would most likely be in another EP that does import things like rain and other weather. Combine that with the different terrains and you got a logical EP.

In order for them to make an expansion pack, they need more than just new terrains and weather.  I wonder what else will be added...I know!  Maybe an Asian tileset!  6.gif

you people keep saying there is a modd for it.....but there isnt
the only way to do it as far as i can tell is to follow complicated steps in the reader, which i do not have and if i ever did get would be far beyond my comprehension.
so can someone just make a downloadable thing that unlocks it?!?!?!
thanks

Thought I'd take a look at this dat file for you. As far as the Exemplar file goes, it looks just fine. What you need to do though is; use the Rebuild Directory File function, & then use the ReIndex function. This will create a Directory file; most [not all though] dat files/plugins need this Directory file [it just depends really]. Do this and it should then appear in the games menu. I would however, strongly suggest that you change the Instance ID of the Exemplar file, otherwise you'll get this item appearing twice in the menu [change the Instance ID of the Exemplar [make sure it's unique], & then you'll have to Rebuild Directory File & ReIndex again]. Hope this helps.......

Don't count on that happening. Something like this would most likely be defined in the EXE [the application]. To make this possible for SC4, would most likely involve touching the EXE, something which is not allowed.

I found out a way to fill in the whole city with rain water so that it looks like you have an ocean. First, you make a mountain that reaches to a point where SC4 can't take in any more altitude. Once it reaches that point, you make sure that the summit is flat. Then you hold down shift on the keyboard and press the left mouse button while holding shift on the summit. Once you do that, you should have a city under water. I don't have any photos of this as proof, though.

Yeah. I was thinking... Yes, this is available for download, over at http://www.teirusu.net/ . (I gave that link because he has other nice mods there too - various terrain modds can be found there, for example).

Oh and please, people leave this thread alone. It's old. Very old. I can remember when this happened (I had only been a member for about a month.

Just keep in mind if you do download it, that the water changes made by the rain tool won't save.

I'm happy to see cool things like this hides behind the curtains in SC4. I'm already overly impressed by the additions of Rush Hour, the Lot Editor and now the BAT. If EA decides that these features belong in a XP-pack, I will buy it. The guys deserve the bucks. Besides, what fun is it to have all the good stuff in one go? Spread it out, I am still exploring the fun in RH and trying all sorts of lots and BAT stuff. Don't eat all the candy in one day I say .)

It apears that the the new tools were taken out of the game in the last moment.
In my dutch version of simcity the new tool has its own icon an dutch explaination of what the tool does.
They probably translate the game short for release. So that might mean that it was planned for the release of rush hour. I have did some expirimenting myself and have now made polder, a small city below the water level. You can find it Here
