I am really getting cheesed of about those that are winging about not wanting to spend money upgrading to play the game. Firstly I understand that SC4 was tooooo much. But CXL should be like every other game and be built to the specs of the average computer. ATM I believe that to be a Core2 and 2Gb of RAM. to be on the safe side I would expect it to run on a 2Ghz+ 1GbRAM and 256Mb Video nVidia 7000 series and higher. But for christs sakes, if the game needs a better video card then buy one and play it or piss off. Its like saying I like the new electric cars but I don't want to have to buy a new car to get it, why can't I just pour electricity in my tank???... Software will always get bigger and require more grunt. Deal with it.

I hope they build a 64bit version. And before anyone rants and raves about being no benifit to 64bit etc. A 32bit program can only access a maximum of 2048MB RAM. A 64bit app can use terabytes worth of ram. These days (i work with coputers) memory prices are dropping so much its not uncommen to find 4Gb+ systems, and over the last few months I have been setting up 64Bit Vista and I must say it is very solid and stable. Taking full advantage of a 64bit vista multi proccessor system will be great. I do find it very anoying how most game developers try to make the game run on whats popular without giving the game the ability to improve on us hardcore guys with massive rigs. SC4 for example runs ok on an average system runs great on a Core 2 3GbRAM system, but thats it. thats the ceiling. It won't fully utilise more than 2Gb RAM due to being 32bit and does not utilise a quad or 6 core system.

Imagine what SimCity 5 would be like if it supports PhysX Cards
eangulus replied to eangulus's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I think it could help elieviate the strain SimCity would have on a CPU especially when the city gets large. Allot of the physical natre of the game can be left to the PhysX card to do and they could even add more to it. For example having itcalculate the effects of running water so we can have real surface water. Maybe even natural weather changes such. -

Just wondering what you all would imagine SimCity 5 would be like if it supports PhysX? Let your imaginations run wild... EDIT: For those who don't know what a PhysX card is it is a CPU dedicated in doing the huge number of calculations needed to work out the physical aspects that objects have on each other of a virtual world. For more details just google 'PhysX' -
Is this now officially a dead mod? I hope it isn't...

Firstly I have only RECENTLY come across this mod. Secondly, this is the only thread that I found that was regarding this mod. Thridly I have tried to contact the author and I have yet to get a reply. And forth if I were to start a new thread you guys would have just said to post here, stop doubling up threads etc etc.... So tell me, I wanted more info and maybe some adjustments made to this mod. Tell me of another way I could have done that that wouldn't have upset you Zedic. And just to top things of, is there anyone that help regarding my original question?

anyone help in modifying this mod please?

Whats is the progress of this mod? Not trying to sound pushy but rather just wondering were its upto. Has anyone started making functional puzzle peices? Just a thought too... what about making a puzzle peice that sends the tram under the roads/avanues? And maybe a Light Rail to Subway and/or EL Rail? I know its early to ask for things like that when its not even ready yet but before I forget I gathered I'd post..

I would love to see more work done on this mod. I tried it out and love the way it smoothes out the slopes. What I didn't like personally was how slight the slope was for rail. It makes building the rail very very hard. I tried to zig zag up a hill but you need to make it very long to get green and it then doesn't look too real. Even thou the rail slopes might be realistic I would love to see some variations of the mod with some more sligthly relaxed conditions. I like the smoothing and not having any sharp slope changes but I would like the rail at least to be a tad more easier to lay. If it can be done I would like to see something that lets you create a zig zag up the hill. It would only be a variations of the slope mod where you can then have slightly steeper runs and also shorter runs are allowed to be layed.

I would like to see a one way elevaed and ground highway made. Putting 2 side by side would be a smaller multilane highway and also cheaper and easier to build. Also adding in some onramps to suit that style (unless the sigle sided on ramps are enough...).

Can someone send me a sample bitmap. I need to know how wide to make the tracks etc.
-
Is it possible for someone to make a one way highway (ground and elevated). This would make it easier to make multi lane highways (and smaller than the current method) and then also some onramps to suit a oneway and 2 oneways side by side?

Everyone here is asking for help to get this mod going. Why is it that I offer my services and no-one replies? Looks like this mod is finally dead then. Pitty, it would have been awsome. If it isn't then why is it taking so long? other than getting the textures it should be as simple as to making the set as a NAM puzzle peice. Tab should cycle thru the single track, over other transport (roads etc) and also the stations. Very simple to make in theory at least
