  1. Downloaded buildings won't grow?

Caps are quite easy to break, and to be honest I never even think about them when building a city. The key is just not to try and build a replica manhattan in every city you build. For every huge metropolis, you need a few surrounding towns filled with low-medium denisty tiles. Otherwise, you are going to hit cap and demand issues very often. If it is a cap issue, mosse is correct with the idea that parks/civic buildings etc help cap. But, it simply could be an issue of randomness. If you, for example, are trying to get a downlodable 4X4 building to construct..well, there are a good amount of other 4x4 buildings that can be generated too. Perhaps try deleting every building that constructs in that tile space until you get the one you want? I'm not sure if you are trying to get stage 8 or stage 1 buildings to grow, but if they are stage 8, then I would think your city could handle the relatively low cost of deleting a couple buildings. Beyond that, make sure you have the Growable.dat plugin with each building you downloaded. Check to see if these buildings are also avaliable as a landmark..not all downloadable buildings are avaliable as both growable/landmarks, but if none of the buildings you downloaded are, then perhaps you only downloaded the .dat file. As far as I know, dependencies shouldn't matter. The building would construct, but you would just see a lovely giant brown box.
  2. Man it must take a whole day to load that city.. anyhow nice work! Also, years ago I use to have the Census Repository. But somehow it's gone, and now I can't find it on STEX. Where did you download it from?
  3. My, how we've changed

Yes I have. For me, it's gotten to a point where I'd spend 3 or 4 hours online when to me it only felt like I've been on for 15 minutes This x2. Time was never even something I thought about when I was young, except for maybe "crap I am going back to school in a week!" But now-a-days, two weeks feels like two days, and time is something consistently pushing against you. I miss the innocence, and obliviousness that came with youth, but at the same time I enjoy the freedoms I have now.
  4. My, how we've changed

I use to have more posts than pretty much anybody . At least I still got my 2003 award to look back at! But you are right, it is a matter of growing up and moving on. The only time I ever visit this place is when I start playing simcity again for fun(yes which I am doing now) But very soon I most likely won't have the time for it again. As much as I loved being a teenager, It's time to move on for me.
  5. My, how we've changed

I can sort of see what you are saying. I think it has to do with the fact that there are seemingly a lot more people her now, and most of the people from way back when are inactive and don't really post anymore. I have to say, I hardly ever come around this place, but when I do I'm still impressed with how positive the community is. No matter what, this seems like both a friendly a fun board to post on.
  6. How Do You Start Your Cities?

I start off with low density zoning, no water or any other commodities. I then expand out. Overtime, I will begin to lay down water pipes, and then eventually I will offer education, hospitals, etc. Once the map is practically filled, I then begin building up. It's a hassle, and takes some time, but I usually notice good results with this, and at the same time I receive a healthy sum of cash to fund my city when it is growing larger.

  8. The Leaving / Returning Thread

I decided to return, even though it probably won't be for long. Maybe somebody here might even remember me!
  9. Necessity of Highways

I usually have highways in my cities, but i kind of noticed that usually they aren't worth the cost. Personally, i think subways are the best method of transportation. They cost a good amount of money but more people seem to take advantage of them than the highways.
  10. Post Your Picture Here!

Wow!, i was the first person to ever post in this thread; and i refused to put a picture up lol. Lots of great picture in here, too bad i can't go through all 156 pages!!
  11. The Leaving / Returning Thread

Well, i haven't posted here much lately, and i haven't made a post in awhile. So i thought i would say hi; and since im most likely not going to be back for awhile, this is also goodbye! Im bored, so i just felt like posting something. But i think it has some relativity to the topic!

  14. The Leaving / Returning Thread

Hey guys, hardly remmber me, right? Well, i will ago i was hoppin to make a comeback and start postin again, but i relized that time has just not worked against me, so toady i decided that i would say my FINAL goodbye, meaning i will never return to the site again, it was not a decision i wanted to make, but it is wone i have to make. And as i have come back after a long absence to say my goodbye, i must congrate everybody{esspecially Dirk} for even though having nearly 50,000 people, keeping the site fast, organized and clean, and i am shocked to still se the great politness and info that was around when i was on the boards. But i know that half of you are wondering who i am,a nd i msut admit, i don't even know who half of you are. But it is still nice to see that the older people from the very begging of this site have not let time interfere with there chatting on here like it has done to me. So good job. Finnaly, i would like to say thank you to everybody for continuing this site and making it one of the best ones ever. And thanks for making this a great time while i was on this site, and thanks for all the hospitality you gave me way back to when i was a $%&^!. So, this is my last post I would like to see you all anothet time, but i doubt that will be possible, so goodbye to everybody, and thanks for making this one of the greatest times i ever had Thank you!
