Started with blade2k5's Somewhere In the World #6 back in 2010, then decided to splice it together with #7 for fun a couple years back. Current population is ~7.2 million. For some reason Region Census cut off the lower left hand corner.

I love both those maps, and i love what you've done with them.  :thumb:

funfact: a lot of those SWITW maps of blade's are of parts of alaska.  here.

Wonderful region! Great work with the trees, how'd you do those?

With the

I carefully painted trees along the edge of every beach and then filled in the rest of the terrain, keeping the beaches (mostly) empty.

i don't have anything interesting to put here
check out the tree shoppe, i made it

Howdy guys, I learned how to make animated GIF's, this is my first one:

b653a3fc03.gif

Click here for full-size. (large file)

-

About the trees, let me share my method for quick-planting. Most credit goes to Vortext for teaching me.

You need Standalone Flora Brush which turns your god mode tree brush into a massive circle that can cover your whole tile.

Then you need to activate ClickLock in your mouse settings. Google can help you if you don't know how : )

Now, with those two things ready, open a city tile, zoom all the way out and center your mouse in the middle of the tile, then click and hold down the click for a couple of seconds.

Now release the click, and ALT-TAB away to another window. Now you can continue working on whatever else you are doing, or browsing the internet, or go make some coffee, etc.

After a few minutes, ALT-TAB back, click once to unlock the click, save and exit to region (remember to keep focus on Simcity 4 until it has exited to region or you'll get a flat green tile in region view.)

Rinse and repeat for every tile, once done, remember to de-activate ClickLock as it is annoying as hell.

Enjoy : )

Skew the image by 33 degrees, rotate by 12.5 and then resize as you see fit. :3

Very nice regional seasonal gif TPB! You might want to add cross-fades in between seasons but I'm nitpicking really, it's awesome!  :thumb:

And while I'm here, might as well show the current views of my region. Just passed the one year mark of RCI development and the population is a mere 17k.

Click pictures to see full size, opens in new tab.

*snip*

Cross-fading?! Yes please! I'll start Googling right away sir.

That road network's gotta be the most realistic looking I have seen yet!

Probably my all-time favorite map. I could stare at it for hours. Really great job with that.

This is the region of Garton so far. Garton Island filled and more rural sprawl just waiting to happen!

Feel free to click the link in my sig to check out more of the CJ surrounding the region.

Cheers

Hey SimEMS38, nice to see what you're doing with that map so far. I like seeing it rendered differently. What terrain mod are you using? Is it Pyrenean? Looks good man, especially in that last pic. Cascadia TC is looking good too; it seems to be the one that works best for me as well. Thanks for posting those pics. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you continue to come up with.

Thanks Panerai1 and thank you for caving in and uploading the map! I'm using Lowkee's Appalachian Terrain Mod, Loch Lomond Water Mod from Gobias at SC4D, SHK HD Rock Mod #3, and the River Beach Mod by _marsh_.

Yes I'm digging Blunders Cascadia TC mod, I can't believe I missed that when it was released!

I took the weekend off from it and pretty much drooled non stop on all the lets play streams of C:SL, I'll be starting back up on it sometime this week though.

Been working on this region on and off for about 10 years.  Actually had a setback on my old Windows machine back in 2005 where the computer shut itself down while I was saving and the main city tile would no longer load and I had to start it over.  Made me quit playing the game for a good 6 months because I was so upset.   M6XOBnXl.jpg fnHX6ebl.jpg

how do you take a picture of the region?

You can do a normal 'Printscreen', with the dedicated button on your keyboard. Or you can use an application called 'Region Census' to make a picture of your whole region.

Nice! I like when farms aren't just sqares next to another and another for kilometers. :)

I agree! It takes forever for me to paint MMPs. I tend to go full-on detail on one tiny section, it takes forever and rarely give the same effort for the rest of the rivers! :P

Hey there! To give a little background history, I have started this region since February, and ever since it was born, it has gone through many terrain and landscaping revisions ever since. At this state, I am (mostly) happy with the way it is coming along so far. However, I am still planning where to put my city location... and it's gonna be a small one, that's for sure!

*snip*

Nice region! I don't know why but I could never get away from the rectangular fields, I really like what you've done with yours.

Thanks antsel!  It is really just thinking about the shapes in an organic fashion, as if the farms expanded in different directions with varying degrees of expansion. I also try not to make them too big, otherwise it'll look ugly and it is inefficient/wasteful in terms of zoning costs and tax income.:(

Come see my City Journal here: *:)

A small side-project I'm working on. The region is called Akalla (yes, like the Stockholm suburb) and it has 523.000 inhabitants at the moment.
