And who wouldn't want to live in a green leafy area with wide open spaces and reduced traffic noise.  *  I think it's a good look, @matias93.

I've got a slightly different set of experiments in my Brownsville, seeing what 1x1 street stubs can do for industrial zones right alongside a RHW-2.  I've also been experimenting with SAM-1 (carpark streets) lately, and 1x1 plops of SAM-1 streets look quite good.  I wonder if you'd like them for your city, too?

That is, if you do the NAM?

This amounts to an experiment: I'm trying to get high residential densities without dilapidation, and knowing that traffic affects negatively the quality of residential lots, I guessed: what if we buffered the traffic?

So there it is, sandwiched between the lots and the road, a row of grass lots with dedicated street stumps for access. Up to this moment, I've been seeing good results, specially when sprinking some trees in there.

Here it is in SimCity_1.dat in case y'all are curious:

One minute! Did it always exist in the game and have I never seen it going around the city? :O

Tis always been there in the .dat file, but unused in the release copy of the game.

Based on some code reading, intuition, and logical theorizing, the subway tubes were originally built slowly just like above ground roads and rails and such. The tunneler is what would lead the construction crew for said subway routes. I suspect during beta testing everyone complained about the slow construction since there's nothing else to do or watch when underground so Maxis did a quick edit on the .exe side and made the subway tubes build the instant they are drawn. And ever since that tunneler has been sitting lost in the .dat file collecting electronic dust.

This is still one of my favorite creations -

At the south edge of all the lead tracks that go into the huge central railway station complex there is a set of tracks that has broken off to drop down and pass under the station so trains can cross over to the eastern side of the city.  As the bullet train leaves its station it too has to tunnel under the valuable reclaimed commercial real estate to continue to the airport and points east...

I have begun going back and adding lights to many lots, realizing I neglected lighting early on in the development of this city.  I think it makes a big difference!
