Luna Park Entrance, North Sydney, Australia
The famous art deco entrance for one of the few theme parks located within a central business district in the world. First designed by Rupert Browne, and opened in 1935, this version of the design was painted for 1973 by Peter Kingston and Martin Sharp. There's also the infamous fire that happened in 1979, and Sharp, considered the Antipodean Andy Warhol, was an advocate for the park's reopening (along with Friends Of Luna Park) after the park's many ownership changes and disrepair. Luna Park is now considered an Australian Heritage site (similar to a Historic Place in the US) and the entrance stands as a symbol of the park and the city's resilience.
