About This File

KVB Hotel, by Mattb325.
---------------------------------------

Inspired by the KBC building in Gent, I drew the inspiration for this model from the 'KVB Building' that was released by Btwist for Cities: Skylines (even though I don't play C:S, the dramatic shapes of the building caught my eye).....and turned it into a hotel.

Neither my version nor the C:S version is an exact replica of the real building, but both are fairly representative of the dramatic architecture.

The alterations I have made to the real-life building enable it to occupy a 3x3 high density zone and it will help soak up the endless CS§§§ demand that seems to exist in SC4 by providing 385 high-wealth jobs.

The KVB hotel has 22 floors and an interesting angled arrangement of the main mechanical area in the roof, the rooftop pool area, and of course the large diagonal opening which appears to allow the smaller cantilevered section to hang from the building.

Another large box it may be, but at least there is an interesting arrangement of angular shapes to break the monotony of a typical downtown space.

The building is a growable high-wealth commercial services offering on all tilesets. It is suitable for CAM and non-CAM cities alike.

Use Buggis extra cheats if you wish to make this building (and indeed all other buildings in your plugins) ploppable via a drop down menu.

NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE:

There are two model files in this download. You must select the appropriate file from the download. The file suffixed with 'DN' is for those users with a night-time darkening mod installed. The file suffixed with 'MN' is for users who do not have any such mods installed.

If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version.

If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/)

Thank you so much for all the awesome work! Love when it says no dependencies because I play on a mac and it won't let me install most of them, so Im left with black  patches where textures should be.

This might be a bit odd, but my favorite part of Mattb325's eye-catching design is the playful angles between the concrete planters (lushly planted as well!) and the building's dramatically sharp crown and facade. The whole effect comes off like a knife blade glinting from its sheath, enhanced greatly by Matt's quality texturing.

A stunning visual presentation and a welcome addition to dense commercial corridors. 5/5!

The geometry is fantastic. The diagonal glass feature makes it look like the left side is about to slide off - like the leading edge of a glacier. I love this.
