About This File

This 3-lot complex is based around various shopping complexes anchored by Target. Most of these centers where I took inspiration from were built between 2006-2010. My goal was to get a bunch of higher brand stores all together as most are found this way in real life.

 

1136 jobs with all three lots used.

I want to also thank @kingofsimcity for assistance with the making of new SHK textures. Without them this lot wouldn't be possible.

I keep getting a brown box in the centre lot, right by the road which suggests a missing building file? I have all dependacies downloaded and installed, yet still get that one brown box

Do you have Chase Bank downloaded? I forgot to list that as a dependency.

thanks! please tell me, how to make a road inside the lot? In a Lot Editor I see - add 'water', add 'land' ... but not 'road'...

This requires the SC4 Tool program to do.

Awesome! Was also missing the chase bank dependency, but sorted now :)

It doesn't? I thought I made it so it does. I honestly usually put things on default landmark status thinking jobs will come with it. I honestly don't fully understand how the technical side of this game works. Feel free to modify the settings to make it have jobs if you know how.

I don't have a clue, might be worth starting a thread of your own about it and getting some advice from the more experienced users.. Cs$$ jobs and darknite lighting these would be top notch lots, they look fantastic otherwise....

I actually do have a development thread.

No one has really said much in regards to how this would be done. The only way I know off the top of my head to guarantee jobs i making things growable and something like this woud not work for this massive lot.

Wow this has to be the best work I've seen on here since SimGoober!  Your Target fits into any city with or without the rest of the shopping center.  The realism is at the very least the highest quality compared to other users, if not unsurpassed!  Your contributions to Simtropolis are greatly appreciated!

Do you have the Target store in a seperate file?  It felt better to have that so I can create my own shopping center with a Lowes, a Giant food store, and that store.  I'm basing Milfordstown based off three retail stores based off from Reading, PA

If you just want Target, you need the Target model file and Simtropolis Shops left lot file. You can edit the lot to suit your personal needs.

I wonder if you plan to create props for any specific stores.  There are plenty of stores I could use from this file to create my current project if I'm being honest.  

The Target and Giant are separate entities as I could create a small strip mall for the following stores:

Michaels Arts and Crafts

Five Below

Famous Footwear

Mattress Firm

Ross Dress For Less

Petco

While I see your point about customization, it is not as a big of priority for me as they do now exist in game. The whole point of this plaza was to get brands together as most are found in real life. It is possible I may visit some standalone versions of various brands but I can not say for sure if or when that would be.

Hi, hope I'm not getting a bit annoying lol. I've just been on a massive downloading spree. However, I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong to where Chick-Fil-A and the banks aren't showing up:

I made sure to install the Kevdan BSC pack and download the bank (and it shows up on its standalone lot). But when I plop this shopping center together that happens. A little confusing.

Really odd. It maybe on your end? I've had no issues myself.

Try opening up the lot editor and adding them (props) to the lots in yourself.

Well I added them (and the missing Chick-Fil-A signs via Pim-X and that seemed to do the trick. It is weird because it showed the original props as being there but it wouldn't physically show them. The dependencies list also showed no missing props. Odd. But now that it looks right I'm enjoying this lot a lot. *:thumb:

There are missing dependencies from the list. @RRetail

  1. You used the props from the NOS.17 Essentials for the kevdan's Chick-Fil-A, and also for the diagonal timed SHK car props.
  2. Also you've used the Mushy truck props/families from the KOSC Trucking Essentials.
  3. The bank prop is not showing up for most of us, because you've included the "wrong", I mean a different chase bank prop into the Chase Bank upload, and NOT the one, what you've used for this megalot. You forgot to include this exact prop file into this megalot: RR Chase Bank-0x6534284a-0x27d79b48-0x7997dcf4.SC4Desc 
    For myself I changed the prop to the one what is provided in the Chase Bank upload. 
  4. You've used a grass texture on all of the lots, which is specifically just in the Gobias terrain mod textures (In my case, I found that missing texture in the Sudden Valley Texture pack, I guess with the same IID a variation of this texture can be found in other terrain mods.). Instead I would recommend you to use this original maxis texture, which is actually perfectly matching with the grass parking overlays from the KOSC or from your parkin texture set. Also the Gobias Terrain mod and MGB's texture override will have an effect on this texture too, so you still will get unified textures. The grass IID what you need to look for is this: 0x252b2000. Easiest way if you keep the Gobias textures in your plugin for now (these will override many of the maxis ones), check those grass base textures and simply replace them by this one. NOTE: since the Gobias terrain mod textures are overwriting this texture too, at first it won't match with the parking grass textures, BUT 2 things you should keep in mind: 
  • the maxis originals (without the gobias mods) will match with the parking grass, so those, who are NOT using the gobias terrain mods, will have matching grass in any case. 
  • those who are using the gobias terrain mods, have an option to download MGB204-KOSC's SuperSHK+ MEGA Parking for TGN-SWN mod, which will cover their specific set-up. (in this case the only exceptions, I think, your own additional textures for the SuperSHK set, but I guess with an occasional update of the above mentioned mod, those also can be covered. Plus checking it in game (my prefered set-up is unified Paeng Sandstone and Gobias Sudden Valley), it wasn't that disturbing at all. Some maxis white showed-up, but the grass part altogether was blending in more-or-less nicely.)

And underneat of the building (center lot), you actually don't need this grass texture, use either the pavement or the concrete. Anyhow, I would recommend you to remove any kind of Terrain texture or texture override pack, while you are LOTting. Only exception maybe is CP's SCILT

So these are the additional dependencies, what you should include to the description, also it would be better if you will change the above bolded prop to the one from the Chase bank or include the above bolded prop into this megalot upload, as you did with the Target prop. I would change the base textures too (well I did it for myself), and instead of the Sudden Valley/Gobias texture, use the one what I bolded in #4.

BUT I must say, Man, it is a beautiful and complex work. I love your texture work, what you do with these parking overlays, seems like magic. I'm using them as well, manipulating them, expanding them etc... but you are on a different level. Congrats!

Just for a sidenote. You still need to link the Nos.17 Essentials,  because some of the diagonal SHK cars are coming from that upload and not from the original SHK set.
