About This File

Hello, Here's my first cargo train that I'm releasing for the Real Shipping Container Series. A Union Pacific Cargo Train with various real shipping containers. Most of which I have already released as truck versions. This Train aims to match those first release trucks to make your cities seem even more realistic. For those of you that don't know about the trucks, you can subscribe to them in the collection above.

Asset Information
---------------------------------
Train Engine
Main Model Tris = 4,395
1024x1024 Textures
Lod Tris = 162
256x256 Textures

Flatbed Trailers
Main Model Tris = 1,726
512x1024 Textures
Lod Tris = 178
64x64 Textures
---------------------------------

I created this train using a mod called "Asset Vehicle Editor 0.9.4" which was developed by DontCryJustDie. His mod allows you to make multiple trailers using different cargo crps. That is how I was able to use different shipping container images for the train. There is no need to sub to the mod to use the train though!
You can check out this fantastic mod here.

The Original Engine came from the 3D Warehouse, but I pretty much completely remade everything and used it as a template. Original Model Located Here.

The Flatbed Trailer I found on TF3DM and I used his as a template and remade it to have a lower tri count. Original Model Located Here.

Looks good !! A nice addition to my US cargo train set. An Amtrak train set would be awesome too...

I live in a town where this exact train runs- a half block from the tracks to be exact. This is really awesome.

      Hi Simtropolians,

I'm building my home town, Berlin, with the help of your many mods and assets (I am using 70+ mods and 600+ assets). I started playing Cities:Skylines about 2 months ago and I'm enthused by the activity happening here and in the Steam Workshop. Thank you guys!

I'm endeavoring to add some of my own custom assets to the Workshop, but I'm new to the entire process. I'm good at photoshop, but I suck at Blender! I booted blender for the first time last week, so I'm at the rough end of a steep learning curve. You guys have been very helpful to get me over a few stumbling points. Now I'm getting ready to publish a couple of items and I'd like to run them by you first. I'm trying to start simple, but even simple objectives seem to morph into week-long efforts. Please let me know how my work can be improved.

I've got a Checkpoint Charlie cooking (check my screenshot stream on steam or on twitter, if you're interested), but let's start with the Rosinenbomber from the Deutsches Technikmuseum:

I found a DC-3 model by Giovanni E and lifted it to the top of the stock library with some prop anarchy:

I was happy to find a DC-3, but the model has some texture problems (the illumination map is always fully on) because it's an old model and was probably made before After Dark. In wanting to fix the lighting problem, I wound up re-texturing the entire model to specifically be the famous Berlin C-47 "Rosinenbomber," as well as adding some propellers.

It's starting to look decent in-game, but I still have some shadowing issues that I'm working on around the windows.

I'd like to improve the body texture so that it looks more silvery and less white in the sun (I'm using PhotoReal3 LUT and Daylight Classic mods).

Here are my current diffuse and spec maps:

How would I go about improving the look of the body surface? I'd like it to be more shiny and silvery.

My next question is, what is a good approach to make the LOD model?

Thx for looking & thx in advance for your suggestions.
      -Ami

      Hi all,
I am working on a project to create a set of custom station tracks (custom rails and catenary) which can be used ingame with Touch This mod to replace vanilla station tracks.
Thus far I have managed to PoC it with two lane, two way track and it seems to work just fine (textures from MOM and props from Catenary Replacer)
Before I continue on this I have a couple questions:
-if I wish to use textures and props from MOM and CR where can I ask for permission?
-how can I make catenary to be compatible with CR?

      Hi all!
Like most of you folks, I have a huge back-catalog in a spreadsheet somewhere of assets I plan on making some day.
Well, here's my list.. This is just the stuff I want to make, It's alright if there is already a good asset on the workshop for it, it's just for my own pleasure.
This isn't going to replace the refinery project, I'll still keep updating that thread. I just wanted to have a place to keep my other assets organized and seek advice from everyone.
I'll have to clean up the list at some point, but for now it's just a data dump. I have some more things I would like to make, but I don't have a design picked out yet, so I left them off for now.
