About This File

WMP Road Ferry by DocRorlach

The first in a series of ferry ports, this one is a standard road ferry, created as a complement to the far larger Truck Ferry Station, and designed in the same style. It works as all other car and passenger ferries.

Best placement for this ferry is on a gentle, sloping area of the waterfront. We recomend that you do not terraform for it, but let the ferry lot settle the terrain.

File sizes are due to HD rendering of all props and buildings.

Installation:

Manual Installations: If you are using the DIC (Download & Installation Catalogue) manual installations are easy. If not, unpack the ZIP archive into your (My) Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins Folder. We recommend creating a WorkingMan folder beforehand, if it does not exist, and using that as the installation folder.

Un-Installing: To un-install the files, simply bulldoze every lot from this download in your cities and delete the files from the plugins folder afterwards.

Dependencies:

To ensure the proper functionality, make sure the files mentioned below are installed in the plugins folder.

* wmp_ferry_props01.dat

* wmp_cars_props02.dat

* wmp_texture05.dat

Credits:

While the usual thanks go out to everyone around the Pegasus site & teams and to Dave for his patience with testing this stuff, this project would have not been possible without the creative efforts of quite a lot of people in the 3D modelling world:

First off, there is Max Grueter in Switzerland, whose Working Class Heroes are found on all the ferry lots; for the trucks and cars I ow thanks to a whole slew of designers: Jost, jrn91, anonymous, col1, mike409, mclarenman, banamana, sandman, mago, williamT, matt372, and poolboy. All I did was to adapt their creations for SC4 use.

Problems?

If you have problems with this lot it is most likely that you did not download all the dependencies or - just as likely - that we made a mistake. You can contact us via email at comments@workingman-productions.co.uk. Best include a screen-shot illustrating the problem.

I agree with simfox: it's too big compared with other buildings.
The roof texture is also too repetitive.
But I also agree with the others: it looks very nice and I really like the architecture.

I've given it a 4/5

Yeah, the building is way too big and the roof is a tad repetitive, but it's a great idea and always good to have some choice. Thanks!

The scale isn't really an issue for me. I mean, four floors are four floors; not much you can do about it. The one issue I do have though is that the roof colour and shape is a bit too non-generic for me. To me it seems to have an Asian architectural vibe to it.
