Windows Isle and Apple Isle

-----

Pretty simple, the photo's say it all, the windows and mac logo's as regions.

Lame? maybe. Why? Cause I was bored and I'd just finished a quadcore die based city so on to the next thing. Figured someone might want these as well.  Yes they are 99.9% flat, that's on purpose, it's a blank canvas, feel free to spuce it up if you like with a mt.longhorn, registry cove, iTunes valley or a quicktime expressway, I know I will, however what I want may not be what you want, hense the base versions.

Installation Steps:

1. Unzip package to temporary location.

2. Extract the AppleIsle and WindowsIsle folders to your SC4 Regions folder.

Standard installation:

3. Fireup SimCity 4 game.

4. Select the option to open another region and select one of the two.

5. You will have a blank region the size of 4x4 large cities showing.

6. Press Alt-Ctrl-Shift-R (at the same time), a file open dialog will open.

7. Navigate to the region folder you already opened and in the subfolder called "terraform",

   select the .bmp file.

8. SimCity 4 will now render your region, this can take some time I'm told depending on hardware,

my quad core finishes in about 3-4 minutes, yours may take significantly longer.

SC4M based installation or modification:

3. Fire up SC4 Terraformer, when asked to select a region, select the region you want to use or

modify from the regions folder list.

4. A dialog will pop up with locking options, just ignore and hit ok.

5. select the global tools menu option and select import.

6. navigate to one of the region folders you just installed in step #2, in the subfolder

"terraform", select the .bmp file.  ... wait a few seconds.

7. Now edit to your hearts content and save the region.

8. Note, when you first enter the region having generated it this way it's best to open each of

the city tiles and save them before getting going in your region.

What is in this Zip package?

2 Region folders

 \AppleIsle

    config.bmp  - 16x16(4x4 large city layout)

region.ini  - If you want to change the region name remember to edit this too.

appleisle.jpg - snapshot photo of what your region should look like when rendered

   \Terraform

    apple_isle_base.bmp - 8bit grayscale terrain height bitmap

 \WindowsIsle

    config.bmp  - 16x16(4x4 large city layout)

region.ini  - If you want to change the region name remember to edit this too.

windowsisle.jpg - snapshot photo of what your region should look like when rendered

   \Terraform

windows_isle_base.bmp - 8 bit grayscale terrain height bitmap

1 readme_<packagename>.txt

Dependencies: None

Known issues:

Reminder - Those of you on win2008R2_x64 or win7_x64 with high resolutions (me=1900x1200) may

need to temporarly load SC4 in 800x600 to get the terrain to generate properly the first time; you can switch back after the region is generated. This bug is not specific to these terrains.

Credits:

organizations.  14 Llamas were hurt during the production of these regions. 3.gif

Terraformer or other mapping or graphic tools are completely optional and only needed if

you desire to modify the layout, or more likely modify the terrain.  In that case The Gimp,

paint.net, or your grayscale editing tool of choice if you enjoy the painful way to edit will get

the job done. Course you'll probably want to use SC4Terraformer or the like which you can find in

the STEX. mspaint is all you need to tweek the layout config.bmp. Chances are if you're reading

this far then you don't need me to explain it too you.  Google or the forums are your friend if

you need help with terrain\region modifing.

Hehe.. As lame as it might seem in the beginning; think of all the beautiful coastlines you can create in that bay-area in the apple-logo.. :-)

That's not a bay.. that's an i-bay, it comes complete with non-standard boats(screws)! ;) I'm not sure where to put BSOD cemetery though I'm thinking maybe inside an extinct volcano. Towerdude your right I should have done a penguin shape as well, sorry I just didn't think about it, though a penguin might put me in pixel editing hell, maybe next weekend. ;)

The i-Map has come to SC4! And what a nice map it is too. I like the blank canvas concept, I can see a variety of uses for it.

knighthawk75, it is required that your primary picture be a rendered region in SimCity 4. Your picture is a 3-dimensional screenshot of the SC4Terraformer region. It would be a good idea to render your region and upload a picture of it for your primary picture.

This is a false statement there are 4 photos, 2 of which are in game region shots that have been there since the original post.
