About This File

Welcome to the Sea Level Mod

by swat-medic.

Download from Support Site

Description:

This mod is designed to change the sea level in SimCity 4 to a lower, or higher altitude in order to get sea at a higher or lower altitude, or get no sea at all. Included is 5 .dat files. 0m, 500m, 1000m, 1500m,2000m. It also contains screen shots of the mod in use.

It is possible to have different sea levels on different cities. Just make sure you load each city with the same .dat file that you had in your plugins before. If you are confused by anything in this description please PM me!

Installation:

To install, select the level of sea that you want and remove all others. Crash will occur if more than one mod file is in the folder at a time. Completely remove all other sea level mod .dat files from your plugins folder.

Uninstallation:

To uninstall this mod, simply remove the entire folder from your plugins folder.

Compatibility:

This mod should work with all terrain mods. Please report any and all complications!

Let me try and clear up all this confusion. This changes the default sea level which you CANNOT do in the game. This mod is meant to lower it/make it higher, or have no sea level at all (which means no Maxis water at all) Mrbisonm- You are talking about the elevation height, that only changes land elevation, water stays the same.

??? you can also change the water level in de region settings in the region folder.. [Regional Settings] Name = ... Terrain type = 0 Water Min = 60 Water Max = 100 if you change the water min and max numbers... or am i wrong?

Since I never used different elevations in the game, I didn't know that it was only a land elevation tool that we have in the godmode. But still, you can easily change the water elevation by changing the numbers in the .ini file. So this mod is not necessary and nothing new. Sorry.

So say I install this with a medium-high water level - could I open an existing city and have the tops of tall buildings sticking out of the water?

@nerdley_dood: Try it.:D @mrbisonm: I understand that. With the flow of new users, they may not feel comfortable going in and changing stuff.

Nice Idea actually. Really frustrating how some terrain mods have the kind of texture you want at a certain altitude and water at another. This could solve that and you can have nice looking grass or whatever for whatever you want to make

Just to point out. The settings in the region .cfg DON'T control the sea level. The default sea level is 250 meter, and most terrain mods keep this. The point of this mod is change that level. It doesn't allow you to make water on MULTIPLE elevations. BTW, the Extra Terrain Tools is not on the exchange, and is extremely hard to find, depsite the that is hosted on this sever.

swat-medic: Nice idea. Now, if there were a possibility to set a specific sea level height to individual city tiles other than the max possible 200m ... (*dreaming on*) As for the Extra Terrain Tools: It's in the Modds section as 'Additional God Mode Terrain Tools'. To quickly find it, go to 'Modds & Downloads' and search for author 'rybolton'.
