Town Hall, part of the Smalltown, USA Series by JBSimio

As Smalltown grew from a fork in the road into a legitimate village, local leaders began to consider the idea of building a meeting hall.  The more the area grew, the more necessary it became to have a place other than Edna Rausch’s basement to store important records and building permits.  Unfortunately, simply voting in favor of building a town hall was the easy part.  The debate over style and location lasted for three years.  Some people wanted a clock tower that would fit snugly between other businesses on

Main Street
.  Others wanted a building that would stand alone with graceful lawns and gardens.  Still others thought Edna’s house should just be converted into a town hall.  During all this bickering, the need for a police station became another hot issue in town.  Finally in 1924, after years of delays, voters decided to erect a building at the head of the Village Common Park that would house all the official town offices as well as offices for the local police.  Although some feel Smalltown has outgrown its once controversial structure, the building is still in use today, thanks to the ever watchful efforts of SLICH.  Rather than rebuild, a small jail annex was added in 1967.  Oddly enough, the first visitor to the new jail was a former record keeper.  Followers of this series will all remember why she was not only fired, but also served a ten day sentence.

The Town Hall is the fourteenth release in the Smalltown, USA series.  This package contains a total of six different versions in two building styles.

It's on the STEX! Great job. Since I like to intersperse small towns and rural areas in my regions, this will come in most handy. Thanks very much!

This is really a nice idea and is something I've been needing. Adding the police effect is great, just like any small town would have the police department and municipal offices combined. Thanks!

I'm sure Robert Zemeckis would like the first one! ;) This is a very good, and might I say thoughtful, addition to the STEX! We sure could use ALOT more civic buildings. Excellent job! :)

It makes my day every time I see a new one of your Smalltown series appear! Thanx so much for an excellent concept and excellent work. Your stuff always gets my highest in-game compliment...I always make them historical! Appreciate all the time, detail and attention and, of course, the sharing of them. 10/10
