About This File

I thought I'd release something special for my 50th lot. Earlier this year I spent an afternoon wandering around South Beach, Miami taking photo's of the Art Deco buildings. I thought this style of building would be an asset to the game, adding a bit of character, so I built a hotel based on some of the style features found there (and other places).

This package contains four hotels; the Excelsior (yellow), Pacifica (blue), Vermonte (green) and Flamingo (pink). Each hotel is basically the same, but with different colours, textures and lighting. There are four plopable lots; one for each hotel. There are also two growable lots; one 3x2 (Stage 8 CS$$) and one 3x3 (Stage 6 CS$$). The growables use a building family so the hotels will grow randomly.

Like the real buildings, they are sortof interesting to look at during the day, with a bit of Art Deco styling and colours. But also like the real buildings, they come to life at night with the neon and flood lighting. If you've seen "The Bird Cage" you will know what I mean. So if you don't use night mode in the game, you might want to for these.

These lots are BSC BTE enabled. This means they will contribute to reward chains. Having enough of these in your city may entitle you to specific rewards.

acefanatic - you may be correct, but if you look at most of the older hotels in South Beach, they are boxes with some Art Deco styling.

WOW! :-O Very impressive! It also reminds me of the 80's as well. Art Deco is something I like very much, indeed! Can't wait to try out! 10/10!

raindog - ha I wish it was an afternoon. These took a few months to develop. The lighting took about two hours for each one :-(

I'll pass on this one, not into colors. If your into this sort of thing maybe you should consider a Bahamian set. Did you know all the buildings in Nassau are pastel colors? Good idea for a set if someone wanted to go for it. Not my style, though.

GDDan - go visit South Beach Miami some time. It's their interpretation of Art Deco. And that's the style of "stupid colors at night" that many of them feature.
