Hi all I was advises to join this forum after displaying some of my SCURK tilesets on Reddit - Im trying to achieve an authentic as possible New York City from 1940. I'll post some examples shortly I just wanted to jump on and say hi. Also happy to answer any questions about my project! I do have a couple of questions though - has anybody found a way to edit things like roads and powerline tiles? Stuff that isnt available to change on SCURK? Also the dream would be a choice of different tiles if I was to say place a Hospital - could i have a choice of 2 graphic tiles instead of one? Im fast running out of tilesets for this project and having to get super creative with things. I imagine this kind of request would take some super deep modding and would probably be virtually impossible, but i know there are some geniuses out there so asked anyway! Im playing SC2000 win95 edition on with the SimcityX mod that i found on here. Thanks all!

Description: Soldier Field, the Wrigley Building, Marina City, and many other well-known (and not so well-known) buildings accompany the first volume. Use the resources below to browse, learn about, and download this tileset. Notes on The Chicago Tileset - In addition to the information below, the text file that comes with each archive further explains how to use the graphics. General info - Volume 2 of the Chicago set adds several famous buildings found in Chicago. For your convenience, buildings from volume 2 are integrated in the same tileset as volume 1, so you don't have to worry about any buildings conflicting. Image format notes - It is recommended that users download the set in tileset format, but for users who prefer to load graphics in image format, GIF and PCX files are offered. DOS users should download the PCX version and Windows and Mac users should download the GIF version. The GIF versions have been given a palette that is compatible with SCURK for Windows, making the background automatically transparent without scrambling the colors. For more on color palettes and SCURK, click here. DOS users - The DOS version varies greatly from all other versions in that the tallest buildings are placed in the 4x4 Arcology and Llama Dome tilebases. Because of this, DOS users will see more landscaping at the base of the building (which sort of adds a more scenic look). Windows users (3.1 and 95) - The Windows version is created specifically for Windows, taking advantage of its added options and flexibility. For one, the towers are placed in commercial 3x3 tilebases, allowing the larger 4x4 tilebases to be used for other large buildings. In addition, each tilebase is given the appropriate name for its building. For example, when you click the query tool on the Sears Tower in the game, it will be called "Sears Tower" and not "Office tower". Macintosh users - Volume 1 of the Macintosh version is available now. Volume 2 is currently only available in DOS and Windows tilesets, although Mac users are encouraged to download the GIF files which can be imported into SCURK (one at a time, unfortunately). A native Mac tileset will hopefully be offered soon. Special thanks go to Joe Sartelle for doing the conversions on volume 1. Comment from uploader (catty-cb) - Have retrieved as many files belonging to this tileset as I've been able to locate, but due to the way the tileset was uploaded to the SC3000 website its not possible to match above notes to the files themselves, I can't guarantee how well any of this is going to work in a SC2000 game.-

Renew 97 features a mix of seven new and old style buildings. This set will add class and diversity to any city. Tower 3000 - This building doesn't actually exist. I just sketched it on paper and thought it looked cool. It's of the modern/futuristic variety, with metallic reflective windows. Bloomington buildings - These are office buildings near the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. They look best when placed next to each other Faneuil Hall - This New England style building from Boston caught my eye, and is both simple and intricate. Office building - The name of this one isn't known, but it's located in Boston right next to Faneuil Hall above. Office building 2 - Another New England style building in Rhode Island. This one has an interesting shape. Office park - Another building from my sketch pad. This one has an open design and was influenced by the original SimCity 2000 office park. New fall trees - Many of these buildings simply look better when surrounded with fall trees.-

The Mall of America has made its way to SimCity 2000. Spanning 6, yes six 4x4 tilebases, the Mall of America tile is the largest building ever created with SCURK -- the SimCity Urban Renewal Kit. The mall is available in three flavors. Each ZIP file contains a text document with detailed usage instructions and other useful info.- 1 Comment

Vintage New York City is a Tile Set Conversion for SimCity 2000 Windows, or the Special Edition. Basically its' New York before the 1940's , or when the Empire State building was the tallest in the world. This really is an awesome Tile set if I have to say it my self! I spent no less than Four Hundred hours digging through tiles and old scurk pages. Then i had to create original scurk as well! This will definitely bring new life into the great. This is no slouch, careful work was done to ensure everything matches in scale and colour and realism. You can recreate a version of Manhattan, or even develop an alternate city. AMUST HAVE!!! INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS!!!! You may need an archive tool that Unzips compressed files such as WINRAR, its what I use. Then extract the file named 'VINTAGE NEW YORK CITY'.MIF to a folder called " SCURKART' , its 'where your SimCity 2000 is stored, or you can make an entirely new installation folder location just as long as you can find it! LOL Usually you can just double click on the File," VINTAGE NEW YORK CITY. MIF" and it will open to SCURK, or just right click and choose to open with SCURK. From there you will be able to access the goodies! From the main game. At the main menu of SimCity 2000 Special Edition there will be as follows.. LOAD CITY START NEW CITY EDIT NEW MAP LOAD SCENARIO WATCH WILL TV ***LOAD TILE SET*** QUIT Click on load tile set and it will take you to a directory screen, LOOK IN, SCURKART, or where ever you extracted to and select the tile set, " VINTAGE NEW YORK CITY.MIF. Once selected it will take you back to the main menu, from there you can choose what ever you want. When you begin the game you'll notice that mostly everything is different! IN GAME Once you have started a new city or what ever and your in the game, you can load the tile set from there by, clicking 'FILE' at the top left hand side of the screen and selecting," Load Tile Set". It will take you to the same directory . Look In.. The folder where you extracted , "VINTAGE NEW YORK CITY.MIF and select it! The city will then be the new tiles! CREATED BY G.F JAY COSIS. So is this it then? After my PC was repaired a week ago, I tried to boot up SCURK to continue working on my tileset and this happened. recopying the files from the disk did nothing, nor did any fan patches, compatibility modes, registry fixes... nothing. It's as if the program had just keeled over and died one day. (I am lucky that SimCity 2000 itself still works). If there is already a forum that discusses these issues on the site can I be directed to it? A search about the issue didn't come up anywhere on the site or on Google, so I'm guessing this is a first time reported incident.

Way back when, in the last millennium, there was a city simulator by the name of SimCity 2000. It was a fun game, and chewed up a lot of my time. But technology progressed and eventually the computer I owned was incompatible with it. The game loads, but trying to load or save a city causes the program to crash. Until now. Recently I obtained a computer that runs Windows XP, and thus can run SimCity 2000 natively. And not only the game, but a tool that came with the game known as "SCURK" - the Sim City Urban Renewal Kit. SCURK was the BAT of its day. In it you could design your own buildings, create a new tileset with those buildings in it, and use it in your city. You could even design your own cities in a sandbox, plopping everything wherever you wanted it without a care for cost or indeed whether such a setup would work properly in-game. I have decided to learn how to use this tool, and produce new tilesets for anyone interested. Phase 1 is to gauge interest. If you have any requests for a tileset and suggestions for buildings (and what that building should replace), feel free to suggest them here. I'll do my best to make them. The first tileset I will make shall be Australiana.
